MyHealthcare And AliveCor Bring Heart Health In The Hands Of Indians

MyHealthcare and AliveCor have teamed up to allow patients to be able to read their ECG data directly from their KardiaMobile 6L device into the MyHealthcare platform. The FDA-cleared KardiaMobile device is the most clinically validated personal ECG solution in the world and the partnership will aim to help patients monitor their heart health at the comfort of their home. The association is a steppingstone in bringing to the market an integrated cardiac care programme.

Owing to the accessibility challenges to quality healthcare in the country and COVID related infection fears, the portable and technology-enabled ECG device will help deliver affordable and convenient heart care to over 250 million people at risk of heart disease, without visiting a hospital.  Technology like this gives patients the ability to take control of their own heart health and play a more active role in their care management.

The data generated through the ECG device can be seen on the MyHealthcare app and seamlessly flows into the MyHealthcare EMR for doctors and caregivers, monitoring their patient’s health records. The partnership will also bring to MyHealthcare patients integrated cardiac care programmes, which will allow patients to sign up through the MyHealthcare partner hospitals onto a care plan, which monitors their cardiac function, any outlier data and deliver alerts to the care team when needed and seek consult with cardiologists from MyHealthcare partner hospitals. The MyHealthcare care programmes aim to work with remote monitoring device companies such as AliveCor to build long term care monitoring and helps build a longitudinal patient history.

Lokesh Prasad, Managing Director, AliveCor India commented, “Our commitment to India is further reinforced by the partnership with MyHealthcare in bringing an integrated platform, where patients can use the MyHealthcare platform to monitor their ECG. KardiaMobile serves a critical function in the need for remote patient management in India. Our devices use machine learning to detect arrhythmias quickly and efficiently with 98% sensitivity and 97% specificity. This gives patients and physicians fast and highly reliable data that can be easily used to influence a care plan.  Through our association with MyHealthcare and its partner hospitals, we hope to analyse critical heart data and build a preventive integrated care programme, which will be a first step in remote cardiac monitoring.”

Commenting on the association, Shyatto Raha, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at MyHealthcare said, “In the wake of the recent pandemic, the telemedicine industry has grown in leaps and bounds. However, the core focus currently of most platforms is to deliver a virtual consult between a patient and doctor, addressing just one part of the care needs of a patient. The true value lies in the complete care management of a patient, including health monitoring and delivering care at home, which would be as close to the care delivered in a hospital. One of the key challenges facing telemedicine today is that doctors are unable to physically assess the patient or look at their vitals. The partnership with AliveCor and the integrated clinical data delivery to the doctors via the MyHealthcare EMR will help bring the platform a step closer to the in-OPD experience.”

The association is slated to be an industry-first and would essentially mean a giant leap for the telemedicine industry in India.

VMware Tanzu Labs: New Name, Even More Transformative Expertise

As we celebrate the one-year anniversary of VMware Tanzu, we are thrilled to announce that VMware Pivotal Labs, the software consulting branch of VMware Tanzu, will now be called VMware Tanzu Labs.

Our consulting services have always been a foundational piece of the VMware Tanzu portfolio. With over 30 years of modern software development experience as Pivotal Labs, combined with a team of leading Kubernetes architects, many formerly of Heptio and Red Hat, Tanzu Labs offers an unmatched level of consulting expertise in both applications and next-generation infrastructure. The name Tanzu Labs better reflects the full scope of how we partner with leading organizations around the world: to build and modernize apps, develop Kubernetes-based app platforms, and enable the adoption of modern practices and culture changes that are necessary for meaningful transformation and sustained success.

During the past 12 months, Tanzu Labs’ team of 800 practitioners across 10 countries delivered 892 projects for clients such as BT, Duke Energy, Tesco Bank, Dish, Fiserv, Carina, and USMEDIC. Of these projects, 84,457 hours were dedicated to software development related to COVID-19.

Here are some highlights from the past year.

