The President of India Droupadi Murmu, Will Preside Over Convocation of Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence On July 03

Smt. Droupadi Murmu – The Hon’ble President of India will preside over the second convocation of Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence here on 03 July 2023 in the presence of Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, the Founder of the University, it was announced here today. The varsity provides  higher education completely free of charge to rural, underserved, and below-the- poverty-line first-generation literates.

Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai said in a statement: "It’s a proud moment for us that, Smt. Droupadi Murmu – The Hon’ble President of India, would be coming to Sri Sathya Sai University (in Chikkaballapur district, near Bengaluru) for our annual convocation on 03 July. The Hon’ble President would be conferring honorary doctorates to six eminent Indians who have been contributing to the process of nation-building for the last many decades."

“Sixty-six percent of graduates who would be awarded their degrees this year come from below-the-line (BPL) families, and fifty-two percent are rural youths,” the Founder said, adding that “The presence of the Hon’ble President for the convocation, who rose to India’s highest constitutional office despite coming from a humble background, would be the most inspiring for the graduating students.”

President Murmu, herself a first-generation literate, started her life journey in a small tribal village in Odisha. She crossed many obstacles, and with the help of her resolve, she became the first daughter of her village to go to college.

Under the agreement, LTTS will become a Palo Alto Networks Managed Security Services Partner (MSSP), delivering a suite of security services to end customers in industrial verticals. LTTS’ security solutions encompass 5G, OT and IT/OT Converged SOC services.

By joining forces with Palo Alto Networks, LTTS will enable end customers to address security risks in their OT environments, providing best-in-class security. The new MSSP agreement will provide a managed service offering for Palo Alto Networks Zero Trust OT Security solution, allowing customers to outsource the day-to-day management of their OT security to LTTS. MAHE, Manipal Vice Chancellor Inaugurates Workshop On “3D Bioprinting For Biomedical Applications” At Its Research Centre

Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal inaugurated the three-day hands-on workshop on “3D bioprinting for Biomedical Applications” here at Manipal Centre for Biotherapeutics Research (MCBR), MAHE, Manipal. This workshop is first of its kind at Manipal and the participants would be trained for generating the G code, designing the 3D structures and made aware of printing software for 3D bioprinting.

Presiding over the function, Lt. Gen. (Dr) M D Venkatesh said “3D bioprinting is an important area of translational research that would benefit many medical disciplines including orthopaedics, dentistry, dermatology, etc. We are in the exciting times that the benefits of 3D bioprinting would soon result in better patient care.  I hope we would soon be able to print oesophagus, trachea, liver, and other parts of the body. JK Tye Banmore, MP Plant Capacity Expansion (1st Phase) Inauguated

·         The company announces the completion of its first phase of capacity expansion of its radial tyre manufacturing facility with an investment of Rs. 312 crore

Indian tyre industry major and market leader in the radial tyre segment, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd., has announced the completion of the first phase of capacity expansion of their manufacturing facility located in Banmore, Madhya Pradesh. This was inaugurated by Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in presence of Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Hon'ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, and Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Hon'ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel.

With an investment of about Rs 1000 crore, the company has planned a two-phased expansion at its existing Banmore facility to cater to the increasing demand for passenger car radial (PCR) tyres. The phase one expansion, involved an investment of Rs 312 crore. The expansion will increase the annual production capacity of the plant by 31%, from 39 lakh to 51 lakh units per annum.

JK Tyre is now in the second phase of expansion, with an additional investment of Rs 617 crore that will increase the capacity by an additional 31% by April 2024.

TKM, ReNew Energy Global Inaugurate Newly Set-Up 27.2 MW Group Captive Solar, Wind Renewable Energy In Vijaynagara, Karnataka

* (Phase 1 of this visionary initiative entails development of solar and wind energy capacity, totalling to 20.6 MW & Phase 2 encompasses a further 6.6 MW of wind energy generation)

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reinforcing its commitment to the ‘Global Environmental Challenges 2050’, today inaugurated the 27.2 MW Group Captive Solar and Wind Renewable Energy Project, which is established through a joint venture with ReNew Energy Global Plc, located at Kudligi Taluk, Vijaynagara district of Karnataka State, home to TKM’s existing solar plant. Commencing today, the green power generated through this project will be exclusively channelled to TKM, leading to an expected reduction of 51 kilo ton/year in CO2 emissions. Notably, this latest accomplishment further reaffirms TKM's sustained achievement of 100% Renewable Energy in grid electricity since June 2021. By offsetting a cumulative carbon footprint of 117 kilo tons between April 2021 and March 2023, TKM has demonstrated its strong commitment to conserve the ecosystem throughout the entire life cycle of its products, manufacturing operations, and services. Today’s significant milestone marks Toyota’s continued dedication to enhance its renewable energy use, aimed at realising ‘Carbon Neutrality’.

