MAHE Celebrated National Science Day On Feb 28, 2023 With Enthusiasm


Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal recently celebrated National Science Day on February 28, 2023, at Fortune Inn Valley View, in the presence of dignitaries

Dr. P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya Vice-Chancellor, Mangalore University as theChief Guest ; Lt Gen (Dr) MD Venkatesh Vice-Chancellor, MAHE; Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Pro VC, Technology & Science, Dr Giridhar Kini, Registrar, MAHE along with HODs and HOIs. The event was organized to commemorate the discovery of the 'Raman Effect' by Sir CV Raman on February 28, 1928, and to highlight the importance of science and its impact on everyday life. Students, from over 25 educational institutions, comprising various Schools and Colleges represented the event.

For the past 20 years, MAHE has been organising various activities such as model building, drawing, and elocution competitions on defined themes for higher primary and high school children in the region. Additionally, MAHE hosts school toppers for a week-long residential, hands-on science training program at the Manipal School of Life Sciences (MSLS), culminating in a science exhibition and the Science Day celebrations.

Dr. P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, Vice-Chancellor, Mangalore University said, "Science has the transformative power to ensure education, health, and food for all. Observation, experimentation, and analysis are the three key attributes of a scientific attitude among youngsters. Students and researchers should have a malleable mind so that they can be ready to learn, unlearn, and re-learn whenever presented with an opportunity. They should possess passion and conviction in their actions while having the courage to fail and the confidence to win. Furthermore, raising public awareness on the significance of science and its applications in technology is crucial."

Speaking about the celebration, Lt Gen (Dr) MD Venkatesh Vice-Chancellor of MAHE said, "National Science Day celebrations are an excellent platform to promote scientific temper among students. It is essential to inculcate a scientific attitude in every walk of life to bring about significant development in society. I urge all students to pursue their goals in the diverse fields of science."

Dr Yadapadithaya's views were endorsed and echoed by Lt Gen (Dr) MD Venkatesh in his presidential address. Dr Yadapadithaya, Lt Gen (Dr) MD Venkatesh, Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Dr Giridhar Kini, and Dr Satish Rao presented the prizes to winners of various competitions held as part of the Science Day activities. Dr Narayana Sabhahit delivered the welcome address, Dr Bharath Prasad (Assistant Professor, MSLS MAHE) introduced the chief guest, and later, Dr. Giridhar Kini proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries and participants who made the celebration a grand success.

The event served as an excellent platform for students to showcase their scientific skills and knowledge while imbibing the essence of scientific inquiry, exploration, and innovation. MAHE's National Science Day celebration was a grand success, inspiring and motivating students to pursue their interest in science and explore its potential in solving real-world problems.
