Ather’s Family Scooter Rizta To Have Biggest Seat In The Segment

~ Rizta to be unveiled on Ather Community Day, to be held in the next few months

Ather Energy, one of India’s leading electric scooter manufacturers, has been teasing about its upcoming family scooter, the Rizta, for the past few weeks. In a recent social media post Tarun Mehta shared two images comparing Rizta’s seat with two leading scooters in the category. The Rizta’s seat was much larger in comparison indicating that Rizta would have the largest seat in the family scooter segment.

In his recent tweets, which gathered a lot of attention on social media, Ather CEO Tarun Mehta shared this interesting comparison of the seat size of Rizta.  Tarun’s tweet read as, “There are a lot of folks who love @atherenergy but wanted a bigger scooter from us. So when we were designing our family scooter, we made sure we tick that box. I wanted to give you all a sneak peek at what we mean by "bigger." This will be the biggest seat in the market! Launching on our Community Day 2024 real soon! “. While Tarun did not mention the competing brands, it was found out that the two seats were of the Ola S1 range and the Honda Activa, which have been dominating their respective segments. The Rizta’s seat was seen to be much larger and more spacious, affirming that Rizta will provide significantly more space and offer a comfortable riding experience for both the rider and the pillion

Although very little is known about the Rizta, from the couple of weeks it has been spotted testing, it is clear that Ather now wants to target an audience looking for a family scooter. Last week, the scooter was spotted testing with two riders and additional load, giving us a closer look at its practicality and overall usability. Being a family electric scooter, it is expected to be ridden with ample weight and a pillion, as we see in the real world. Even the fairly large floorboard area is an indicator of the family-oriented approach.

As the electric scooter industry witnesses a surge in demand, Ather strategically positions itself as a responsive player, catering to a diverse range of consumer needs by venturing into the family-oriented market. With precision engineering and proudly donning the "Made in India" badge, the forthcoming family scooter from Ather is set to make substantial strides in comfort and safety, exemplifying the brand's commitment to exceeding conventional expectations.

The brand has already slated the Ather Rizta’s launch during Ather’s community day 2024. So we expect an official announcement soon.

ONGC Signs Cooperation Agreement With TotalEnergies To Detect And Measure Methane Emissions

On the occasion of India Energy Week 2024, ONGC signed a Cooperation Agreement with TotalEnergies to carry out methane emissions detection and measurement campaigns using TotalEnergies’ pioneer AUSEA (Airborne Ultralight Spectrometer for Environmental Applications) technology.

ONGC has been inviting international technology partners to help reduce its methane emissions in India by 2030, while TotalEnergies has decided to share its AUSEA technology in an effort to pivot the whole industry towards zero methane emissions by 2030. Both companies are party to the Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC), global industry initiative launched at COP28.

ONGC joins a growing list of national companies who have signed cooperation agreements with TotalEnergies for the use of AUSEA including Petrobras in Brazil, SOCAR in Azerbaijan, Sonangol in Angola and NNPCL in Nigeria.

One-of-a-kind technology by TotalEnergies, the AUSEA gas analyzer is mounted on a drone, and was developed by TotalEnergies and its R&D partners. Consisting of a dual sensor capable of detecting methane and carbon dioxide emissions, AUSEA identifies their source at the same time. This technology marks a step change in methane emissions detection and measurement compared to traditional techniques. By allowing access to hard-to-reach emission points, on all types of industrial facilities, both offshore and offshore, AUSEA is reputed as one of the most accurate technologies in the industry.

“Our industry’s priority in the fight against climate change is to slash methane emissions from operations. Aiming for zero methane emissions by 2030 is our collective ambition as signatories of the OGDC at COP28. We are pleased to collaborate and make our AUSEA technology available to ONGC, in India, to detect, measure and eventually reduce methane emissions on their own assets”, said the Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies Patrick Pouyanné.

Commenting on the pact, ONGC Chairman and CEO Arun Kumar Singh said “In line with our collective ambitions as signatories of the OGDC at COP28, ONGC is scouting for new technologies to reduce its methane emissions by 50 % by 2027 and by 80% in 2030 compared to 2020. The introduction of the AUSEA technology will further strengthen our efforts to achieve zero methane emissions by 2038.”

TotalEnergies, a pioneer in slashing down methane emissions. After halving its methane emissions from its operated sites between 2010 and 2020, TotalEnergies set ambitious targets to step up its efforts and reduce methane emissions by a further 50% by 2025 – with the ambition to reach this target a year early, in 2024 - and by 80% in 2030, compared to 2020.

TotalEnergies is also committed to promoting the United Nations Oil and Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP 2.0) framework with other national and international oil companies. The Company has now held the OGMP Gold standard status for the three years in a row.

