FIGSI To Build Centre Of Stone Excellence At Hosur In Tamilnadu


* CSE to establish stone museum of international standards

Federation of Indian Granite and Stone Industry (FIGSI) is an All India body having 1,300 members throughout the country serving for the benefit of Natural Stone Industry of India for the last 39 years. FIGSI conducts International Stone Fair popularly known as STONA once in 2 years and has already announced its 15th edition of the fair during Feb 2023.

The Chief objective of the Federation being promotion of the Natural Stone Industries, which comes under the category of Ornamental or Decorative building stones like Granites, Marbles, Sandstones, Slates, Quartzite and ancillary and auxiliary Industries of Machinery, Tools, Abrasives, Consumables related to stone Industries and conduct Conferences, workshops on each and every aspect of Stone Industry.

FIGSI endeavors to act as a bridge between Industry and the Government in bringing constant improvement in mineral regulation, policies, processes, systems and procedures. It proactively promotes upgradation of technology aimed at mine safety, productivity, cost efficiency and quality improvement.

Federation is working tirelessly for the betterment of the Natural Stone Industry and looking into the present conditions FIGSI decided to establish training and skill development centers for the Natural Stone Industry in order to train worker force both in the quarry and processing sector. In this endeavor already on 21st Feb 2022, ‘Bhoomi Puja’ was conducted in the property owned by FIGSI at Mahindra World City Jaipur which will cater to the requirements of the West and North India.

The ‘Bhoomi Puja’ for the Centre of Stone Excellence at Hosur was held today and the construction work will start after getting all the statutory requirements from the government departments. It is proposed to be completed within a span of 10-12 months.

“Vivekananda Global University (VGU) is our knowledge partners who are having a global University at Jaipur wherein there are more than 5,000 students and they will be running the entire program of imparting skill development training to the existing workforce, middle level management and senior level management. The skill development will be given also to the unemployed youths in the stone sector,” apprised Mr Ishwinder Singh, President, FIGSI.

In this Centre for Excellence both at Jaipur and Hosur, the Federation will be establishing a Stone Museum of International standards wherein we will be displaying various varieties of Granites and other natural stones  in different forms including monuments and artifacts from all over India.

Bhoomi Puja was done by Mr. Ishwinder Singh, President FIGSI along with Mr R. Veeramani Founder President, Mr. R. Sekar, Imm. Past President, Office Bearers, Executive Committee Members, and all the members of the stone fraternity.
