The 39-year old veteran dwarf athlete - Smt. Sinimol K Sebastian from Idukki District of Kerala has won against all odds, and pulled off a spectacular show at the World Dwarf Games 2023 held in Germany.

Sinimol won across multiple disciplines including 4 Gold medals in Freestyle Swimming (25 m & 50 m categories), Javelin Throw, and Discus Throw, along with a Silver medal in the Shot Put category.

Sinimol, the 39-year-old veteran dwarf athlete from Kerala's Idukki District, was trained by Father Solomon Kadambattu Parambil at the Darshana Society for the disabled. She showcased a spectacular performance, and won 5 medals across various disciplines. Defying all odds she bagged 4 gold medals each in Freestyle Swimming (25 m & 50 m categories), Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, and 1 silver medal in Shot Put category. She was also honored as the flag bearer for the Indian continent representing Kerala.

NTPC And EDII Join Hands To Empower Women Through Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, a 'Centre of Excellence' recognised by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the CSR Division of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) on Friday.

Under the MoA, EDII will facilitate New Enterprise Creation among the underprivileged women in the vicinity of NTPC Noida. EDII will ensure the setting up of a Cold Compressed Oil Unit for the benefit of underprivileged women. This initiative will be strengthened by appropriate training and handholding to the participating women. NTPC has taken this initiative as a part of its CSR activity of empowering women and making them entrepreneurial and self-sustaining. In all, 30 women from self-help groups will be rendered independent and empowered over one year.

Ather Unveils Its Refreshed Product Portfolio And Launches The 450S, An All New Entry-Level Variant

The newly launched 450S and the refreshed 450X will be packed with new safety and performance features that are unseen in the industry yet, including India’s first DeepViewTM Display making its debut in the new 450S.

The 450S comes with a battery capacity of 2.9 kWh, an IDC range of 115km, a 0–40 acceleration of 3.9 sec, and a top speed of 90 km/h. The vehicle comes with a host of new changes including DeepViewTM Display, new switchgear, FallSafe™, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), and coasting regen, which improves range by up to 7%. Both the 450S and 450X come with new switchgear with an improved tactile feel and two new switch additions, one-click reverse, and a joystick. One-click reverse enables a hassle-free reverse experience, and the joystick enables a host of interactions on the 450S and also improved in-ride interactions on the 450X. 

The new FallSafe™ feature, now available in all models, can detect changes in the scooter's speed, orientation, and acceleration when the rider is about to fall over. This feature switches off the motor (to avoid any further movement such as skidding) and activates flashing indicator lights to notify those around to step forward to rescue the rider. Further, Ather brings the new ‘Emergency Stop Signal’, a regulation in Europe, to the Indian market for the first time. This feature is designed to avoid accidents/crashes in panic-braking situations. When an Ather user panic brakes at a speed greater than 50km/h, brake lights blink to give riders behind a visual cue/ warning, thus giving them precious extra time to react.

Further, to improve the battery range, the 450S comes with coasting regen feature that slows the vehicle down while at a steady coast (no acceleration and no manual braking) and recycles the energy back into the battery. Ather has dynamically implemented this feature, ensuring that regen is lower at lower speeds, for people to nib through traffic easily and higher at higher speeds to ensure lower brake usage and improved efficiency. These improvements are said to contribute towards lower brake pad wear and an improved range of up to 7%, depending on modes.

As a first in the industry, the new inbox-to-scooter feature delivers destination addresses from other apps (like WhatsApp/ Telegram/ Instagram DM etc.) directly to the Ather dashboard. To activate this feature, users must have the Ather app installed, and the location shared must be a Google Maps link only.

The updated trip planner, apart from giving the most optimal suggestion of route along with a map of Ather Grid chargers, will also provide the option to select riders' own preferred Ather Grid charger and the trip will be planned keeping in mind your preferred chargers. Further, in certain geographies, trip planners can now help plan the trip and suggest appropriate Ather Grid chargers for intercity trips too. Ather has installed 1400+ public chargers spread across the country, including on state and national highways.

