India: Responding to an increased interests from students for Ireland, Education in Ireland – ‘the Irish government’s national brand promoting Irish Higher Education Institutions’ successfully concluded its first post-pandemic in-person Education Fair in Bengaluru.

Ireland is one of the top hubs for international students seeking higher education, with a fairly significant contingent from India. Present at the fairs were 16 higher education institutions from Ireland, having discussions with over 350 students and parents in Bengaluru.

The relaunch of in-person fairs came with a plethora of opportunities for its attendees and offered key insights to students regarding programmes available, intakes, offerings, campus life, accommodation, international student support, scholarships, and culture. Dialogues on visa processing formed an integral part of this fair, helping students understand the road map to apply to study in Ireland for the academic year 2023-2024.

Ireland in particular has proved to be an enticing prospect for international students. In the last academic cycle over 5000 Indian students chose Ireland as their study-abroad destination. With reference to the fairs, Mr. Barry O'Driscoll, Regional Manager, India & South Asia for Education in Ireland said, “We’re extremely delighted to be back with our first in-person fairs post-pandemic. The fairs provide a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to meet with and have their queries answered including the courses, career advancements, and offerings, answered directly by representatives from Ireland's leading higher education institutions. Our goal is to help students make informed decisions about their education journey and achieve great success in life and we believe we were able to address their objectives to a great extent.”

Engineering, Computing, Business, Nursing, and Social Sciences are popular courses which Indian students pursue in Ireland. More recently there has been an increased interest in courses that focus on emerging technologies such as AI, Agri-Tech, Data Analytics, Fin-Tech and Cyber Security.

Ireland also has been very popular among Indian students for its two-year stay-back option advantage. Moreover, the country is known for their friendliness and kindness, which makes it simple for international students to adapt to Irish culture and, in particular, student life. With its multicultural society, high education Standards, safe and welcoming environment.