Stories of agility, resilience, and transformation at SpringOne

At our annual SpringOne user conference, many Tanzu Labs customers shared how they are tackling tough modernization initiatives, adopting modern practices such as DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering, and taking on large-scale agile transformations. Organizations that had invested in app modernization and in- house software development capabilities were better prepared to respond quickly to unprecedented challenges.

Nonprofit Carina’s founding executive director, Nidhi Mirani, shared how the COVID pandemic spurred the need for a new app connecting essential workers with licensed childcare providers. Mirani said that working alongside our team was “transformative” and highlighted the rapid delivery of usable releases, agile methods, and user-centered design that enabled her organization to release a fully functional app in just four weeks.

We heard from Albertsons Senior DevOps Manager Bhuvan Padakanti about Albertsons’ rapid shift from in-store purchasing to record-breaking online ordering and 10 times normal e-commerce traffic in the early months of the pandemic.

Padakanti recounted how Albertsons was prepared in part for this rapid shift to digital having previously partnered with Tanzu Labs to learn how to build cloud native apps, which enabled Albertsons to move from a legacy on-premise system to an entirely microservices-based e-commerce platform.

Customers including AirFrance KLM, State Farm, and BT shared impressive stories related to app modernization. And a panel of agile leaders from Comcast, Tesco Bank, and Bell Tracy discussed the critical role of management in successful transformation at scale.

These are just some of the many inspiring customer stories shared during SpringOne 2020!

Impactful solutions for the nonprofit sector

We’ve had the honor of continuing to work with nonprofit customers such as A21 and Carina through VMware Tanzu Act (formerly called Pivotal Act).

Tanzu Act is a program that partners with nonprofit organizations at a discounted rate to drive social impact through designing and building technology. Tanzu Act contributes to VMware’s 2030 Agenda, a 10year commitment to address critical challenges facing our global community with a focus on creating Trust, Equity, and Sustainability through 30 measurable goals to be achieved by 2030. The 2030 Agenda builds on VMware’s long-standing commitment to innovate for a better future, and we are proud to play an active role through Tanzu Act’s hands- on work partnering with the humanitarian sector to solve complex problems.

Building awesome software while working remotely

As the world went into lockdown due to the global pandemic, enterprises had to rapidly respond to dramatic changes impacting customer needs, employee experience, and available budget. While Tanzu Labs has many years of working with remote and distributed teams, the sudden move to “all remote” was a monumental shift for most of our customers and many of our own practitioners who were accustomed to co-located teams. Many practices, in fact, relied on the advantages of in-person communication and co-located teams. However, Tanzu Labs has a pedigree of thought leadership in software methodology going back several decades. Its practices are derived from certain core principles that form the basis of how to serve a fast-paced, software-centric business. So in response to the move to all-remote work, the team revisited those principles and reimagined practices that are sustainable when the team is remote but stay true to the underlying insights that have made Tanzu Labs so effective. It was by drawing on its depth of understanding on software that Tanzu Labs continued to serve customers successfully despite the challenging conditions. These are the core principles that form the foundation of Tanzu Labs and our practices:

Additionally, we published dozens of resources for remote software development teams, including remote work guides, a collection of Miro templates, and tips

on remote pair programming. Explore all of our resources for remote teams here.

Now part of the AWS Partner Network for Consulting Partners

In December, we announced that Tanzu Labs is now an AWS Partner Network Consulting Partner for app modernization and software development. Through this expansion of VMware Tanzu’s existing partnership, any AWS customer (including VMware Cloud on AWS customers) can engage seasoned Tanzu Labs experts in cloud native software development to assist with the analysis, disposition, migration, and modernization of their entire application portfolio.

Learn more about the partnership here.

