Edelweiss Asset Management Company Limited, one of India’s fastest growing AMCs, announced the launch of Edelweiss NIFTY PSU Bond Plus SDL Index Fund - 2026. Passively managed, this first of its kind index fund will invest in AAA rated PSU Bonds as well as State Development Loans (SDL).

With an investment amount that is as low as INR 5,000/-, the fund will have a defined maturity date of April 30, 2026. At maturity, investors will get back their investment proceeds. The fund will aim to hold the bonds till maturity in order to provide stability and visibility of returns to investors. Taxed at 20% post indexation, this fund will be more tax efficient as compared to traditional avenues.

“Post the success we’ve seen with corporate bond ETFs with the launch of Bharat Bond last year, it is heartening to now see a significant rise in popularity of target maturity debt funds among investors. This index fund can give a fair amount of visible and tax efficient returns, along with higher safety and transparency at a low cost. With the financialization of savings taking centre stage, such solutions will build more investor confidence in debt mutual funds. We are committed to launch more such innovative yet simple solutions for our investors,” commented Radhika Gupta, CEO, Edelweiss Mutual Fund.

This is a first ever, open-ended, Target Maturity Index Fund that will predominantly invest in the constituents of NIFTY PSU Bond Plus SDL 50:50 Index. Proportion of investments of AAA PSU Bonds and SDLs will be equally divided with a weightage of 50% each. Exposure to any single company’s bonds or loans would be capped at 15% of the corpus. VMSIIHE - First Hospitality Institute In India Awarded By FSSAI With ‘Eat Right Campus’ Certification

One of Goa’s leading private hospitality institute, the V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) located in the pristine village of Manora-Raia recently obtained the coveted government ‘Eat Right Campus’ certification with 5 star rating.

The prestigious certification has been obtained under the central government’s ‘Eat Right Campus’ initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) which aims to promote safe, healthy and sustainable food practices in educational campuses, workplaces, hospitals, tea estates, etc. across the country.

VMSIIHE is the first hospitality institute in India and also in the state of Goa to obtain the certification, which requires passing a thorough audit of institutional practices.

The overall objective of the certification is to improve the health of people and the planet and at the same time promote social and economic development of the nation.

“The certification is a formal endorsement of the cutting edge institutional systems and practices already in place at the VMSIIHE. The extensive certification process was carried out by the Institute in assistance with Indianeers Food Safety Management, an empanelled agency and training programme partner of Food Safety Training and Certification (FOSTAC) authorised by the FSSAI,” said Chef Sebastian Breitinger, Professor of Culinary Arts at the institute.

A team of 21 food handlers from the Institute’s various departments were trained as part of the certification programme, to improve processes related to documentation of foods, as well as to set up collaboration with food suppliers in order to ensure efficient traceability of sourced goods.

VMSIIHE had already put in place safety precautions against Covid-19 to safeguard its campus. The institute had also started a dynamic poster campaign to highlight the perils of food wastage and how to control the phenomenon. To further create awareness about food wastage, VMSIIHE has initiated the practice of weighing leftovers and putting the statistics on display on the institute’s notice boards, to make students and faculty conscious of food wastage and take steps to eliminate wasteful trends.

The evaluation by the team of auditors was a thorough, elaborate procedure with the team minutely assessing staff members of the Institute, as well as examining all documentation processes.

“VMSIIHE takes pride in having gone through a strict appraisal and meeting the standards held by the auditor that visited the institute on the day of the evaluation,” says Prof. Irfan Mirza, Director/Principal at VMSIIHE.

Two Of Capital India Finance Arms - RapiPay And RemitX - Partner For International Outward Remittance Services

* RapiPay is the first Indian company in assisted payment category to facilitate international Outward Remittance

S.K Narvar promoted Capital India Finance Limited (CIFL), a tech enabled SME Finance player, has announced the partnership of its fintech subsidiary RapiPay and its cross-border remittances business vertical ‘RemitX’ to provide international outward remittance services to a varied set of customers. With this development, CIFL has forged an alliance within the group to explore joint synergies by enabling financial technologies taking outward remittances services to India’s vast micro-markets and thereby, consolidate its position. CIFL aims to create a digital ecosystem in financial, payments and banking space to offer its services to customers both in Urban and rural India.

