MAHE Launches CSR Project ‘RePen’ To Curb Single Use Pens And Help To Reduce Carbon Footprints


Vice Chancellor of MAHE, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh launched the CSR project entitled ‘RePen’ which aims to discourage the use of single use pens and encourage refill system. Eco Club of Manipal College of Dental Science, MAHE received a CSR funding from Shyama Jewels Puttur Pvt. Ltd. to carry out this RePen project.

Speaking during the occasion Dr M Vidya Saraswathi, Associate Dean and Faculty Advisor - Eco Club, Manipal College of Dental Science, MAHE, said ‘we need to create awareness to reuse pens and help to reduce the carbon footprints. The empty plastic refills can be used as raw materials for making crafts.’

MAHE Registrar, Dr Narayana Sabhahit said, ‘by opting for good quality reusable pens, one can reduce plastic waste being generated by throwing millions of single use pens.’

‘It is important to create awareness among institutional buyers to buy pens along with refills and make reusable pens more popular’ said Mr C G Muthana, Chief Operating Officer, MAHE.

Mr S.P. Kar, Director Public Relations & Media and Social Media, MAHE said, ‘I wish this CSR initiative a great success and request everyone to use reusable pens.’

‘The launch of this CSR project coincides with the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada' an initiation of Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, where one of the objectives is to curb the use of single-use plastics’ said Dr Raviraja N. S, Director- Corporate Relations, MAHE
