Equitas Small Finance Bank Conducted Green Exhibit In Bangalore

Equitas Small Finance Bank conducted a plant exhibition in its HSR layout & Kasur Nagar branch in Bangalore. The event called as ‘Green exhibit’ had over 100 rare and unseen plants on display. With the aim to maintaining a sustainable environment for the future, the unique plant exhibition was also open for public to walk in and buy the plants.

Global Hospital, a centre for multi organ transplantation conducted the first ever small bowel transplant in Mumbai on Anirban Samanta, a 46 year old patient from Kolkata. Dr. Gaurav Chaubal with his team of doctors performed this complex surgery. Small bowel transplant, a complex and rare surgery has been conducted approximately 12-18 times in India. More than 50% of these surgeries were conducted in Maharashtra alone and this is the first surgery conducted in Mumbai. 

Mr. Anirban Samanta had diffuse severe abdominal pain in April 2022, which was diagnosed as Superior Mesenteric Artery Thrombosis leading to Bowel Gangrene for which he was treated at a local hospital. He underwent resection anastomosis and jejunostomy on 17th April 2022. He was on parenteral nutrition since then and was listed with ZTCC in May 2022. An alert was received on 18th May 2022, and the team went for retrieval after receiving a negative report on the CDC cross match. 

Dr. Gaurav Chaubal,  Director - liver, pancreas, intestine transplant programme and HPB surgery at Global Hospital, Parel, said, “The donation of the Small Bowel is important to treat people who suffer bowel failures caused by twisting of the bowel, birth defects, or when a part of the bowel tissue dies. Dr. Chaubal added, “Early last month, Anirban was listed with the Zonal Transplant Coordination Center (ZTCC), Mumbai, for an organ transplant as this was the only treatment available for him given the challenges he faced. The patient has shown phenomenal progress post- surgery and has fully recovered. I urge people to come forward and donate organs for those who are in need, this might give them a new hope to live their lives.” Dr. Chaubal has successfully conducted over 600 complex surgeries like Living donor Intestine Transplants, Liver Transplants, Simultaneous Kidney Pancreas transplant, Simultaneous Liver Kidney Transplants and complex HepatoPancreaticoBiliary surgeries. 

Small bowel transplant may be considered for people with bowel failure who develop complications from total parenteral nutrition (TPN - where a person requires all their nutrition to be given through a drip into a vein because their bowel is unable to absorb nutrients from any food they eat). Bowel failure means a person's bowel is not able to absorb enough nutrients from food. It's most often caused by either short bowel syndrome or a non-functioning bowel. Intestinal transplants are very complex and rare across the world and very few doctors have specialisation in such transplants. Small bowel is a complex organ and transplants are prone to rejection. Dr Gaurav is trained to do such surgeries and has the largest series of small bowel transplants in western India including Living donor small bowel transplants. Such rare and complex case studies have helped us set new benchmarks not only in India but internationally too.

Mr. Anirban Samanta said, “When I was in Kolkata the doctors there lost all the hope that I would even survive more than two months and then later when we got to know about Dr Gaurav Chaubal who specialises in such cases and we came down to Mumbai to meet him and we got hope that I might survive through this. And my surgery was successful. Me and my family feel blessed and grateful that the transplant was successful, considering that just a few dozen small bowel transplants have been performed in the country so far. We would like to thank the donor family for taking the magnanimous decision of donating organs in time of grief for them.

Karnataka Bolstering Its Capabilities In Cyber Security With The Centre of Excellence Cyber-Verse In Mysuru

The Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Cyber-verse, located at Mysuru was inaugurated today at Vikasa Soudha, Bengaluru by Hon’ble Minister Dr Ashwathnarayan, Dept of Electronics IT BT S&T, Higher education, Skill development and entrepreneurship, His Highness Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Chairman, Bherunda Foundation, Her Highness Trishika Kumari Wadiyar, Chairman Cyberverse, Mr Sanjeev Gupta, CEO, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, Mr Kanthararaje Urs, Managing Trustee at MYRA and Director at Cyber-verse, Dr R Ambarish, Dean Myra School of Business, Mr Anand Naidu, Group Captain, Director, Cyberverse & ISAC, and Mr Karthik Verma, CTO, ISAC.

Cyber-verse is a Section-8, not-for-profit organization set up by Bherunda Foundation, ISAC, and MYRA school of business. The COE Cyber Security Cyber-verse, Mysuru is spread over about 4,000 sq. ft area with a Phygital Lab - that can train 50 students hands-on, in more than 200 cyber-security scenarios and themes related to practical applicability, SOC simulator, Virtual Labs - a cyber-security scenario simulator equipped with more than 500 scenarios, Hyacinth platform - for attack & defence simulation in cyberspace, Malware repository – that includes more than 1.5 million malware available for the start-up ecosystem to test the robustness of their products and services, Policy & research wing - to focus on developing various policies based on cyber security.

American Airlines And Indigo Launch Codeshare Agreement In India

This week American Airlines launched its codeshare agreement with India’s leading airline, IndiGo, adding new options for customers traveling to India.

American’s customers are now able to book travel beyond Delhi on two of IndiGo’s domestic routes, Bangalore (BLR) and Mumbai (BOM), providing a convenient option for customers arriving on American’s New York (JFK)- Delhi (DEL) flight. American and IndiGo plan to expand the codeshare in the near future to include more than a dozen additional destinations in India.

Olam’s Mobile App Adva, Designed By Moonraft, Wins iF Design Award

Moonraft, the experience and innovation design arm of UST, announced that Adva, a mobile app it designed for Olam Group, has won an iF Design Award for its user interface. Out of almost 11,000 entries from 57 countries, Adva’s innovative approach to carbon impact measurement through gamified experiences won over the 132-member jury, made up of independent experts from all over the world.

Adva is an education and action-oriented app designed to create a global environmental movement through collective individual action. It helps people adjust their living habits to reduce their impact on carbon emissions through their daily activities and works toward a more carbon-neutral society. METRO, Capillary Technologies Team-Up To Helm Multi-Country B2B Loyalty In 24 Countries Across Europe

Phase 1 of the loyalty implementation will be rolled out in 11 countries initially, among them France, Romania and Poland. Ayana To Advance Govt Of Karnataka’s Clean Energy Capacity

* The Company has signed an Expression of Interest with the Government of Karnataka to develop 2 GW of renewable energy projects

National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) backed Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited (Ayana), one of India’s largest renewable energy producers, is set to expand Karnataka’s clean energy capacity.

The Company has signed an expression of interest with the Government of Karnataka to develop wind and solar power projects totaling 2-gigawatt (GW) capacity in Karnataka with an investment of around INR 120 billion. This capacity addition will be enough to provide clean energy for nearly 2 million households. At present, Ayana has an operational portfolio of 340 megawatt-alternate current (MWAC) in the State.

ACMA And Hero MotoCorp Collaborate For First-Ever EV Tech Expo

The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the apex body of the Indian auto component industry, and Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, today kicked-off a one-of-its-kind EV Technology Expo. The Expo will be held on 8th and 9th June, 2022 in Jaipur.

Whist ACMA regularly organises tech-shows for OEMs, these have been largely in the conventional ICE domain. This is, however, for the first time, that ACMA is organising a tech-show dedicated to components of Electric Vehicles (EVs).

The two days event supported by the Ministry of Information and Technology, Government of India was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister / Minister of IT & education, Govt of Karnataka Dr Ashwath Narayan.

Organized by All India Council for Robotics & Automation (AICRA) under the India startup mission IFTSC witnessed the presence of ISRO Chairman S.