Under the partnership, RapiPay will penetrate the outward remittances services offered by RemitX into the deeper markets of the country by leveraging its vast network of over two lakh agents called ‘RapiPay Sathis’. On the other hand, RemitX will make available its tech-driven, integrated Foreign Exchange services such as outward remittances, buying and selling foreign currency bank notes, foreign currency demand drafts, foreign currency prepaid cards, travel insurance to RapiPay’s business network.  With these services at core, RapiPay will be able to offer foreign exchange services to a varied class of customers including the students, travellers going on leisure trips, Overseas Education Consultants, Corporates Houses, Travel Agents and Financial Institutions

Currently through RapiPay, RemitX is offering the two highly in demand services in the international remittance space - outward remittances for Students and outward remittances for overseas Medical Treatment. Post COVID, as the students plan their higher studies abroad this segment is poised to offer vast opportunity in servicing their payments for university fees and personal expenses.

Dr Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Executive Chairman, CIFL said, “We are geared up to offer seamless and real time technology – led foreign exchange remittance services to under-penetrated markets of India. RapiPay and RemitX, with distinct peculiarities, will create a new-model of last mile-connectivity in the foreign exchange segment and help a category of beneficiaries; post COVID.”

On the students’ front, around one million Indian students go abroad for studies every year. Their tuition fee is transferred by their families in foreign currency through banks and the local money changers. In most cases, the conversion rates charged to consumers are either extremely high or have additional bank charges. RemitX will not only offer the best rates but will also ensure a seamless and transparent process.  Alternatively, with RapiPay’s pan India presence across Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cities, the consumers would be able to remit foreign exchange with a greater convenience.

Similarly, outward remittances for medical requirements is another highly in demand service provided by RemitX. The customers would need to contact their nearest RapiPay agents to meet their remittance requirements. Of late, there has been a strong demand for international outward remittances to the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and Germany. “We are expecting a good traction from the Tier II and Tier III cities of Punjab, Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, which are emerging as a strong economic hotspot in India.”, added Dr Bhanwala.

Yoga Is Also A Path To Spiritual Calmness And Is Not Associated With Any Religion: Mr. Ram Nath Kovind

The honorable President of India, Shri. Ram Nath Kovind and Shri. Kamlesh Patel (Daaji) Guide of Heartfulness and President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission unveiled ‘Yoga for Unity and Well-being’ initiative, with an aim to unite people across the world by practicing yoga & meditation for 100 days for a healthier and happier life.  Yoga rishi Baba Ramdev of Patanjali Yogpeeth, Shri Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary Ministry of Ayush, Dr. H. R. Nagendra, Founder Chancellor and Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (SVYASA) were present to show their commitment to this initiative.

People around the world can tune in every morning into a virtual session to learn asanas by instructors of leading Yoga institutes possessing a legacy of hundreds of years, all under the unifying banner of the ‘Yoga for Unity and Well-being’. Additionally, attendees can listen in to the lecture series on every Wednesdays and Saturday evenings. Daaji will conduct special meditation sessions for seekers to experience transformation through Transmission (life energy). The series will come to an end on the much-celebrated International Yoga day.

In his message the President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind said, “I want to convey my deep appreciation to Swami Ramdev Ji, Dr. H R Nagendra, Shri Kamlesh Patel (Daaji) and other yoga gurus who will be helping the participants with their exceptional effectiveness." He further added, "The world moves to attain progress through science and technology, there is a need to restore the balance between human beings and nature through sustainable methods. The concept of health according to yoga goes beyond physical wellbeing. Yoga is an approach to holistic wellbeing which includes physical and mental fitness. Its benefits lead to freedom from psychological stress and bodily ailments. It results in a high level of positive energy. It is also a path to spiritual calmness. It is not associated with any religion, region, or people but belongs to the entire world and all of humanity."

