Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, announced that its business Godrej Process Equipment has won its single largest order from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) of INR 468 Cores. This order is Godrej & Boyce’s first order of Steam Generators for India’s highest rated indigenously developed 700 MWe Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR) to be set up  by NPCIL. This project promotes "Make in India" Initiative.

Steam Generators are critical equipment in a Nuclear Power Plant for generating clean (non-fossil) and reliable source of Power for baseload requirements. Godrej Process Equipment has been chosen for their world class engineering competencies, capabilities for producing high precision equipment and expertise in working with exotic metallurgies. It will be manufactured at their new state of the art facility in Dahej, Gujarat

Powered By Indian Engineers, Lava Announces Android 11 Update For Z2, Z4, Z6 And MyZ Triple Camera Variants


Lava International Ltd, a leading Indian mobile handset company today announced the Android 11 update for its Z2, Z4, Z6, and MyZ triple-camera variants. The update will be first rolled out for Z4, Z6, and MyZ models from 25th July onwards, while Z2 users will receive the update in the subsequent months. Lava Z2, Z4, Z6, and My Z were launched together in January this year with stock Android 10 OS.

The new software update will be released as an OTA to the users who will receive a notification, once it reaches them. The users will have a choice to either download it immediately or do it later by simply going to their phone settings. The Android 11 update will enable Lava users to experience exciting and improved features like screen recording, chat bubbles, dark mode scheduling, and digital well-being. In addition to this, the new android will provide improved user privacy, a better media controller, and an easy conversation & notification manager.

The software for Android R has been developed by Indian engineers and strong Indian R&D has powered Lava to provide consumers with consistent Android upgrades. The brand will continue to provide such updates in future as it is ramping up its investments in R&D.

·         Managing Conversation & notifications

There are now three notification categories: Conversations, Alerting, and Silent.

a. The Conversations section, houses all your conversations meaning any app where you are directly communicating with someone else, including text messages and chats within other apps.

b. The Alerting and Silent sections act as they have before in Android 10. You can also easily silence notifications from certain apps, which would push all future notifications to the Silent section.

·         Built in Screen recorder

This gives you an easy access to recording anything being done on the screen and its built right into Android 11 so you don’t need an extra app. Record with sound from your mic, your device or both.

·         Media controls

With Android 11, the media player has been moved to the Quick Settings section for easy access. When you swipe down your notification drawer, the media controller will be pretty small. It will show you the app it’s related to, cover art, basic controls, and on which system the media is playing. If you pull down again on the drawer, the alert expands.

·         User Privacy: One time permission and auto- reset

This will give users more control over their privacy. In android 10, it asks a user permission only when they first install an app. But in Android 11’s case, you can give one-time permissions to apps that need your mic, camera or location. The next time that the app needs access, it must ask for permission again. The permission gets revoked as soon as that app is closed. So the user’s data is always safe.

·         Chat bubbles

Chat while multitasking. With this new feature, you can pin conversations in form chat bubbles so that they always appear on top of other apps and screen so that you can access the chat anytime or anywhere.

·         Tools that predict what a user want

a. Smart reply: The phone devices replies to be sent for a text on the basis of your usage

b. Smart folders: This is for a user to organize their apps in folders like Work, Fitness, Food, Games etc

·         Camera

3P Performance optimizations: The phone’s camera works even better on 3rd party photo sharing apps like Snapchat and Instagram.

·         Notification history

This feature is to restore any swiped notifications that might have been swiped by mistake. You can check those notifications received in the last 24 hours.

·         Dark mode scheduling

After the simplistic Dark mode in Android 10, this time android gives an option to schedule it as per your requirement. Users can schedule the dark theme using one of two different metrics:

a.      Users can schedule a dark theme to turn on or off when the sun sets or rises.

b.      Users can also set up a custom schedule for dark mode activation if you wish.

·         Digital wellbeing

a.      Bedtime mode: Bedtime mode quiets your phone when it’s time to go to sleep. Schedule it to run automatically or while your phone charges as you rest. Your screen switches to Greyscale and your notifications go silent with Do Not Disturb.

b.      Clock: The new bedtime feature in Clock helps you set a healthy sleep schedule. Track screen time at night and fall asleep to calming sounds. Then wake up to your favorite song. Or use the Sunrise Alarm that slowly brightens your screen to start the day.

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has joined hands with Voot Kids and Green Gold Animation to take Indian audiences on a virtual adventure in Singapore with the iconic Indian comic character, Chhota Bheem. Titled ‘Chhota Bheem – Adventures in Singapore’, the series brings the destination closer to audiences in an innovative format and engages families and children across India, who are on summer school vacation or studying from home, in a bid to keep safe indoors.

In an endeavor to deliver engaging and entertaining content for its young users, Voot Kids has been fortifying its rich content slate with international premium animated legends and home-grown desi superheroes. The partnership with the STB and Green Gold Animation further strengthens its content library as India’s one-stop destination for favorite characters. Starting 17th July, the mini-series entertains children across India in three languages – English, Hindi and Tamil.