IPRS Is Set To Mark Its Presence At "Deccan Alternative Music Conference 2024", Scheduled From Feb 9-10 in Bengaluru

The Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) is set to mark its presence at the “Deccan Alternative Music Conference, scheduled from 9th to 10th February in Bengaluru. This initiative aims to enlighten and empower musicians from the region, shedding light on crucial aspects of the music business covering copyright, royalties, and the role of music copyright societies in safeguarding creators' rights.

In an era where music is not just an art but a thriving industry, understanding music copyright is paramount, IPRS has always endeavoured to make musicians aware of their rights. Music copyright protects the intellectual property of creators, ensuring they receive due recognition and compensation for their work. It encompasses the rights of composers, songwriters, and independent artists, offering them a legal shield in the ever-evolving music landscape.

Music copyright societies play a pivotal role in safeguarding the interests of creators. Rights management societies, like IPRS, act as custodians of creators' rights, managing and licensing their music to ensure fair compensation. By joining a copyright society, music creators gain a powerful ally in navigating the complexities of the music industry, ensuring that their music is duly protected and monetized.

For creators, royalties serve as a consistent source of income. IPRS, as a govt. authorised music copyright society, actively collects and distributes royalties on behalf of its members, turning creative endeavours into a sustainable livelihood. Understanding the nuances of royalties is crucial for artists to maximize their earnings and foster a thriving music-creator economy.

As part of the Deccan Alternative Music Conference, IPRS is hosting an insightful workshop aimed at demystifying music copyright and licensing, the role IPRS plays in managing creator and publisher rights, and their right to royalties. IPRS will guide participants through the benefits of being represented as a community, ensuring due credits through data registration, and providing valuable insights that will help boost their musical journey.

In addition to the workshop, IPRS is organizing an exclusive enrolment boot camp during the conference. Independent artists, songwriters, and composers can seize this opportunity for on-the-spot registration. This initiative is designed to empower creators by facilitating seamless access to the benefits of IPRS membership.

Creators attending the Deccan Alternative Music Conference, are encouraged to participate in the workshop and enrolment boot camp, gaining valuable insights and establishing direct connections with the IPRS team. The conference promises not just a platform for musical expression but also a gateway to unlocking the full potential of a creator's work.

IPRS invites all independent artists, bands, songwriters, and composers to be part of this enriching experience. Mark your calendars for the Deccan Alternative Music Conference, and embark on a journey to enhance your understanding of music copyright, royalties, and the transformative role of IPRS in shaping the music industry.

Commenting on this, Singer, Composer and IPRS member Bindhu Malini said, “As a member of IPRS, I am aware of how critical it is to understand and protect our rights as a creator in the dynamic music business. The Deccan Alternative Music Conference offers a priceless forum for knowledge, networking, and understanding the nuances of the music business to new and upcoming artists and music creators. Being a member of IPRS means more than just financial returns; it's about joining a global community of music creators, where IPRS acts as a strong ally, advocating for my cause and safeguarding my rights. Glad to be part of this journey.”

Adding to this, Mr. Rakesh Nigam, CEO of The Indian Performing Right Society Limited said; “As we participate in the Deccan Alternative Music Conference, our focus is on empowering creators hailing from the vibrant musical landscapes of the region. A special thanks to the organisers of the Deccan Alternative Music Conference, for crafting this unique space where regional talents can amplify their understanding of the music business. Through strategic collaborations and extensive outreach, our goal is to reach every artist, transcending geographical boundaries, and making sure they are well-versed about the opportunities and protections that await them in the rapidly evolving music industry.”

The Indian music industry is witnessing unprecedented growth, transcending borders. Independent and non-film music is gaining popularity and winning fans across geographies. But it is alarming that a vast majority of songwriters are unaware of their rights, the clauses outlined by the Copyright Law in favour of music creators, and how to protect their rights and rightful dues. IPRS has been incessantly working towards empowering and educating music makers on matters that shape their careers and help them reap more from their creations. IPRS’s participation at the Deccan Alternative Music Conference, is a step towards that.

About IPRS:

IPRS is the Music Copyright Society in India registered under the Copyright Act, 1957 representing the authors, composers, and publishers of music. It counts more than 13,000 of India’s best-known authors, composers, and music publishers as its members. IPRS is authorized under the Copyright Act, 1957 to carry on the business of issuing and granting of licenses in respect of musical works and literary works associated with musical works assigned to it by its members. These revenues are collected and distributed to its members including the authors’ statutory royalties after deducting its administrative expenses for the exploitation of the works either by way of live performances and/or sound recordings through any medium except when shown as a part of a cinematograph film shown in a cinema hall.
