How To Protect Your Health This Summer Months Across India

By Ms. Kanchan Naikawadi, Preventive Healthcare Specialist, Indus Health Plus

The summer season has set in and is expected to be warmer than usual over most regions of India this year. Besides the scorching heat and feeling of restlessness, this season brings in a host of diseases. Some bacteria and viruses seem to spread more rapidly in the heat thereby causing diseases like chicken pox, measles, typhoid, jaundice, infective hepatitis and gastroenteritis. During the summer months, we tend to lose a lot of water through perspiration which often results in dehydration. Burning of skin, dermatitis and heat strokes are some of the other common summer ailments. Moreover, with the rising cases of COVID-19 in the month of March, it is important that we take extra care of ourselves and our families during these months to avoid falling sick.

Mentioned below are few tips that will help you stay healthy this summer

·         Sleep: Not getting enough sleep is associated with increased hunger, higher blood sugars, poor concentration, frequent illness and impaired problem-solving. Make sure to give yourself at least 7 hours of sleep a night.

·         Stay hydrated: Water is the perfect way to keep hydrated and keeps appetite in check. Add a splash of flavor with fruit juice or fresh cucumbers, lime slices or fruit. Be creative.

·         Add Fiber: Vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains are rich in fiber. Fiber helps you stay full, so you are less likely to eat mindlessly. Strive to eat at least 25 g of fiber a day.

·         Limit added sugars: Try and eat less than six teaspoons of added sugar (this does not include natural sugars found in fruit and milk). This goal may not be realistic every day but aim for success 80% of the time. Save your six teaspoons for a special dessert. When looking at labels, it is helpful to know that one teaspoon equals four grams of added sugar.

·         Keep an eye on alcohol: Drinking too much alcohol can lead to unintended outcomes. Studies show that we make poorer food choices if we have alcohol in our system. A serving of alcohol contains about 100 calories and mixed drinks have even more. The goal is to limit alcohol to one drink a day for women, two drinks a day for men.

·         Stay active: The stay-at-home orders might have put your exercise plans to the test. Make an exercise goal and stick to it.

·         Enjoy the weather: Studies show that when people venture into outdoor settings, heart rate and blood pressure improve. Take a moment to appreciate being outdoors.

·         Gratitude: Find a moment each day to reflect on a few things that brought you joy or good feelings. Being grateful and positive can help you thrive in a healthy life.

Creating a healthy environment around food, exercise and rest will ensure success with overall health. One of the most important things to remember: only you are in charge of respecting your body and providing you with what you need.

Tesla, Nio And Riot Blockchain Are The Top Three Most-Bought US Stocks By Indian Investors: Winvesta Investor Pulse Report

* Technology, electric vehicles, and blockchain have been the most preferred sectors for Indian investors

Passive investment is gaining traction; QQQ, VTI, and ARKG are the top three favourite ETFs listed on US markets

UK headquartered leading Fintech platform, Winvesta, which enables investments in over 3500 US Stocks and ETFs, today launched its 'Winvesta Investor Pulse Report.' The report finds that Tesla, Nio, and Riot Blockchain are the top three most-bought US stocks by Indians.

'Winvesta Investor Pulse Report' is a nationwide study that encapsulates the investment behavior among Indians collected from investors on the Winvesta platform between the period 27th March 2020 and 20th March 2021. The investors are 18-70 years old, living in Tier 1 and 2 cities.

According to the study, 'Technology' stocks continue to be preferred by most Indians, followed by 'Electric Vehicles' and 'Blockchain' sectors. This clearly indicates how the latter two sectors have gained popularity among Indians in the last year.

Interestingly, passive investments are gaining interest among Indian investors, with about 25% investing in ETFs on the Winvesta platform. The majority of investors have invested in QQQ (Nasdaq 100) ETF, followed by VTI (Vanguard Total Stock Market Index), ARKG (ARK Genomic Revolution), SPY (S&P500), and ARKK (ARK Innovation). Geographical ETFs and ADRs make about 10% of the investments on Winvesta's platform.

Swastik Nigam, Founder & CEO, Winvesta, said, "While launching Winvesta, we observed a strong home bias among Indian investors, which disallows participation in global growth stories. Our objective behind starting Winvesta was to make Indian investors realize the importance of geographical diversification and facilitate seamless overseas investments. In a way, the pandemic was an eye-opener for many because when Indian markets were not performing well, investors realized the value of investing in overseas markets. We have received tremendous interest from Indian investors to invest in US stocks and ETFs. Today, an average account size of an investor on Winvesta's platform is about $5000, with an average transaction of about $800. Investors are aware of the benefits of a well-diversified portfolio, and going ahead, we are confident of gaining more traction from Indian investors."