In 2017-18, TKM took a significant step towards achieving self-reliance in renewable energy by installing a rooftop solar power plant and ground mount facilities with a combined capacity of 8.2 MW at its Bidadi premises. Additionally, TKM established an 18 MW Open Access installation in a dedicated solar park outside its factory premises through ReNew. These initiatives have enabled TKM to gradually increase its renewable energy procurement since FY2014, ensuring sustenance in renewable energy supply for its plant operations.

With the inauguration of the 27.2 MW Group Captive Solar and Wind Renewable Energy Project, TKM’s total cumulative green energy adoption is 53.4 MW. Michelin To Equip La Poste Delivery Vehicles With MICHELIN Uptis Puncture-Proof Tires

By 2024, nearly 40 La Poste vans fitted with the MICHELIN Uptis[1] airless tire will deliver letters and parcels in the Lesquin, Valenciennes and Douai sectors, in the Hauts-de-France region (North of France). Three initial vehicles will be put into circulation as of June 27, within the framework of a two-year partnership between La Poste and Michelin, a first in France and Europe - following partnerships already formed in Asia.  

The UPTIS prototype is a puncture-proof wheel/tire assembly with no compressed air, intended for cars and light trucks. The compressed air has been replaced by a revolutionary structure capable of supporting the vehicle. This ensures the strength of the assembly and guarantees driving comfort and safety. This is an off-the-peg solution that allows users to drive with peace of mind, without worrying about road hazards.  

Thanks to the MICHELIN Uptis tire, which eliminates the problems linked to tire pressure and punctures, La Poste can reduce downtime and maintenance operations on its fleet. It can therefore ensure better continuity of its activities and services. On an environmental level, the elimination of puncture and underinflation problems will allow for reducing the number and frequency of tire replacements, thus limiting any waste.  

Michelin’s main target market for the Uptis prototype is light truck fleets intended for professional use, and particularly deliveries.

Kotak Mahindra Bank customers can select from seven RuPay Credit Cards to use seamlessly on UPI. With the linkage of Kotak RuPay Credit Cards on UPI, customers would not need to use their physical Credit Card.

Kotak Bank customers can make payments from the UPI app at merchant outlets with QR codes and POS devices across the country. This integration offers several advantages as Kotak RuPay Credit Card on UPI transactions are not only simple but also secure given that customers are not required carry the physical credit card. Additonally, the RuPay Credit Card can also be used to make payments for e-commerce transactions as well as in-store transactions.

Resilient Housing Market Defies Global Uncertainties: Sales Surge By 8% In Q2 2023, Report

A total of 80,250 units were sold in the eight cities in Q2 2023 compared to 74,320 in the year-ago quarter, showing a growth of 8 percent, said the Real Insight Residential – April-June 2023 report, a quarterly analysis of India's top eight residential markets by REA backed

The markets covered in the report include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Delhi-National Capital Region, and Pune.

Mumbai and Pune continue to record the maximum traction, taking a combined share of 61 percent in overall sales in Q2 2023.

On the residential new supply front, realtors launched 113,770 units, an increase of 11 percent compared to 102,140 in the April-June quarter of 2022. Mumbai has been the frontrunner in terms of new supply, followed by Pune and Ahmedabad.

"India’s top eight residential markets continue on a growth path with sales rising by 8 percent in the June quarter. The RBI's decision to pause the hike in the key lending rate helped in sustaining strong positive sentiments for buying residential properties," said Mr. Vikas Wadhawan, group CFO, REA India & Business Head

"The driving factors behind the uptick in housing sales over the last two years are pent-up demand from the COVID-affected period, growing appetite for homeownership, revival in the economy post-pandemic, and the evolving need for more spacious homes. We anticipate that the upward trend will persist, making the 2023 calendar year even better than the previous year in terms of sales performance.," Mr. Wadhawan added.

During Q2 2023, 15 percent of the residential units sold were classified as ready-to-move-in, while the remaining 85 percent were still under construction. The majority of sales, comprising 27 percent, were concentrated in the price range of INR 45-75 lakh, closely followed by the price range of over INR 1 crore, which accounted for 25 percent of the overall sales.

In a semi-annual comparison, sales witnessed notable growth of 15 percent, while new supply experienced a substantial increase of 43 percent.

The largest portion of new residential units introduced in Q2 2023 was focused on the INR 45-75 lakh price range, accounting for the highest share of 33 percent among all launches. Notably, units priced at over INR 1 crore constituted a significant portion, representing nearly 29 percent of the total.
