Between Myth & Matter features works by artists Seema Kohli, Kanika Gupta, She Kantha, Anirban Das, Samik De and Manmita Ray. The exhibition explores the shifting relationship between the sacred and the material, bringing sculpture and contemporary image-making into conversation with objects and practices rooted in ritual, devotion and inherited traditions.

Trace Gallery was conceptualized by Anissa Sonthalia as a space for visual art, design and music. The name ‘trace’ comes from the idea of leaving one’s mark or trace behind, and this multi-purpose space was created keeping this in mind. Anissa Sonthalia says, "Growing up in Kolkata, Durga Puja has always been intrinsic to how I understand the city and its cultural identity. As one of the world’s great public art festivals, it brings together extraordinary artisans who transform the city through art, architecture and storytelling each year. With Trace, I wanted to bring this ecosystem into closer dialogue with contemporary artists and institutions. Between Myth and Matter brings together three spaces often seen separately: the museum, the pandal and the commercial gallery. It feels especially meaningful to present the show with the arrival of Durga Ma, when the atmosphere of Kolkata shifts and the sacred enters our everyday spaces."
