The East Point Nursing Institutions, which includes East Point College of Nursing, New Royal College of Nursing, and East Point School of Nursing, hosted the Orientation Programme for the First Semester B.Sc. Nursing and First-Year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) students for the academic year 2026–27.
The occasion was graced by Sr. Pushpa Jannapa, Nursing Superintendent, St. Martha’s Hospital, Bengaluru, as the Chief Guest. Smt. B. L. Ramadevi Venkatpathi, Chairperson, East Point Group of Institutions; Dr. T. Rajeshwari , Medical Advisor, East Point College of Medical Sciences & Research Centre; and Dr. G. Indumathi, Dean of Academics, East Point Group of Institutions, were also present.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof.Mini M.V., HOD Medical Surgical Nursing, New Royal College of Nursing. Dr. Jacintha R. Mariyappa, Principal, East Point College of Nursing, formally introduced East Point Nursing Institution to incoming students, setting the tone for their academic journey while highlighting the institution's high academic standards. Emphasizing the scope and future of nursing, Dr. G. Indumathi, Dean of Academics, addressed the students on the essential values and institutional expectations required for their success at East Point.
Addressing the incoming batch, Chief Guest Sr. Pushpa Jannapa highlighted nursing’s noble purpose and transformative power. Drawing inspiration from Florence Nightingale, she emphasized empathy, discipline, wisdom, and selfless service. She urged students to transition from academic learning to compassionate clinical practice while upholding ethics and a positive attitude. Applauding their choice of the East Point Group of Institutions, Sr. Pushpa reminded them that as vital caregivers to vulnerable patients, nurses must balance clinical competence and emotional sensitivity with an unwavering commitment to service.
Highlighting the institution's interdisciplinary setup, Sri S. V. Pramod Gowda, Trustee & CEO, East Point Group of Institutions, stated: "Nursing is a profession that combines scientific knowledge, clinical expertise, and a deep sense of humanity. Our students learn within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment that integrates a Medical College alongside colleges of Physiotherapy, Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, and GNM."
Adding to this perspective, Sri S. V.