Ather has also made changes to the design of the rear mud flap to reduce the splatter on the pillion while riding on dusty or muddy roads. It also provides additional protection for the rear mono-shock and brake calipers from muddy conditions.

Deliveries will start in a phased manner, starting with 450X with 2.9 kWh battery by 3rd week of August, the 450S by last week of August and 450X with 3.7 kWh battery in October.

Godrej Consumer Products To Invest INR 515 Crore To Set Up World-Class Manufacturing Plant In Tamil Nadu

* To serve as a manufacturing hub for brands such as Cinthol, Godrej Expert Rich Crème, Godrej Selfie Shampoo Hair Colour, and Goodknight

Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), a leading emerging markets FMCG company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Government of Tamil Nadu. As a part of this MoU, GCPL will establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the state, making an investment of INR 515 crore over the course of the next five years. The MOU was signed in presence of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri MK Stalin and Nisaba Godrej, Executive Chairperson, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL).

The upcoming manufacturing facility will be strategically located in Thiruporur Taluk, Chengalpattu District near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This strategic choice guarantees access to crucial southern markets and facilitates meeting requirements in neighbouring regions.

Commenting on the investment, Nisaba Godrej, Executive Chairperson, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), said, “The investment of INR 515 crore over the next five years is in line with GCPL’s long-term strategy to actively participate in India's growth journey and our unwavering commitment to deliver affordable, best quality and innovative products to consumers. With the establishment of this facility, we will create over 400 job opportunities in Tamil Nadu. This facility aims to have an inclusive and gender balanced workforce. Our plan is to employ 50% of women for this facility along with 5% of employees from LGBTQ and people with disability (PWD) communities.”

GCPL is committed to building a best-in-class innovative factory that will be Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified within the investment period. In line with Godrej’s commitment to sustainability, the new plant will follow environmentally responsible practices. It will utilize energy-efficient technologies; implement waste reduction strategies, equipped with solar roof panels, ZLD, and zero landfill practices. GCPL will adopt water conservation measures and rainwater harvesting to achieve a positive water balance.

Industry 4.0 is a process that integrates manufacturing technologies with IT advancements such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mixed reality, and 3D printing. This synergy accelerates processes and maximizes business efficiency. Embracing the principle of this process, the plant will feature a digitally connected shop floor allowing enhanced efficiency and resource optimization. The new plant is expected to significantly boost GCPL's production capabilities and contribute to the company's overall production capacity.

PTE Academic Scores Now Accepted For Student Direct Steam Applications To Canada

As from today, August 10th, 2023, PTE Academic test centre scores will be accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for all Student Direct Steam (SDS) applications.

SDS is an expedited study permit process for students applying to study in Canada from Antigua and Barbuda, Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vietnam.

It has never been easier to study in Canada with PTE Academic. It is accepted by universities and colleges across the country. This includes leading institutions such as the University of British Columbia (UBC), McGill University, McMasters University, Queens University and the University of Alberta.

SBI Card Enables “RuPay Credit Cards On UPI”

SBI Card, India’s largest pure-play credit card issuer, and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) have announced the linking of SBI credit cards on RuPay platform with UPI. Starting 10th August 2023, SBI Card customers will be able to make UPI transactions through their credit cards issued on RuPay. The functionality can be availed through registering the credit card with third party UPI apps. This will further enhance the avenues for customers using SBI Card on RuPay platform on UPI merchants, thus facilitating enhanced, convenient, and seamless payments experience.  

Simple steps to link your SBI Card-issued RuPay Credit Card on UPI: 

Download the preferred UPI Third Party Application from the Play /App Store. 

Verify your Mobile Number on the UPI App and complete registration. 

Post successful registration, select the option “Add Credit Card/ Link Credit Card”. 

Select “SBI Credit Card” from the list of Credit Card issuers. 

Select your SBI RuPay Credit Card to be linked. 

Enter the last 6 digits of your credit card and expiry date when prompted. 

Proceed to set your 6-digit UPI PIN.
