Amrutanjan Healthcare’s Comfy Aims To Elevate Women’s Menstrual Health And Hygiene

* Offers high quality affordable and accessible solutions

* Launches a multi-media campaign featuring Shraddha Kapoor to create awareness about usage and benefits of sanitary napkins vis-à-vis cloth

Comfy Snug Fit, a fast growing menstrual hygiene brand from the house of Amrutanjan Healthcare Limited (Amrutanjan Healthcare), brings new hope in women hygiene market with its superior technology to provide affordable and high quality sanitary napkins. The brand is striving to provide hygienic menstruation solutions to cloth users, and will drive awareness campaign to educate cloth users about health and hygiene benefits of choosing sanitary napkins over cloth. It has roped in renowned actress Shraddha Kapoor to drive awareness campaign around menstrual hygiene.

Studies have shown that out of the 355 million* menstruating women in India, about a third use only cloth for their menstrual hygiene management. Only 38 per cent * menstruating girls in India spoke to their mothers about menstruation. Nearly 23 million* girls drop out of school annually due to lack of proper menstrual hygiene management facilities. This lack of menstrual hygiene is leading to serious health issues for women in the country. Nearly 60,000 cases* of cervical cancer deaths are reported every year from India, two third of which are due to poor menstrual hygiene. Accessibility and affordability of high quality products are major barriers to better menstrual health.

Sharing his thoughts, Mr. S. Sambhu Prasad, Chairman & Managing Director, Amrutanjan Health Care Limited, says, “The level of awareness and education regarding women’s menstrual health and hygiene remains low and is still considered as stigma in major parts of our country. As a purpose led company, we will launch a campaign aimed at raising awareness about women’s health and hygiene, in an effort to empower the women of India. We at Amrutanjan Healthcare, aim to elevate this issue which is one of the major concerns in the country and provide hygienic high quality solutions at affordable price point. With this goal we will strengthen our Comfy Snug Fit brand further. We are making sure we have robust distribution across the rural and rest of urban markets ensuring easy accessibility of the product. Comfy has grown over 5 times in last five years and our ambition is to be in top three in next 2-3 years.”

Starting at Rs. 20, Amrutanjan was the first company to launch a high quality napkin at a price point that was affordable to larger audience. Amrutanjan healthcare has partnered with TZMO Europe to obtain better technology and also made with pulp from North America. Additionally, the company also roped in an expert consultant from Israel for technical knowhow which has enabled it to develop a superior product. Comfy promises 80% better absorption than other leading brands in India.

The brand will launch a new campaign to drive home the important message of menstrual health and hygiene. The campaign will be launched on a variety of platforms across multiple media, including TV, digital and in-store.

Mr. Mani Bhagavatheeswaran, Chief Marketing Officer, Amrutanjan Health Care Limited,  “About 2-3% of women* in rural India use sanitary napkins while majority of the rest depend on cloth. Our new campaign aims to educate them on benefits of using a sanitary napkin. As a brand which works closely to elevate the women hygiene solutions, we are excited to accelerate our journey by having Shraddha Kapoor as our first ever brand ambassador on board. She is highly popular and connects with the target audience. Additionally, having spoken out vocally about issues close to her heart, she brings an authenticity and credibility to her role as ambassador and we are looking forward to a long and fulfilling partnership together.”

Commenting on the initiative, Shraddha Kapoor says, “I am extremely delighted to be partnering with Amrutanjan Healthcare for their range of Comfy Snug Fit sanitary napkins. Their endeavour to provide feminine hygiene solutions to women across the nation and spread awareness about the topic is truly commendable. As a woman, I've always actively supported the cause of menstrual hygiene. Talking about periods in India is still taboo. As per reports, many girls drop out of school each year when they start their periods. Using cloth is still the norm in many parts of the country, and it poses hygiene risks for girls. Not only is it uncomfortable, cloth has a high probability of infections.  I urge girls to use safer, better hygienic products such as the Comfy sanitary napkin. I am glad I could play a role in promoting women’s health on a national scale by associating with a brand from the house of Amrutanjan Healthcare, which is caring, healing and touching lives for 127 years.”

