Manipal Institute of Technology Bags 1st Runner Up Position At Amex's Flagship Annual Hackathon "CodeStreet"


Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), engineering college of Manipal Academy of Higher Education added yet another feather to its cap by securing 1st Runners Up position in the "American Express CodeStreet hackathon" national challenge with the theme "Open Banking." From13th August to 8th October the hackathon witnessed over 9000+ students participation and 10 teams were selected after the ideation phase. The 10 teams had to develop prototypes from 24th September to 8th October guided by a mentor from American Express.

From MIT, team "Ipseity" comprising of four students from Manipal Institute of Technology –Mini Shail Chhabra (CSE Dept), Praseedha Praveen Kalbhavi (ICT Dept), Pratyaksh Gupta (EEE Dept), and Shreya Tewari (ECE Dept). The "Ipseity” team worked on the theme of open banking with an ideology of "𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃. 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐘." as the soul of their project. They worked and brainstormed to bring a proposal of a 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝 with all your IDs united at a single place, being powered, and entrusted by blockchain technology.

The "CodeStreet" is Amex's flagship annual hackathon that provides coders an opportunity to showcase their technical skills by solving the latest tech riddles in the Fintech industry.

The event consisted of 3-themes:

·                      Open Banking: Identity on Demand

·                      Cyber Security in financial services

·                      Monitoring Hotspots in Distributed Computing

The "Ipseity" team further mentioned that it was great 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 to tinker around with the concepts of decentralized identity and hosting a 𝟒-𝐍𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐈𝐩𝐬𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐍𝐞𝐭 built on the Hyperledger 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐲 technology #supported by Hyperledger 𝐀𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 agent. The "Ipseity" team presented the prototype on 8th October to a panel of 4 judges where Team Ipseity emerged as the 1st Runners Up.
