Nexus Select Trust To Launch India's First Retail REIT IPO On May 9

 

* Nexus Select Trust REIT IPO's price band has been announced in the range of Rs 95–100 per unit.

Blackstone-backed Nexus Select Trust REIT Ltd's initial public offer will open for subscription on Tuesday, May 9, and close on Thursday, May 11 The company has fixed a price band of Rs 95–100 per unit. The bidding for anchor investors will open on May 8, 2023.

The public issue comprises fresh issuance of units aggregating up to Rs 1,400 crore and an offer for sale of units by the selling unitholders aggregating up to Rs 1,800 crore. The company had earlier planned to raise around Rs 4,000 crore through the initial share sale. The company aims to use the net proceeds towards partial or full repayment or prepayment and redemption of certain financial financial indebtedness of the asset special purpose vehicles and the investment entity; acquisition of stake and redemption of debt securities in certain asset SPVs; and general purposes, it said in its draft red herring prospectus.

The company is expected to be the first publicly listed consumption centre REIT, making it the first REIT retail asset offering in India. The current REITs—Embassy Office Parks REIT, Mindspace Business Parks REIT and Brookfield India Real Estate Trust—listed on stock exchanges are all backed by office assets.

REITs aim to attract investment in the real estate sector by monetising and unlocking the value of the rent-yielding assets. Nexus Select Trust has a portfolio of 17 operational shopping malls in several cities, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai and Pune, covering an area of 9.8 million square feet.

Its portfolio of assets comprises 17 Grade A urban consumption centres with a total leasable area of 9.2 million sq. ft., two hotel assets and three office assets as of Dec. 31, 2022. The REIT counts Delhi's prominent Select Citywalk mall in its portfolio. The company's net loss narrowed to Rs 10.9 crore in fiscal 2022 in comparison with Rs 199 crore in fiscal 2021, while its revenue from operations rose to Rs 1,318 crore against Rs 906.9 crore. 

Wynford Investments Ltd., a portfolio company of Blackstone Funds, is the sponsor of Nexus Select Trust and Nexus Select Mall Management Pvt. is the manager. Axis Capital, IIFL Securities, Morgan Stanley, and BofA Securities India are among the book-running lead managers to the IPO.

Shares of Nexus Select Trust are expected to debut on the BSE and the NSE on May 19.

Meghalaya Government Launches A “Helpline For Assistance" And Organises "Special Flights To Bring Back Stranded Citizens”

Due to the unfortunate situation in Manipur, the Government of Meghalaya is taking all possible measures in evacuating students and civilians from that state. With the use of special flights, Meghalaya is bringing its stranded people from Manipur, including 50 students from the Agriculture University, 10 students from Food Technology Institute, 25 members of the Lajong football team, and others. 

The Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with the PMO, Ministry of Home Affairs, DG Assam Rifles, Ministry of Civil Aviation, and private airlines, took all essential safety precautions to guarantee the passengers' safety throughout flight.  

As of Friday noon, more than 25 citizens are on the way to Meghalaya via Guwahati through different flights. Along with flights, special buses are bringing over 60 students to Meghalaya. 

Additionally, the Government of Meghalaya has also launched a helpline for citizens who may require further assistance. The helpline number is 1800-345-3644, and citizens can call for any kind of assistance they may need. We are working closely with the Union & State governments, security agencies to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made for the safe return of our students and citizens.”

The exhibition of Udupi Sarees aims to bring attention to the significance of sustainable fashion and conversations about conscious consumption, said the organizers of ‘Neyge.’ The two-day exhibition will include special talks on sustainable living with Udupi sarees by different scholars, academicians, and weavers, documentary screenings, workshops, etc. This is an attempt to bring Udupi sarees which are close to the philosophy of nature, to the younger generation.

The program will be inaugurated by Mrs. Indira Ballal, Philanthropist, at 10 am at Gandhian Centre, MAHE, on May 5th, 2023. Mrs. Mamata Rai, President Kadike Trust, will be the Guest of Honour, and Dr. HS Ballal, Pro-Chancellor MAHE, will be presiding over the inauguration ceremony. This will be followed by documentary screenings. The event will include an exhibition of Udupi sarees, a photo exhibition, a history corner, a Yakshagana Corner, and a sale of Udupi sarees by the weavers.  

Next day (May 6th), Dr. Veena Rao, Head, Department of Design, MAHE, will conduct a workshop on sustainable clothing out of Banana fibre at 3.30 PM, and it will be followed by the valedictory program at 5 pm. Dr. Sulatha Bandhari, President of Manipal Mahila Samaj, will be the Chief Guest of the event. Udupi sarees which are a part of this region, are a type of handwoven sarees made of single-ply cotton yarns and natural dyes and cause little to no ecological damage. They are extremely light and comfortable to wear. The socio-technology of production of Udupi Sarees provides a promising model of financial, social, and environmental sustainability.

Gandhi-King Fellowship being awarded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, USA. The ultimate goal of the Gandhi-King Fellowship is to inspire and develop a network of aspiring young civic leaders from India and the USA to work together to advance civil rights, social justice, and inclusion locally, nationally, and internationally by exploring the history and legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Lavanya N K, who is an alumna of GCPAS, MAHE and Roydon, a commerce graduate from Mumbai are the two recipients of Gandhi-King Fellowship who participated in the training program held at University of Alabama in 2022.
