* FMCG Sector Shows Discrepancy Trends in Q1-23.

Other notable findings include:

·         For Employment Verifications: IT, BFSI, Consulting, FMCG, E-commerce & Logistics, Manufacturing, Healthcare & Pharma sectors have shown a higher            inclination towards alternate modes of verification.

·         In Q1-23, sectors like BFSI, Education, IT, Manufacturing and Staffing accepting a higher percentage of alternate modes for conducting address verifications.

Fourth Edition of What Matters Emphasizes The Power Of innovation & Resilience

LG Electronics India Embarks On A Nationwide Mega Blood Donation Drive

* The drive will be conducted nationwide targeting 100 blood camps

Building upon the achievements of the previous campaign, LG now aims to amplify its efforts this year by organizing 100 camps across the country. Axis Bank Appoints former RBI Deputy Governor, N.S. Vishwanathan As Non-Executive (Part-Time) Chairman

The Board of Directors of Axis Bank at its meeting held today approved the appointment of N. S. Vishwanathan, Independent Director as the Non-Executive (Part-time) Chairman of the Bank for a period of three years, subject to approval of the shareholders of the Bank and Reserve Bank of India. His appointment will be effective from October 27, 2023 or the date of approval of his appointment by Reserve Bank of India (“Approval”) in case the Approval is not received prior to October 27, 2023.

Mr. Vishwanathan joined the Reserve Bank of India in 1981 and retired in March 2020 as the Deputy Governor, spanning an illustrious career of nearly four decades at the central bank. Throughout his time as the Deputy Governor, he demonstrated extensive knowledge and proficiency in central banking, which spanned across several critical domains including administration, banking and non-banking regulation, governance, risk management, and human resource management.

Mr. Vishwanathan also held other significant roles in his career, such as serving as the Director of Supervision at the Bank of Mauritius; Chief Vigilance Officer and Head of Internal Audit with the Industrial Financial Corporation of India. His dedication to the financial industry was further demonstrated during his tenure as a member of board at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), where he served from July 2016 to March 2020.

His academic achievements include a Master's Degree in Economics and a Bachelor's Degree in Arts from Bangalore University. He has completed an advanced leadership program at Judge Business School, Cambridge University, UK.

HCL Foundation, National Cooperative Union of India Join Hands To Enhance Livelihood Opportunities For Marginalized Groups

HCL Foundation, which delivers the corporate social responsibility (CSR) agenda of leading global technology company HCLTech, has partnered with the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) to train over 5,000 women, youths and artisans from marginalized communities for sustainable income-generating opportunities. As part of the tie-up, HCL Foundation and NCUI’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Cooperation (CEDC) will set up a livelihood-cum-entrepreneurship development center in Noida. 

“HCL Foundation is committed to enhancing the standard of living of the marginalized through its sustainable interventions. By joining hands with India’s leading cooperative institutes association, we aim to empower women, youths, and artisans across India and promote the cooperative movement,” said Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, Vice President, Global CSR, HCL Foundation. “The HCL Foundation-NCUI livelihood-cum-entrepreneurship development center will be a pioneering initiative to promote opportunities to earn skills and livelihood in diverse communities.” 

Over the next three years, NCUI and HCL Foundation will develop and provide training infrastructure, market platforms and branding support to self-help groups (SHGs) and cooperatives across India. 52% Students Under BYJU’S Career Plus Program (CPP) From 22 Aspirational Districts Have Qualified NEET UG 2023

* BYJU’S CPP student Mohammad Afzal Ganaie from Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir secured 95.07 percentile

* A total of 102 students have qualified the exam; 3 students have scored above 90 percentile

* Girls form about 61% of the qualifiers

BYJU’S Career Plus Program (CPP), an exclusive initiative for India’s aspirational districts in collaboration with NITI Aayog, has enabled students from these remote locations to achieve impressive results in the NEET UG examination 2023. Students hailing from economically backward backgrounds, who earlier had no means to prepare for one of the world’s toughest entrance exams, now could access BYJU’S high-quality tech-driven learning programs for free. Along with the support of BYJU’S fellows from CPP, 102 students out of the 195 who appeared, have qualified the coveted exam with outstanding results. With 3 students scoring more than 90 percentile, girls constitute about 61% of the qualifiers.  The results were announced by the National Testing Agency on June 13.

The qualifying students come from 22 different aspirational districts across India, which is a testament to BYJU’S CPP’S vision to reach and empower students at the grassroots level. Since 2021, BYJU’S Career Plus Program has supported numerous students from socio-economic weaker sections across 112 aspirational districts, providing them with free tech-driven learning programs to attempt and ace engineering and medical entrance exams.