Daaji, the Guide of Heartfulness said, “India is home to a multitude of practices to explore one's purpose in life. I am proud that the Heartfulness Institute has facilitated the united effort of organisations from across the Globe for people to easily learn yoga & meditation. I urge everyone to take the time to attend these sessions, which are free of charge, from the comfort of their homes to metamorphose their lives."

Earlier, during the International Yoga Conference at Mysore in November 2019, Daaji had given a clarion call for all spiritual organisations to work together for the upliftment of humanity. Since then, Heartfulness Institute has been playing a unifying role in bringing together various spiritual, yoga & meditation organizations along with key government bodies towards the cause of spreading yoga to many more. The message from Daaji was simple - every yoga or spiritual institute individually has tremendous influence and is making a difference in the lives of people, collectively the impact of working together can transform humanity at an accelerated pace.

Yogrishi Swami Ramdev, President, Patanjali Yogpeeth, spoke on the transformative initiative and said, “It is the beginning of a new-era for yoga and meditation in a post-pandemic world. This series will not only unify practitioners for the goal of collective well-being but also enable them to explore the full potential of a yogic lifestyle and access to wider base of yoga institutes that have perfected and continue the traditional and authentic methodologies.”

Vaidhya Shri Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, India said, “Ministry of Ayush is also working in close collaboration with various reputed leading Yoga Institutions for making IDY a true mass movement. These 100 days of practice will create an immersive experience for participants to make yoga and meditation an integral part of their daily lives.”

In such situation, Sahaj Marg and Heartfulness program along with Yoga are like the beacon of hope for the world.” The “Yoga for Unity and Well-being” program is another step by Heartfulness Institute to unify everyone for achieving the highest goal through interconnectedness amongst ourselves without any barriers.

Garnier Launches Transformative Green Beauty Initiative Set To Radically Reduce The Brand’s Global Environmental Impact

* All Garnier products, are now officially cruelty free – certified by Cruelty Free International

By 2025:

* All products of Garnier to be made with Zero Virgin Plastic

* All packaging to be reusable, recyclable or compostable

* First brand to implement Product Environmental & Social Impact Labelling, empowering consumers to make more sustainable choices

Today, more than ever, environmental, health and social concerns are of the upmost importance. The events of the last year have been unprecedented, shifting consumer expectation and calling into focus the role of brands in society. Above anything else, people want brands that they can trust, that are transparent and which are genuinely committed to being better.

When it comes to sustainability, Garnier has been committed for years; producing more natural formulas, using sustainable and fair-trade ingredients, even being the first to bring certified organic products to the mass skincare market. With the launch of its sustainability program Garnier Green Beauty, Garnier wants to go further, to shift the way the beauty industry operates and lead the change for all of us.

Garnier has also been committed to a world against animal testing since 1989, and is now Cruelty Free International has given the brand their stamp of approval under their Leaping Bunny programme. Garnier is one of the largest, most global brands Cruelty Free International has ever approved under the Leaping Bunny programme. This is a giant leap, not only for Garnier, but for the beauty industry as a whole. Leaping Bunny requires brands to forensically investigate their entire supply chain, including all raw material and individual ingredients, for any cases of animal testing. Approval must be given to all of a brand’s finished products - individual products or items cannot be approved in isolation.

For Garnier this was a case of securing a declaration from more than 500 suppliers, who source more than 3,000 different ingredients, from across the world. This stringent process ensures that consumers can buy Garnier products with complete confidence, knowing that they meet Leaping Bunny’s strict criteria.

