RRoshani – A CSR Initiative By The RR Kabel Foundation Announces Successful Completion Of Road Safety Campaign In Maharashtra

RRoshani – a CSR initiative by the RR Kabel Foundation, in partnership with the Elixir Foundation, is proud to announce the successful completion of the "Traffic Awareness, Management & Road Safety Campaign". The initiative, which ran from January to September, 2025, aimed to enhance road safety awareness and improve the working conditions of traffic police across the Pune and Nashik districts of Maharashtra.

Setting up police booths can make a significant difference in improving road safety and protecting lives. When placed at critical locations such as busy junctions, accident-prone areas, schools, and hospitals, these booths serve as constant reminders for drivers to follow traffic rules, thereby reducing speeding, drunk driving, and other unsafe practices. They also enable the police to respond quickly in the event of accidents or emergencies, which can help save lives. In addition, police booths provide a point of assistance where people can seek help or guidance while traveling. By enhancing road safety, preventing accidents, and fostering a sense of security, police booths not only strengthen law enforcement but also deliver important benefits to society.

"At RR Kabel, we see road safety not just as a civic duty, but as a shared mission. Through this campaign, in collaboration with the Elixir Foundation, we were able to raise awareness, engage citizens meaningfully, and extend much-needed support to our traffic police who work tirelessly to keep our roads safe. The success of this initiative reflects our commitment to building safer, more responsible cities, and we remain steadfast in our efforts to drive positive change for the community," said Mrs. Kirti Kabra, Director, RR Global.

The campaign focused on a multi-pronged approach to create a safer environment for everyone on the road.

The project was concluded with a formal handover ceremony in Pune.
Key Achievements of the Campaign:

Educating the Community: The awareness campaign reached over 10,000 students and citizens, providing crucial awareness on traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and first aid practices

Wider Reach: Beyond this direct outreach, the campaign’s messaging was amplified through branded police booths, ensuring its impact extended to a much larger audience

Creativity for a Cause: A road safety–themed painting competition witnessed the participation of 1,000 individuals, fostering community-wide awareness through a creative and engaging platform

Enhancing Support for Traffic Police: Demonstrating commitment to road safety, 75 new traffic police booths were installed—55 in Pune and 20 in Nashik—significantly improving visibility, safety, and working conditions for the traffic police force

Together, these initiatives highlight the campaign’s holistic approach to building a culture of road safety and community responsibility. This collaboration between RR Kabel and the Elixir Foundation stands as a strong example of corporate social responsibility in action, reflecting their joint commitment to creating safer roads, supporting traffic authorities, and fostering a culture of responsibility among citizens.

IIHM Celebrates Dr. Suborno Bose's Vision Through Bhartiya Sahas Divas And Nil Waste Kitchen Initiative

* One Man Dared, Thousands Now Dream

On Chairman Dr. Suborno Bose's birthday, IIHM honours courage, entrepreneurship and sustainability with nationwide student-led initiatives

Celebrating the transformative power of courage, vision and innovation, the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) observed Bhartiya Sahas Divas across its campuses, commemorating the birthday of its Founder and Chairman, Dr. Suborno Bose. More than a celebration of an individual, the occasion honoured a philosophy that has inspired thousands of students to dream fearlessly, embrace entrepreneurship and create meaningful impact through hospitality education.

Built around the powerful message ‘One Man Dared. Now Dare with Him,’ this year's Bhartiya Sahas Divas paid tribute to Dr. Bose's remarkable journey in establishing one of the world's leading hospitality education institutions at a time when hotel management was far from being considered a mainstream career choice.

The celebration reflected IIHM's larger philosophy- ‘Sahas Se Srijan. Srijan Se Samriddhi’ From courage comes creation. From creation comes India's future.

A Legacy that Inspires Every Student

As part of the celebrations, IIHM campuses organised activities highlighting innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership, encouraging students to believe that courage is the first step towards creating opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Suborno Bose, Chairman, IIHM, said, "At IIHM, we believe that the greatest qualification is not a degree but the courage to imagine, create and lead. When young minds are empowered to take bold steps with integrity and purpose, they become the architects of tomorrow's India."

