WinZO forges Exclusive Partnership with Balaji Telefilms For Microdrama On India’s First Transmedia Platform

  • WinZO is redefining storytelling for the mobile-first world: fusing 2-minute games, 2-minute stories, and audio dramas.

  • With Balaji Telefilms onboard, cinematic storytelling meets the power of India’s largest interactive entertainment platform.

WinZO, India’s largest interactive entertainment platform with 250 million users announced a landmark partnership with Balaji Telefilms to create India’s first transmedia universe, a creative ecosystem where stories, games, and characters move seamlessly across formats. Within just three months of launching its microdrama platform ZO TV, WinZO has crossed 500 titles globally acquired or commissioned in India, marking the fastest content expansion in the short-format entertainment space. This milestone places India firmly on the global map of the USD 26 billion short-drama industry, one of the fastest-growing creative categories worldwide.

The company is leveraging its successful legacy in publishing and distributing over 100 games, curating a tight-knit community of 75,000 content creators, and tapping into the needs of 250 million users in established markets like India and the US, as well as emerging markets such as Brazil to cross over 100 million episodes viewed on the platform in a short span, defining the new creative economy, where entertainment, technology, and culture intersect.

Globally, microdrama has witnessed explosive growth in market size, user base, mobile app downloads, and content creation. The global short-drama industry is expected to grow from USD 12 billion in 2025 to USD 26 billion by 2030. To truly create a global transmedia franchise, India needs to produce content of the caliber of cinema in the microdrama format. WinZO’s exclusive long-term partnership with Balaji Telefilms is aimed at achieving this goal. Balaji Telefilms, the studio that redefined Indian television and streaming content, joins forces with WinZO to create premium microdramas with cinematic quality and cultural depth, designed for both Indian and global audiences.

“We’re building the world’s first transmedia platform from India, where games, stories, and other digital experiences coexist. To do that, we’re partnering and investing to bring the entire creative ecosystem together,” said Paavan Nanda, Co-founder, WinZO. “Microdramas are the next global frontier. Our strategic  partnership with Balaji brings together the best storytellers and the best technology to create real, relatable stories that resonate with India and the world. We are excited to bring stories through this partnership to our over 250 million registered user base.”

Ekta Kapoor, Joint Managing Director, Balaji Telefilms Ltd, said: “Balaji has always believed that storytelling must evolve with the times. From television to digital and now to micro dramas, our journey has been driven by innovation and the desire to connect deeply with audiences everywhere. Through this collaboration with WinZO we’re creating micro dramas that reflect India’s evolving digital culture”

Nitin Burman,CRO, Balaji Telefilms Ltd, added: Audiences today are consuming content in shorter bursts but still crave emotion, drama, and connection, the very pillars of Balaji’s storytelling. This partnership with WinZO is a powerful convergence of creativity and technology, where technology enhances reach and storytelling becomes more interactive, and engaging than ever before.”

WinZO aims to create a creative shift in the category by focusing on quality writing, authentic characters, and deeply rooted cultural narratives that preserve India’s storytelling soul while laying the foundation for a global transmedia franchise. The company is also investing in India’s next generation of storytellers through workshops, creator accelerators, and industry collaborations at marquee forums such as the Waves Film Bazaar and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). These initiatives aim to nurture a new wave of creators who will tell India’s stories to the world, with microdrama as their first step into transmedia.

Speaking about the new facility, Dr. Neema Bhat, Senior Consultant Hematology BMT Physician and Paediatric Oncology, Apollo Cancer Centre, Bengaluru, said, “This launch marks another significant step in Apollo Hospital’s ongoing mission to make high-end cancer care more accessible in Karnataka. The new centre will cater to a wide range of patients requiring transplants for various conditions, including leukaemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, aplastic anaemia, thalassemia, and other complex hematologic disorders. It will be supported by an experienced team of haematologists, oncologists, infectious disease specialists, and critical care experts, working together to provide seamless care from diagnosis to post-transplant recovery. By providing advanced treatment options, the centre aims to improve survival outcomes and quality of life for the patients.”

Prof Dr Vishwanath S - Senior Consultant and Academic Advisor - Medical Oncology and Haemato oncology, Bengaluru, added, “A dedicated cellular therapy and transplant program must function on clinical discipline. What sets this centre apart is its focus on protocol fidelity, academic oversight, and rigorous infection-control systems. These elements are fundamental to delivering transplants safely and consistently within a well-structured clinical environment.”

Prof. Dr. Vijay Agarwal, Senior and Lead consultant - Medical Oncology, Bengaluru, said “The future of cancer treatment lies in harnessing the body’s own cells to fight disease. With the establishment of this centre, we are creating an ecosystem that combines advanced research, clinical expertise, and compassionate care. Commenting on the significance of the new center, Dr. Aditya Murali, Senior Consultant – Medical Oncology and Haemato oncology, Apollo Cancer Centre, Bengaluru, said, “Cellular therapies are evolving at a remarkable pace, spanning allogeneic and haploidentical transplants to increasingly sophisticated immune-engineered interventions. Delivering these modalities requires controlled environments, multidisciplinary coordination, and strict adherence to validated clinical protocols. This facility strengthens our ability to administer such therapies with the precision they demand.”

Apollo Hospitals has been at the forefront of expanding Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) programs across the country, with successful units in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam. The new launch in Bengaluru extends Apollo’s cellular therapy and comprehensive transplant and expertise to southern Karnataka and neighbouring regions, reinforcing its position as one of India’s most trusted destinations for advanced cancer and haematology care.