Conceptualised by RK Swamy BBDO, the campaign has a unique and informative advertisement storyline. In the ad, Shraddha Kapoor can be seen shooting in a village, when a young village girl comments at the end of her shot. They strike up a conversation and it is revealed that the young girl is preparing to go to college, but is afraid of ‘that time of the month’, as she puts it. The dazzling Shraddha Kapoor comforts the girl and gives her a packet of Comfy Snug Fit Sanitary Napkin from her bag. Although wary at first, upon seeing the price blurb on the packet, both the girl and her mother who is also in the background, break into a smile. The ad ends with an infographic describing the technology used in the napkins to ensure a dry and comfortable experience.

Commenting on the campaign, Ms. Navneet Virk, Creative Head – South, R K SWAMY BBDO, says, “We built this campaign on the insight that small changes in life can make a big difference. If a young girl can comfortably and hygienically manage her period, she can go to college, and she can have access to better education, better opportunities and in the long term build a better life for herself. Typically for every girl, college life is a turning point and if things pertaining to period go wrong, many tend to drop out or stay home out only out of sheer embarrassment. Thus at this critical juncture in a girls life, through this TVC, Comfy wants to hold her hand and ease her over this threshold into a better tomorrow, helping her step out with confidence, helping her fly instead of feeling tied do. We wanted to cue liberation and that’s what the powerful campaign line does, 'Mud ke nahin, ud ke dekho!(don’t turn back to check for stains, just fly). That’s been Comfy's promise, that every young girl should have the power to be herself and discover her full potential.”

Epson Receives The Prime Minister's Prize At National Commendation For Invention 2021

* Prize for inventing a high-brightness, high-image-quality projector using laser light source

Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, "Epson") today announced that, "The Invention of a High-Brightness, High-Image-Quality Projector using Monochromatic Laser Light Source (Japanese Patent No. 5928569)" has received the Prime Minister's Prize at the National Commendation for Invention 2021 (sponsored by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation). This is the second time that Epson has received this prize since 1974, when Epson received this prize for Japanese Utility Model Registration No. 957711 for "The Invention of a Device for Correcting the Date and Day of the Week of a Calendar Watch."

A ceremony will be held on June 22 at The Okura Tokyo, Minato Ward, Tokyo.

The National Commendation for Invention*1 are awarded by the Japanese Imperial Family*2 and are intended to contribute to the improvement of science and technology and the development of industry by honoring those who have completed or implemented inventions in Japan and those who have contributed to the promotion of inventions. The winner of the best invention or design receives the Imperial Invention Prize, followed by the Prime Minister's Prize.

*1: The National Commendation for Invention started with the first Imperial Commendation for Invention in 1919, and is sponsored by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan Patent Office, Japan Business Federation, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Japan Patent Attorneys Association, and the Asahi Shimbun Company.

*2: On the Emperor's Birthday, the Imperial Family grants funds to encourage inventions.

The invention that was the subject of the prize this time is technology that generates red, green, and blue projection light using laser light and a phosphor wheel. In addition, the laser light is digitally blinked to enable brightness adjustment while preventing flicker from appearing in the projection image. By adopting this technology, we have achieved high brightness and high image quality for laser projectors.

The Winners' Comments

Takashi Toyooka

"It's a great honor for us to have created a projector with high brightness and high image quality using this invention and other technologies, and to have been able to contribute to the development of new image expressions such as projection mapping and digital art. We believe this prize is recognition for the image technology developed by Epson through the effort of our many colleagues. We will continue to pursue value from large-screen images and the beauty of light, and we will continue to develop technology that enriches communities."

Makoto Zakoji

"It's a great honor to receive the Prime Minister's Prize. Creating a laser projector that includes the present invention meant we had to build a new product from the bottom up, from basic development through to the commercialization stages. It was tough overcoming some of the issues, but I think this prize acknowledges that laser projectors have now become more widespread worldwide. I'm delighted that the hard work of all our colleagues have been recognized in this way. We will continue to work to develop technology that will help bring projectors closer to people and make them more user-friendly."