Ms. Sanchari Chowdhury, Director - IIHM Bangalore and Head - South Operations, IIHM, said, "Bhartiya Sahas Divas is not merely a celebration of Dr. Suborno Bose's birthday; it is a celebration of a mindset. Dr. Bose demonstrated that one courageous decision can transform an entire industry and create opportunities for generations of young people. Through initiatives such as Bhartiya Sahas, we encourage every student to believe in their own ideas, challenge conventions and become creators of India's future. Hospitality today is no longer just about jobs instead it is about leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation."

Empowering Future Entrepreneurs

One of the key highlights of Bhartiya Sahas Divas was the Bhartiya Sahas initiative, a unique platform that encourages students to transform innovative business ideas into viable entrepreneurial ventures.

Inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, the initiative provides students an opportunity to conceptualise original hospitality businesses from innovative food concepts and sustainable products to food trucks and technology-enabled ventures. Students pitch their ideas before mentors and prospective investors, much like an entrepreneurial showcase, with promising concepts receiving guidance and financial support.

IIHM campuses pan India participated in the initiative, with IIHM Bangalore securing the First Runner-up position, reflecting the institution's growing culture of innovation and enterprise.

Nil Waste Kitchen: Sustainability Begins in the Kitchen

In keeping with Dr. Bose's vision of responsible hospitality, IIHM also organised the ‘Nil Waste Kitchen’ initiative during World Environment Week (June 1-5), promoting sustainable culinary practices and responsible consumption across all its campuses.

The week-long programme included a sustainability exposure visit to an award-winning hotel, a Nil Waste Mocktail Competition, a Best Out of Waste challenge, AI-assisted sustainable menu presentations and culminated in the Nil Waste Kitchen Competition on World Environment Day.

Students demonstrated how commonly discarded food components including potato peels, apple peels, onion skins, papaya seeds, coriander stems and roots, lemon zest and other kitchen by-products can be transformed into nutritious and innovative dishes, significantly reducing food waste while enhancing culinary creativity.

The competition witnessed participation from IIHM campuses across India, while nearly10 international countries joined virtually, making it a global celebration of sustainable gastronomy.

Future Leaders Driving Sustainable Hospitality

The Nil Waste Kitchen initiative was led by IIHM's Future Leader inductees pan India. Explaining the significance of the initiative, Ms. Ayushi Sanyal, Rooms Division Faculty, Future Leader Inductee IIHM Bangalore, said, "Nil Waste Kitchen demonstrates that sustainability begins with everyday choices in our kitchens. Every peel, stem, seed and root have value if we choose to look at it differently. By teaching students to maximise every ingredient, we are nurturing chefs who are not only creative but also environmentally responsible. Our objective is to build a culture where innovation and sustainability go hand in hand."

The initiative also serves as a precursor to the sustainability themes that IIHM plans to further strengthen during future editions of the Young Chef Olympiad (YCO).

Carrying Forward a Vision

Through Bhartiya Sahas Divas and Nil Waste Kitchen, IIHM has reinforced its commitment to nurturing professionals who are courageous enough to innovate, responsible enough to lead sustainably and confident enough to create opportunities for themselves and society.

Tata Motors And Castrol India Collaborate To Advance Used Oil Circularity Across The Lubricant Value Chain

· Collaboration to establish a structured, pilot programme for responsible collection, channelisation and recycling of used engine oil

Tata Motors, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer and Castrol India Limited, a market leader in advanced automotive and industrial lubricant technology, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly launch a pilot programme for used oil circularity ecosystem.

The collaboration aims to establish a structured model for the responsible collection, channelisation and recycling of used engine oil, supporting India's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework and advancing circular economy goals across the automotive lubricant value chain.

Under this MoU, the two companies will build a traceable system for collecting, storing and channelising used engine oil from Tata Motors' authorised service network in Karnataka. The pilot addresses a long-standing gap in the responsible management of used oil, a material classified as hazardous waste.

Speaking on this development, Mr. Vikram Agrawal, Head–Spares and Non-Vehicle Business, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, said, “Responsible used-oil management is central to building a truly circular automotive ecosystem in India. The volume of used engine oil generated across India’s roads each year makes responsible collection and recycling a matter of significant environmental consequence. By partnering with Castrol India, we are creating a credible, scalable model that links responsible collection at our service touchpoints to high-quality re-refined output. This is a meaningful step in Tata Motors’ broader sustainability journey.”

