Samsung To Launch New Range Of AI Televisions In India On April 17

Samsung, India’s largest consumer electronics brand, is gearing up to launch its new range of Artificial Intelligence-powered televisions on April 17, 2024.

The upcoming launch of AI televisions comes on the back of Samsung's big AI-related announcements earlier this year. Samsung launched Galaxy AI for its smartphones with Galaxy S24 series in January, and Bespoke AI for its home appliances earlier this week.

Samsung's Neo QLED 8K series, Neo QLED 4K series and the OLED series are all likely to be powered by AI this year.

Samsung has also started taking early orders from consumers interested in buying its new range of AI TVs in India. Consumers can pre-order Samsung's new AI TVs by paying INR 5000 on and the Samsung shop App. Customers who pre-order Samsung's new AI-powered TVs will be eligible for early access special offers on their purchase.

Consumers pre-ordering Neo QLED 8K Series (75 inches and above) can avail benefits worth INR 15000 on their purchase, while consumers pre-ordering Neo QLED 4K & OLED Series will get benefits worth INR 10000 on their purchase.

Whitefield Art Collective Inaugurated Its Seventh Edition In The City

Whitefield Art Collective, the Public Art Festival supported by Yuj Arts Foundation, commenced its seventh edition on 5th April 2024. This year's theme, 'Transcending Boundaries,' inspires artists to create innovative artworks and sculptures that reflect their vision, imagination, and artistic talents. Eminent flutist and winner of two national film awards Pt. Pravin Godkhindi inaugurated the month-long festival. The ceremony commenced with the unveiling of the 'Kala Car' and a traditional lamp lighting ceremony. It was followed by a mesmerizing classical dance performance titled 'Sangamam' by Vivrtti Dance Company and a soul-stirring flute recital Pt. Pravin Godkhindi himself, at the Garden City.

Over 100 art installations, sculptures, paintings, and photographs are displayed at the festival. The installations are by the students of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore School of Design, and other senior artists. Sara Arakkal Galarie and Red Line Gallery have joined forces with the Whitefield Art Collective, alongside organizations like UNESCO and the Iconic Women Project. The Kala Car has been created in collaboration with the multidisciplinary artist Pradeep Kumar whose work is inspired by the narrative forms and decorative elements related to his native culture, the Lambani tribe. Transforming the walls of the parking area at VR Bengaluru into an art gallery, The Basement Art Project displays the works of students from Bangalore University. Over the next month VR Bengaluru will transform into a hub of artistic celebration, with installations, photography, exhibitions, workshops, art cinema screening, and an art bazaar.

IIIT-Bangalore Launches A Multi-Cloud Certification With upGrad For Non-Techies To Bridge Market-Talent Supply Gap

The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) has expanded its academic portfolio to launch an Executive Post-Graduate Certificate program in Cloud and DevOps, powered by upGrad, one of Asia’s largest integrated learning, skilling and workforce development majors. This innovative online program marks a significant milestone, positioning itself as the first of its kind to offer in-depth coverage of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including concepts tested in AWS and Azure exams.

They will also learn to design scalable microservices architectures, implement robust monitoring and logging, and utilize AI tools for code analysis, security enhancement, and process automation. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to receive additional hands-on training in preparation for the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations, Azure Fundamentals, and AZ-104 certification exams, making it a comprehensive learning experience.

Abbott’s Survey On ‘Healthy Living: The Role of Vitamin C’

People around the world are increasingly growing health conscious and are more willing to make lifestyle changes post the pandemic.[i] To better understand people’s evolving health needs Abbott, a global healthcare company, in partnership with IPSOS, unveiled the findings of its pan-India survey, ‘Healthy Living: The Role of Vitamin C.’

The survey highlighted that nearly 7 out of 10 consumers associate good health with immunity, high energy levels, and performing daily activities without difficulty. Most people also seek to maintain adequate levels of vitamin C for better health outcomes. Vitamin C is an essential micronutrient involved in maintaining several body functions and is known to have many health benefits.[ii] The findings uncovered insights into how people perceive and incorporate vitamin C into their daily routine.

Dr Kartik Peethambaran, Associate Director, Medical Affairs, Abbott India said, “Vitamin C contributes to the immune defence mechanism of the body that helps boost immunity. Supplementation with vitamin C is known to prevent and treat respiratory infections and has multiple health benefits. Our survey highlights perception on the role of vitamin C in overall good health.”

“Vitamin C has significant health benefits such as strengthening the body’s defences and bone health, enhancing iron absorption, helping with wound healing, maintenance of healthy gums and more. Lack of vitamin C can, therefore, lead to a nutritional gap,” said Dr. L Sreenivasamurthy, Consulting Physician & Diabetologist, Lifecare Hospital, Bangalore. He added, “Consistent consumption of vitamin C not just helps in building immunity but also benefits people with non-communicable diseases like diabetes, who may require greater intake.”

Key Findings: ‘Healthy Living: The Role of Vitamin C’ Survey

Ipsos surveyed over 2,000 people across nine cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Cochin, Ahmedabad, and Pune. Some key findings include:

52% of respondents said consuming vitamin C supplements during rainy and winter seasons resulted in less sick days

61% of women found vitamin C beneficial in faster recovery from illness

·       Perceived benefits:

About 60% of respondents (including 50% of non-supplement users) associate vitamin C supplements with recovery from illness

65% of respondents perceive that vitamin supplements help in maintaining overall health, and 52% are of the opinion that it can help maintain bone and joint health

73% respondents drink enough water and have a balanced diet to recover faster from illnesses

36% associate low Vitamin C intake with delay in recovery from illnesses

GE Aerospace To Invest Over INR 240 Crore In Expanding Its Manufacturing Facility At Pune In 2024

*  Cutting-edge equipment will support planned production increase.

Close on the heels of launching as a standalone company listed on New York Stock Exchange, GE Aerospace has announced an investment of over Rupees 240 crore (~USD 30 million) to expand and upgrade its manufacturing facility in Pune.

The investment will allow the facility to add new projects and manufacturing processes by acquiring machines/equipment and specialized tools along with capacity enhancement of existing products.

“Our team at are Multi-modal Manufacturing facility at Pune has a strong focus on safety, quality and delivering for our customers. I am delighted to see the expansion at this site which has already become a strong contributor to our global supply chain of aircraft engine components,” said Mike Kauffman, vice president, Global Supply Chain at GE Aerospace.

“This investment helps us to continue our growth in aerospace in India, giving us the resources, we need to meet increasing customers’ demand,” said Amol Nagar the managing director for GE Aerospace’s Pune facility.

Inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in February 2015, the factory produces components for commercial jet engines. These are supplied to GE’s global factories where they are used to assemble G90, GEnx, GE 9X, which is the world’s most powerful commercial jet engine, and the LEAP engines by CFM, a GE and Safran joint venture. The facility has been instrumental in developing local aerospace manufacturing talent having trained over 5000 people since inception in specialized aerospace precision manufacturing processes.

Certified under ISO14001 & ISO45001, the facility has built environmental best practices and stewardship in the community.  For example, 30% of its power consumption comes from renewable sources, it has zero liquid discharge, recycles and reuses 1 crore litres of water(100 million litres) every year and recycling 20 metric tons of plastic.
