Uber Helps Organizations Leverage the Service Beyond Traditional Business Travel

Uber, the ridesharing app that is redefining urban mobility across the world, today announced a new Uber for Business, enabling new use cases like daily commute, late-night rides home from work, between-office transportation and much more.

When Uber for Business was introduced in India, the underlying mission was to give organizations a more efficient way to manage their business travel and improve employees’ experience. Uber soon realized that organizations needed much more than features like monthly billing and reporting. Whether it’s helping employees stay safe when they travel from work late at night, enhancing customer experience with pick-up and drop facilities, or seamless inter-office travel, organizations wanted Uber to solve some of their most pressing business challenges.

“At Uber for Business we are continuously striving to make Uber a one-stop solution for all ground transportation needs of businesses. With the launch of our revamped Uber for Business platform, our technology makes it possible to create specialized solutions that help businesses have access to reliable transportation options for all their needs. Companies can now configure and use our platform to manage transportation requirements for all, while reducing costs, increasing operational efficiency and improving compliance” said Arjun Nohwar, APAC Head - Uber for Business.

The Uber for Business delivers new tools with the simplicity and magic that makes Uber what it is today. The product updates include:
Set-and-forget travel programs: New tools allow managers to set up automated programs for commuting, business travel, airport rides, and any other mobility need. For example, if employees are working late, they could use a comfortable ride home. Managers can be the hero by setting up a “late night rides” policy that only works for trips taken between work and home after 8PM. The company can choose how much to fund per trip, and if employees need to take longer trips, it’s no problem, everything over the spend allowance will be charged to their payment method of choice.
New permissions: Companies can set rules for employees, customers, and clients around the type of car that they can use, how much they can spend, and the location from which a trip needs to begin or end. They can mix and match these rules in the way that works best for their company.
Different access for different groups:Businesses can provide customized levels of Uber access depending on each person’s needs. For example, you can give all of your employees Rs 500 (or more) for their daily commute, while giving recruiters special access to call rides for candidates via Uber Central. By segmenting the organization by team, level, or location, they can take transportation policies out of the back office and easily bring them to life.
A fresh user interface: The Uber for Business dashboard has been re-designed from the ground up to feature a cleaner, more seamless experience. A streamlined account setup flow makes it easy to get riding with as few or as many travel programs as needed. Plus, access to Uber Central is easily controlled, enabling employees who interact with customers, guests, or recruits to call a ride for them on demand.

What does this mean for businesses? This means cost savings, because they can ensure that employees travel within company policy. It means time savings for admins and managers, who can now build set-and-forget travel programs for the whole company. And it means happier employees and customers since Uber can eliminate the stress of driving and parking and give people more time to catch up on emails, enjoy their morning coffee or take a few minutes to just relax.

“Uber for Business has changed the way our employees travel around the world. We have done away with the inconvenience of pre-booking through vendors, eliminating administrative hassles completely. The dashboard gives company administrators flexibility and easy billing with cost savings is an added advantage,” said Rajeev Prakash, National Head of Administration, Team Computers

With the new Uber for Business, every member of the organization – travel managers, finance, HR, and executive leadership – can deliver solutions that improve the business, whether it’s through cost savings, employee productivity or scaling the business.

Tableau Acquires Natural Language Query Startup ClearGraph

Tableau Software has announced it has acquired ClearGraph, a cutting edge Palo Alto startup that enables smart data discovery and data analysis through natural language query technology. Tableau plans to integrate ClearGraph’s technology into Tableau’s products, making it even easier for more people to interact with their data by using natural language to ask questions and search for insights.

“We are thrilled to bring the ClearGraph team to Tableau to enable people to ask questions of their data using natural language,” said Francois Ajenstat, Chief Product Officer at Tableau. “Natural language queries will make it easier for more people to interact with Tableau, whether you’re an executive who needs an answer quickly, or on a mobile phone and want an answer from your data on the move. We’re excited about this acquisition as the ClearGraph team shares our mission and is aligned with our innovation perspectives on conversational analytics.”

ClearGraph makes it easy to analyze data using natural language. It brings a consumer-like experience to users by connecting disparate data sources and making them accessible and intelligible through simple conversational style search. ClearGraph’s unique natural language query technology stores semantic data in knowledge graphs that can expand and learn over time. Accessing and analyzing data using ClearGraph requires no technical training, as the system can infer users’ intent through natural language. For example, people could ask questions such as, “Total sales by customers who purchased staples in New York,” then filter to, “orders in the last 30 days,” then group by, “project owner’s department.”

“We founded ClearGraph because we saw a need to bridge the gap between humans and computers through natural language, especially when it comes to exploring data,” said Andrew Vigneault, CEO of ClearGraph. “Tableau is a natural fit for us because we have similar missions, cultures and genuine desire to help more people around the world access, interact with and get answers from their data.”

ClearGraph was founded in 2014 by Andrew Vigneault and Ryan Atallah. The team recruited Stanford PhD graduate Alex Djalali, who specializes in computational linguistics, to develop the product along with several other engineers. ClearGraph is used by dozens of customers, including large enterprises. As part of the acquisition, employees will join Tableau in its Palo Alto office. The team will be focused on integrating ClearGraph’s underlying technology into Tableau products.

Tableau helps people see and understand data. Tableau helps anyone quickly analyze, visualize and share information. More than 61,000 customer accounts get rapid results with Tableau in the office and on-the-go. Over 300,000 people use Tableau Public to share public data in their blogs and websites.

ToneTag, a sound based proximity payment technology provider launches an Audio Pod for all the merchants across. Even the way we make payments has evolved significantly. Microsoft’s Coco Framework for Blockchain Networks to Improve Performance, Confidentiality, and Governance of Enterprises

Blockchain technology is generating significant interest across a wide range of industries in India. As the field of applications for Blockchain grows, Microsoft is continuously working with customers, partners and the blockchain community to continue advancing blockchain’s enterprise readiness. Keeping in line with this, Microsoft announced its new Coco Framework, a first-of-its-kind innovation that aims to advance enterprise adoption of blockchain. Blockchain is a transformational technology with the ability to significantly reduce the friction of doing business. Coco is the foundation of blockchain for the enterprise. It addresses key elements that businesses are demanding.

Current blockchain protocol technology requires complicated development techniques to meet the operational and security needs of enterprises. The Coco Framework reduces this complexity and when integrated with popular blockchain protocols like Ethereum or Corda, Coco addresses and improves on critical needs for commercial blockchain applications including high transaction speed (faster by roughly 100 times), distributed governance (network constitution that allows members to vote) and confidentiality (without compromising performance). Coco by design is open and compatible with any ledger protocol and can operate in the cloud and on premises. Initial ledger integration partners include R3, Intel and JP Morgan Chase, which have agreed to integrate their proprietary blockchain ledger platforms with the Coco Framework.

Coco provides foundational capabilities that open up more complex, real world blockchain scenarios across industries – like financial services, healthcare and retail – further proving blockchain’s potential to digitally transform business. Microsoft will launch the framework on GitHub in 2018 as an open source project.

Blockchain in India is ready to be taken to the next level. Recently, Microsoft was selected as the exclusive cloud partner by BankChain, a platform for banks in India (comprising State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, DCB Bank, Kotak Bank, Bank of Baroda, Deutsche Bank, and others) to explore, build, and implement blockchain solutions using Microsoft Azure Blockchain.