Garnier’s initiative Green Beauty is a complete end-to-end approach to sustainability. The aim is to transform every stage of Garnier’s value chain, reducing or eradicating environmental impact in the following areas:

Plastic & Packaging:

* By 2025, Garnier will aim to use Zero Virgin Plastic in all packaging, saving 37,000 tonnes of plastic every year*

* By 2025, all packaging will also be either reusable, recyclable or compostable

Product & Formula:

* By 2022, all plant-based and renewable ingredients will be sustainably sourced

* By 2025, 100% of Garnier’s new products will have an improved environmental profile

Factories & Manufacturing:

* 100% Carbon Neutral industrial sites by 2025, using renewable energy

* CO2 emissions of industrial sites already reduced by 72%**

Solidarity Sourcing:

* By 2025, Garnier will have empowered 800 communities worldwide as part of our Solidarity sourcing programme

Further, as part of L’Oréal for the Future, Garnier will be the first brand to implement

Product Environmental & Social Impact Labelling. This aims to inform consumers on the environmental and social impact of their products, empowering them to make more sustainable choices. Being trialed in France and on haircare products, this labelling gives each product a sustainability score, from A to E, with products labelled ‘A’ considered best in class. The score takes into account 14 environmental factors from sourcing, manufacture, transportation, usage and recyclability. Data is verified by Bureau Veritas Certification, an independent auditor. The Environmental & Social Impact Labelling of Garnier Haircare products will be accessible to consumers on the French brand’s haircare webpage before rolling out internationally.

In addition, Garnier has partnered with Plastics For Change to help with the social impact of plastic pollution. Over 3 billion people around the world live without access to organised waste collection. That’s almost half the planet’s population. Some of the world’s poorest people collect this waste to make a living. The waste pickers, many of them women, often live below the poverty line and work in appalling conditions. Through this association, Garnier will support the holistic development of waste picker communities in India. Plastics for Change support education for children, healthcare, nutrition, financial literacy and empowerment for girls & women - the basic foundations of a healthy and happy community.

As part of the global initiative Garnier has also partnered with Ocean Conservancy, an NGO working against ocean plastic for more than 30 years. Garnier has joined Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Alliance. The Alliance was created in 2012 and unites scientists, conservationists and the private sector to find real-life, impactful solutions to the ocean plastic crisis. Garnier will team up with current Alliance members to identify innovative ways to reduce/redesign plastic packaging and stop the flow of plastic pollution into our oceans.

Adrien Koskas, Garnier Global Brand President, says “Green Beauty will transform the way we do business. Developed with the help of our partners, researchers and customers, this initiative highlights a range of ambitious goals, underpinned by tangible targets. We pledge to lessen our impact on the planet and innovate for a sustainable future. It will take time, but Green Beauty will transform Garnier, and we hope the beauty industry as a whole. To be officially approved by Cruelty Free International under the Leaping Bunny programme is a real milestone and was always an important part of our Green Beauty mission. Today Garnier, takes another Green step towards becoming a fully committed, truly sustainable, transparent brand that delivers Green Beauty for all of us.”

Pankaj Sharma, Director, Consumer Products Division, L’Oréal India, shared “With the awareness and strong equity that Garnier enjoys, it becomes important for the brand to build its purpose and social commitment. The Garnier Green Beauty initiative is our journey towards contributing to a better and more sustainable planet, while also creating a community of our consumers and supporters who can take this journey with us.”

John Abraham, Garnier India Brand Ambassador, “I have been associated with Garnier India for a very long time and am especially proud to represent this initiative. With the continuous depletion of our environmental resources over the years, we firmly believe that individual contributions leading to a larger united front will help achieve the set goals. Through the Garnier Green Beauty initiative, we are offering an opportunity to all young ambitious Indians to come forward and join us in making small changes in your life today, contributing to a sustainable tomorrow and a greener future.”

The Green Beauty initiative also presents an annual global Sustainability Progress Report, offering complete transparency on Garnier’s commitments. The report can be tracked publicly via the Garnier website and states where Garnier stands today, mapping out the process of how the brand will reach its ambitious 2025 targets. This progress report provides a clear and trackable summary of Garnier’s commitments, enlisting work which has been completed with the help of experts and scientists..