Looking ahead

During the next year, we will continue to scale to meet the ever-growing demand for application modernization and Kubernetes expertise across industries. Tanzu Labs remains dedicated to our relentless pursuit of helping organizations deliver outcomes, working collaboratively with our clients in order to impart the practices and skills that enable long-term transformation. We will extend our community of partners who learn and adopt our methods, in order to work side-by-side with us and provide greater scale for large projects, which will allow us to work with even more customers. In addition to direct service engagements and extended partnerships, Tanzu Labs plans to publish our vast collection of best practices, proven patterns, app modernization recipes, and playbooks. This treasure trove of resources is based on decades of hands-on experience working with organizations of every size, across every industry to solve difficult, high-stakes problems. So whether you're ready to build a developer-centric platform with Kubernetes, accelerate your move to cloud, tackle a gnarly back-end system, or reimagine a digital customer experience, Tanzu Labs has what it takes to help your teams deliver better software to production, faster.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Signs MoU With Government Of India For Skilling Of Youth

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to develop skills among youth under the Flexi-MoU Scheme of the Government of India.

Toyota Koushalya

The program titled Toyota Koushalya will take forward the MoU by focusing on developing students at the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI). The institute imparts world-class skills training to youth from economically weaker sections of the society from rural areas of Karnataka. Under the Flexi-MoU scheme, TKM is identified as Industrial Training Provider (ITP) to develop skilled human resources for manufacturing companies and first-time entrepreneurs.

Ms. Neelam Shami Rao, Director, Directorate General of Training, Government of India, says, “The Flexi-MoU scheme is designed to cater to the needs of both the industry and the trainees. The scheme allows industries to train candidates as per their skill set requirements and provides trainees with an industry environment aligned with the market demand and latest technology. We are glad to partner with Toyota to develop youth as skilled and industry-ready employable technicians.”

Learn and Earn

Toyota Koushalya provides an opportunity for the youth to acquire skills relevant to the manufacturing industry and improve their employment potential through a ‘Learn and Earn’ approach consisting a mix of theoretical and On-the-Job Training (OJT). These youth will be trained by supervisors who are Master Trainers in the world-renowned Toyota Production System (TPS). Upon completion of the training, trainees need to take up an exam jointly conducted by DGT and TKM as per DGT guidelines and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) to get certified.  The program aims at skilling youth who have passed their 10th standard and facing difficulty in affording higher education. Admissions to the program have already commenced. The two-year training program will be imparted in four trades - automobile welding, automobile assembly, automobile painting and mechatronics.

‘Toyota Way’ Philosophy: Beacon for People Development

Apart from the Toyota Koushalya program, Toyota has been imparting ‘Lifelong Learning’ to its employees to help them achieve their fullest potential. People are the most important asset of Toyota. Hence, developing people forms the fulcrum of the company’s philosophy.  ‘Toyota Way’ focuses on becoming better by sharpening the skills of every person and continue the quest for improvement by encouraging both incremental and breakthrough innovative thinking.

“To manufacture quality products, any company can establish good processes, best-in-class equipment and infrastructure. But what makes Toyota unique is its philosophy of developing quality people. Toyota focuses on developing its people, who in turn establish good processes, offer ever-better products and services, thereby achieving customer delight,” says G Shankara , Vice President, HR and Services, TKM.

How TKM Develops People?

TKM has invested heavily in TTTI and Gurukul skill development centre. Training centres at Toyota have developed globally certified master trainers who hone the skills of employees as they move up their career ladder.

"We believe that the success of Toyota comes from our people. We are a people-oriented company. In this perspective, we take care of the holistic well-being of every member by developing their skill, knowledge and attitude from a mid-to-long-term perspective," says Shankara.

He adds, “We impart experiential learning workshops wherein all employees can set their career and life goals even beyond their retirement. We take the ambition of every employee seriously. We develop the employees in such a way that they can achieve their career aspiration and achieve self-realization. For example, we also send them to overseas training in Japan or Thailand if they aspire to become world-class technicians. We develop them in a way that they add value to their peers, family, company and society. It is this people-centric approach that has helped us build quality cars.”