Mr. Anoop Jindal, Vice President–B2B (OEM) Sales, Castrol India Limited, said, “Creating a circular economy for lubricants requires collaboration across the entire value chain. This association with Tata Motors marks our first OEM collaboration focused on building a structured ecosystem for responsible used-oil management in India. We are working to strengthen every link in the circularity chain, from collection and channelisation to recycling and reuse. Insights from our used-oil collection pilots in southern India have deepened our understanding of both the opportunities and challenges involved in scaling circularity. Together with Tata Motors’ extensive service network, this initiative can help create a more organised, traceable and scalable model for used-oil circularity in India.”

For the pilot programme, Tata Motors' authorised sales and service touchpoints in Karnataka will act as structured collection points for used engine oil. Castrol India will anchor the channelisation of collected oil to registered recyclers, drawing on its lubricant expertise and existing pilot learnings to ensure quality and traceability through the recycling process.

The MoU builds on the long-standing relationship between Tata Motors and Castrol India and reflects the shared commitment to advancing sustainability through innovation and collaboration. This initiative complements Tata Motors’ broader sustainability agenda encompassing electric vehicles, CNG platforms and energy-efficient mobility solutions and aligns with Castrol India’s strategy to embed recycled materials in high-performance lubricant products.

Six Micronutrients Your Skin Needs For A Natural Instant Glow

Walk down any beauty aisle, and you are flooded with serums, face masks, and overnight creams promising an instant glow. But any clinical nutritionist will tell you that the skin is simply a mirror of what is happening inside your body. You can't use skincare to balance out a poor diet that does not include healthy food like almonds. When your body is starved of essential micronutrients, it shows up directly on your face as dullness, dryness, or early fine lines.

To help you build a genuine, lasting radiance that doesn't wash off at night, Ritika Samaddar, Regional Head of Dietetics at Max Healthcare, breaks down the six foundational nutrients that feed your skin from the cellular level up:

1. Vitamin E: A fat-soluble antioxidant, Vitamin E protects skin cells from oxidative damage caused by pollution and UV exposure. It works by locking in moisture at the cellular level, keeping skin plump and resilient. California Almonds are among the richest dietary sources, with a few kernels covering a significant portion of the daily requirement in a form the body absorbs well. A simple way to make it a habit is to toss them into your morning smoothie or sprinkle them over your cereal before you head out.

2. Vitamin C: Collagen is what keeps skin firm and elastic, and Vitamin C is what the body needs to produce it. It also helps fade hyperpigmentation over time, gradually brightening a dull complexion. Amla, citrus fruits, and bell peppers are among the most reliable ways to meet this requirement daily.

3. Omega-3 Fatty Acids: These healthy fats form the lipid barrier that holds moisture in and keeps irritants out. A diet low in Omega-3s often shows up as dry, flaky, or inflamed skin. Flaxseeds, almonds, and chia seeds are practical plant-based sources that are easy to work into everyday meals.

4. Zinc: Zinc controls oil production and supports cell repair within the skin's deeper layers, which is why it is frequently associated with clearer skin and reduced breakouts. Chickpeas and whole grains are good everyday sources of this trace mineral.

5. Beta-Carotene: A precursor to Vitamin A, beta-carotene drives skin cell turnover, preventing the dullness that comes from dead cell buildup. It also lends a subtle, healthy warmth to skin tone. Carrots, sweet potatoes, and spinach are among the most accessible and affordable ways to get it consistently.

6. Biotin: Often associated with hair health, biotin's benefits extend well into the skin. It plays a key role in maintaining the skin's fatty acid metabolism, which keeps the surface smooth, hydrated, and less prone to irritation. Eggs, nuts such as California Almonds, and bananas are among the most common and accessible dietary sources of this B-vitamin.

The good news, Ritika Samaddar points out, is that none of this requires an overhaul. These six nutrients are available through a balanced, largely plant-forward diet that most Indian kitchens are already halfway to. The glow that people spend thousands chasing at a counter is, more often than not, already sitting on their plate.