Compared with lamp light source models, laser projectors have higher brightness, longer operating life, and smaller size, thus reducing environmental impact. Illumination is instantaneous, and they can project from various angles so there are no restrictions on the installation angle meaning they are handy for projecting on the ceiling or floor. In addition, the use of this technology makes it easy to digitally adjust the brightness of the projected image, making it very convenient for various environments.

Projectors using this technology are are used for fantastic spatial design with vivid projection images at MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM: EPSON teamLab Borderless (Koto Ward, Tokyo). They also contribute to arts and culture, as a tool for creating new image expressions.

Overview of the Invention

In the present invention, attention was focused on the fact that a desired color light can be generated by irradiating a phosphor material with laser light. A phosphor wheel is irradiated by monochromatic laser light, and red, green, and blue light are then produced from the resultant fluorescent light (yellow = red + green) and the monochromatic laser light (blue) and used as projection light. For the brightness adjustment function required for projectors, the laser light is digitally blinked using a frequency signal with pulse widths having lengths corresponding to the desired brightness. Because image flicker occurs when the blinking frequency and the rotation frequency of the phosphor wheel interfere with each other, the two frequencies were optimally set. By the above, a high-brightness and high-image-quality projector has been realized that has a long operating life, is highly convenient, and can be used for projection mapping and the like. In particular, its brightness can be controlled digitally and more accurately so the projectors can be easily used in situations that require many projectors, such as spatial design.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Clocks Wholesales Of 707 Units In The Month Of May 2021

* Registers over 100% growth in cumulative wholesales from January to May in 2021 when compared to the corresponding period in 2020

Toyota Kirloskar Motor today announced that the company sold a total of 707 units in the month of May 2021, amidst the prevailing restrictions & sporadic lockdowns in several parts of the country. Even before the state-wide lockdown was declared in Karnataka, TKM had already announced its annual maintenance shutdown at its plant in Bidadi, starting on the 26th of April until the 14th of May, so as to enhance its operational efficiencies. This further added to the number of non-production days at it’s plant in Bidadi. For reference, TKM had reported wholesales of 1639 units in the month of May 2020 and 9622 units in the month of April 2021. The cumulative wholesales of TKM in the first five months of 2021, stands at 50,531 units when compared to 24,820 units sold in the corresponding period last year, thereby registering a growth of 104%.

Commenting on the situation, Mr. Naveen Soni, Sr. Vice President, TKM said, “Last month witnessed no production at our plants in Bidadi as well as minimal sales owing to the much needed restrictions & sporadic lockdowns in different parts of the country. Hence comparing last month’s performance to that of May 2020 would be highly skewed, as May 2020 had witnessed a gradual restart of both operations and sales. More so for TKM, as even before the restrictions were announced in Karnataka, we were well within our planned annual maintenance shutdown, thereby adding onto the number of non-production days.

Having said that, the overall market situation as well as consumer sentiments are better than May 2020. In fact, we have even registered a 104% growth in cumulative wholesales clocked from January to May in 2021, when compared to the same period last year. We also anticipate that factors like ‘pent up demand’ and the demand for personal mobility will continue to be quite significant once the markets open as consumers will want to own their vehicles instead of using shared or public mobility options. A testimony to this is the fact that we have a very healthy number of pending orders and there has been no significant order cancellation against the orders. However, we will be able to take a better stock of the situation once the restrictions are relaxed.

On the manufacturing side, we are trying to ensure that all possible measures & preparations are made to resume production as soon as the lockdown is withdrawn, so as to be able to cater to the immediate mobility needs of our customers at the earliest. Moreover, we are also focusing on vaccinating our employees as well as our dealer staff so as to ensure lower risk & severity of infections, once the markets open. More than anything else, we want our workforces to be safe and hence we are channelizing our synergies to drive vaccination camps for our employees at the plant as well as for our dealer staff at various dealership locations across the country”, he concluded.