SIDBI With “Buzz Women To Train 200 Rural Women” To Establish Business Enterprises In Arsikere Taluk, Hassan Dist, Karnataka

Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), in association with Buzz Women, an NGO based out of Bengaluru has taken up a rural enterprise creation programme. The programme [Buzz Vyapar Programme] aims at training 200 rural women to establish business enterprises in Arsikere Taluk of Hassan Dist. of Karnataka.  Under the initiative SIDBI, in association with Buzz Women, would provide these rural women with vocational skills alongwith mentorship support. The target is to impart entrepreneurship development training focussed on they themselves ideating a business model and equip them with hands-on ability to access finance and get self-employed. The project will also offer guidance and support to the women to start their new businesses.  

This project has been inaugurated on June 12, 2023, in the presence of more than 200 women beneficiaries form Arisikere Taluk, SIDBI Officials, team Buzz Women and other officials from Government of Karnataka from Arasikere Taluk & Hassan District.

A woman took charge of her husband’s business and doubled their income from Rs. 30,000 a month to Rs 60,000. Another woman increased the income of her family’s hotel business. We also have women starting garment units, goat rearing, beauty parlours, organic farming and creating opportunities for them to earn. We have already trained 2270 women in entrepreneurship in Bangalore Rural District alone. This new engagement with 200 new women entrepreneurs will strengthen rural entrepreneurship and help improve living standards of rural families.     

Under the programme, the participating women will attend classroom training sessions and field work during this year-long project. The women will also gain exposure to banking linkages, market connections and support required to launch and enhance their businesses.  By creating a strong income stream through entrepreneurship, these women free themselves from financial distress and gain agency in their lives. This is a tremendous step for them to break away from poverty and gain decision making powers in their homes.  The programs are built on the foundation of the 5 Cs - Cash, Care, Climate, Community, and Confidence. Buzz Women wishes to aid in combating poverty not only through a change management process that deals with the economical aspect of poverty, but also the ecological, psychological, and sociological aspects.

The fireside chat was organised at Simpl’s headquarters in Bengaluru on Thursday to celebrate the successful integration of Simpl’s 1-tap pay with ConfirmTkt to enable a seamless seat booking experience for millions of customers without any transaction failures.

Talking about the company’s journey over the last 8 years and acquisition by the ixigo group in 2021, the founders underlined the importance of being able to pivot the business model at the right time to ensure the company’s longevity and long-term success. Switzerland-based agency “Positive Impact Rating” has selected the Goa Institute of Management (GIM) as one top pioneering B-schools in the world for its dedication to responsible and sustainable practices in its latest report on global B-school ratings.

PNB Organizes “Rajbhasha Convention And Workshop”

Punjab National Bank (PNB), nation’s leading public sector bank, organized a convention and workshop for the Chairman and Secretaries of the Town Official Language Implementation Committees (TOLIC) at its headquarters in Dwarka. On this occasion, the bank released a book “Rajbhasha Path-Pradarshak” published by the Rajbhasha department. 

The event and book launch was attended by Smt. Anshuli Arya, IAS, Secretary in the Rajbhasha Department, Home Ministry, Government of India, as the Chief Guest, PNB MD & CEO, Shri Atul Kumar Goyal, and EDs, Shri Vijay Dube, Shri Kalyan Kumar and Shri Binod Kumar along with other senior officials.  

On this occasion, PNB MD & CEO, Sri Atul Kumar Goel said, “Hindi is the official language of this country and PNB is committed to its advancement. There are 28 NARAKAS functioning in the country which are being effectively coordinated by the PNB. The bank has been expanding its reach by integrating Hindi and other regional languages with its digital products.”

Allen's 30 Students In Top-100 Ranks In NEET Examination

ALLEN students have proved their excellence in the results of the country's biggest medical entrance exam, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG)-2023. Five students of ALLEN have made it to the top-20 AIR Ranks of NEET UG 2023.

Kotak’s ActivMoney Savings Account Holders To Earn FD Wala Interest Upto 7%* P.A. With ActivMoney

Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (“KMBL” / “Kotak”) today announced the launch of its ActivMoney feature which gives customers the benefit of FD like interest up to 7%* p.a., and the flexibility to access their funds anytime! Through ActivMoney, excess funds in the account, beyond a defined threshold, are automatically transferred into a Fixed Deposit, thereby helping customers earn a higher interest on their savings.

According to RBI data, as of March 2023**, the cumulative Savings Account deposit of all scheduled commercial banks in India is Rs 62.9 lakh crore that earns an industry average of 3.5% interest p.a., as against other instruments like Fixed Deposit, Liquid Funds etc. which gives them higher interest for a duration of six months to one year.