Although for many Indian investors, US investing is synonymous with the popular FAANG stocks, today FAANGs make up only 17% of the total stock investments on Winvesta's platform. This ratio has been trending downwards since the beginning of last year as other high growth stocks like TSLA, NIO, and RIOT took the lead from the tech giants. Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft continue to be among the top 10 popular stocks on the platform.

"We have also seen a growing interest from the younger investors who are prolific consumers of many overseas brands and are beginning their investment journey with modest investment sizes. A large proportion of our clients are repeatedly remitting as well for systematic and opportunistic investments. With the recent strength in INR and also the financial year ending, we have also noticed increased remittance sizes as investors make use of this financial year's Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) quota", said Prateek Jain, Co-founder Winvesta and further added, "Lately, we are seeing Indian investors getting bullish with passive investing and looking at investing in US ETFs which could give them exposure to innovative themes and markets beyond the USA."

Winvesta, which started its operations just two days after the national lockdown, currently has an investor base across India, with more than 60% of them being millennial (25-40years). The majority of the investors are male (94%). Delhi (NCR), Bengaluru, and Mumbai make up almost 25% of its client base, followed by Pune, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Nearly 45% of Winvesta's client base is from metropolitan cities.

About Winvesta

Winvesta is a new-age fintech start-up offering Indians a platform to invest overseas. It is built by a team of finance professionals, each with over a decade of experience in global financial services. Their core belief is that diversification, consistency, and low transaction costs are the keys to build an efficient portfolio. Diversification for Indian investors has long been limited to domestic instruments. Investing overseas has been difficult and expensive. Winvesta is changing that by bringing global investing to the finger-tips of every Indian investor.

82% Of Laptop Problems Are Hardware-Related, Only 18% Are Software-Related: Onsitego’s White Paper

* Wi-Fi, Keyboard, trackpad and display are some of the topmost laptop hardware problems

The forced work-from-home, and e-learning phenomena induced by the pandemic has led to an uptake in the use of laptops and also the troubles related to it. The top laptop problems that engulfed India were revealed in a new white paper released by Onsitego, a leading brand in after-sales services of devices and appliances. The white paper was prepared after studying over 8,000 laptop cases nationally. According to the white paper, more than 82% of laptop distresses are hardware-related compared to just 18% of software related.

Within hardware, while display and keyboard related problems were expected to be the topmost, surprisingly Wi-Fi connectivity emerged as the highest that stood at 27% of all laptop service requests. 18% accounted for keyboard and the trackpad related issues followed by display at 15% and battery and charging related glitches at 8%. All other hindrances, such as audio, Bluetooth, exhaust fans, hard disk, overheating, physical damage, power button, and webcam, accounted for around just 2% of laptops serviced. In a few cases, where the root cause of the issue can’t be identified, those are mostly related to a faulty motherboard.

In the software category, the primary concerns are around resource-hungry applications that accounted almost half (50%) of all laptop service requests. This is followed by whopping 41% reporting their laptop getting hung in the middle of their usage due to inefficient background apps, malware or viruses and lastly the issues faced due to windows updates stood at a minimal 4%.

Kunal Mahipal, CEO, Onsitego, explained, “The demand for laptops have gone up exponentially with the pandemic. Now in addition to smart phones, laptops too have penetrated deep into Indian households. The over usage of laptops and not being aware of how to correctly maintain them has led to a spike in the number of laptop problems reported by consumers. This white paper gives us interesting insights into some of the most common laptop problems that consumers face today.”

The white paper further reveals another interesting insight that the more expensive the laptop, the higher its repair costs. For example, getting a ₹40,000 laptop repaired or serviced can cost anywhere between 15% to 45% of the laptop’s price, depending on the issue. But getting a laptop priced above ₹50,000 can cost anywhere between 40% and 90% of the laptop’s price. For another example, getting an Apple’s MacBook and Microsoft’s Surface laptops repaired cost an average of ₹20,000 or higher. On the other hand, laptops from brands like ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo cost an average of less than ₹10,000 for repairs.

The report also finds that typically, customers spending more than ₹50,000 tend to opt for laptops from Apple, and if opting for laptops below ₹50,000, they prefer laptops sold by Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.