The web-series also marks the 11th anniversary of the much-loved personality Bheem. SAP And UNDP Foster Digital Skills And Social Entrepreneurship In Rural Karnataka


In an initiative to empower women and youth, SAP Labs India and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India have collaborated with the Government of Karnataka to facilitate increased access to career guidance, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities and promote 21st century skills.

On World Youth Skills Day, Ms Manjushree, IAS – the Mission Director, National Livelihood Mission in Karnataka initiated the Code Unnati's registration drive for women participants from the grassroots to undergo various interventions. This includes continuous experiential training to build enterprise awareness, development program imparting basic enterprise planning, and Community Cadres (Unnati Sakhi's) mentorship and handholding support.

One of the major objectives of this initiative which is called Code Unnati is to impart digital literacy to women and youth from rural Karnataka. Digital literacy is one of the key 21st century skills required to improve their employability. Owing to disruptions in offline learning, the project learning modules were digitalised to provide timely guidance to participants.

Code Unnati engages with academia, government institutions at the state and district level, incubation centres, civil societies, and other bodies to create a sustainable impact. Through the following initiatives the project will reach over 20,000 youth and 5,000 women in Bangalore Rural, Raichur and Dakshin Kannada districts over the next three years:

Imparting digital literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and digital financial education for women and youth

Connecting youth with government incubation centres and providing them with opportunities to participate in design thinking workshops, innovation challenges, and boot camps

Women would be supported through community-level mentorship and handholding support to start or scale their micro-enterprises. The project will raise awareness about various vocations, industry and professional linkages, and employee volunteering.

More than 300 women are expected to initiate their own businesses in three years and enhance their income by an anticipated 10 per cent within 18 months of the programme's initiation. Karnataka has been at the forefront of creating digital opportunities while nurturing one of the country's most mature IT and start-up ecosystems. This initiative is further working towards strengthening the enabling ecosystem with a focus on skilling.

It will also provide 15,000 students with 21st century skills training coupled with Entrepreneurship Development Programmes in the target districts. These students will have opportunities to attend design thinking workshops, demos, digital skills championships leading to scholarships and employment opportunities. SAP will lead directly lead the strategic mentorship for all the initiatives.

AWS Academy courses help students develop cloud computing skills by providing hands-on experience on AWS Cloud, and lessons based on real industry scenarios. The courses and learning resources are aligned to industry-recognized AWS Certification, developed and maintained by AWS, and taught by AWS Academy-accredited educators.

As part of this new initiative, students from 31 higher education institutions** who are members of ASAP will develop skills in the fast-growing cloud computing space. The curriculum includes subjects such as cloud computing, machine learning, and data analytics. College faculty who have achieved AWS Academy accreditations will impart the training to the students. This is the first such initiative focused on cloud computing from ASAP.

Bindu, Higher Education Minister, Government of Kerala said, “Government of Kerala, as part of its endeavor to address the challenges in the 21st century, has taken up the project of bringing out comprehensive changes in the area of higher education with a paradigm shift focusing on employability and imparting additional skills to youngsters of the State. Kerala's initiatives in this direction are to provide opportunities to familiarize students with advanced technologies, equip them to learn and grasp additional skills associated with these technologies, and prepare the youth to meet the demands raised by this age of machine learning where artificial intelligence is transforming industries.”

She added, “I believe that the cloud-computing program envisaged jointly by ASAP Kerala and AWS Academy will be successful in building a new set of cloud-computing experts, capable of taking up the responsibilities associated with the demands and contemporary needs of the industry.”

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Signs MoU With Government Of Karnataka For Industry-Specific Skill Development In ITIs Across The State


Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Commissionerate of Industrial Training and Employment, Government of Karnataka, for imparting industry-specific skill, culture and knowledge to the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) students in Karnataka.

Under the MoU, TKM has been identified as an Industrial Training Provider to develop skilled human resources for manufacturing units and first-time entrepreneurs, to equip them for the high-volume production anticipated in the manufacturing sector in light of the Government of India’s greater focus on Make in India and AatmaNirbhar Bharat.

Following the MoU, a program focusing on developing students at ITIs situated in all the 31 districts of Karnataka is being implemented. The training program aims at developing youth who are pursuing ITI courses. Admissions to the program will start in August 2021. A 96-hour intensive skill-oriented training program will be imparted in one trade - automobile assembly.

With the program, TKM will enable ITI students to acquire skills relevant to the manufacturing industry and improve their employment potential.  The youth will be trained by certified Toyota trainers having extensive hands-on experience in the globally renowned Toyota Production System. Upon successful completion of the training, the students will have to take up an exam, which will be jointly conducted by ITI and TKM, to be eligible for an apprenticeship in the automotive industry.
