Mamaearth Goes Live On Television With Onion Hair Oil Commercial

Mamaearth, one of the fastest growing FMCG brands in India, launched their first national television advertisement with their new film on Onion hair oil. The television commercial highlights the benefits of onion oil to reduce hair fall, and pitches Mamaearth’s innovative product as a modern alternative to DIY alternatives of making onion pulp for hair at home.

The TVC film conceptualised by Korra Worldwide highlights the benefits of Onion. Featuring leading actors Aahana Kumra and Pavail Gulati, the film starts with Aahana chopping onions in her kitchen, resorting to the traditional way of using Onion pulp as hair fall remedy. Pavail, playing her husband, walks into the room and watching her slicing and dicing onions, eagerly enquires about the menu hoping for a scrumptious dish. When she answers explaining that the onions are for her hair fall instead, he presents Mamaearth onion hair oil to her the most convenient alternative. Positioning Mamaearth onion hair oil as an easier and modern way to give one’s hair the goodness of Sulphur, enriched with 10 essential oils & herbs that helps in reducing hair fall, the film is a simple yet powerful representation of the brands philosophy and product proposition of goodness inside.

Commenting on the campaign, Ghazal Alagh, Co-Founder and CIO at MamaEarth said “Millennials are increasingly choosing products that are free of chemicals and safe. Mamaearth, with the goodness of nature in their products, is increasingly becoming the brand of choice by millennials for the product and value proposition. While the age-old remedies are effective, it is extremely tedious and time consuming to make the traditional preparations. Mamaearth is bringing these traditional recipes, coupling it with science and presenting convenient yet effective solutions for skincare and haircare needs. The film reflects this exact proposition. We hope this thought resonates with the millennials and they come forward and choose natures goodness with us and our products.”

The launch of the television commercial is an extension of the partnership with the highly popular television show Big Boss on Colors TV and Voot. And the campaign has also gone live across social media and digital platforms.

Commenting on this Gaurav Nabh, CEO at Korra said: "In cluttered category like hair oil, this innovative product required a simple and easy way of communicating its benefit in a short duration. Our latest work on the onion hair oil for MamaEarth is a simple idea & story that addresses the key barrier for usage. The fact that it's told lovingly through the voice of TV / Digital influencers makes the film likeable and endearing while delivering the message.

Deepak Kumar, Head of Creative at Korra said: “Women are very aware of the benefits of onion oil, especially with the rising searches on Youtube and DIY hacks. But these hacks and remedies are cumbersome and very laborious. The Mamaearth TVC had to clearly remind people about the ease of using onion oil now in a bottle and we did that with a simple slice of life situation of a couple where the husband showcases the goodness inside by helping solve the problem for his wife. The right cast, right music helped us create this beautiful piece.”

The TVC conceptualized by Korra Worldwide is a 25 second film and will be followed by shorter edit of 10 seconds, highlighting the product facet.

Bengaluru Girl Makes It to Top 4 National Finalists of India Fact Quiz 2020 Championship

After a gripping regional final for the South zone of India Fact Quiz Championship 2020, Shriya Ejanthker from Bengaluru beat 3 other semi-finalists from home state Karnataka and Telangana to qualify for the final leg of the national championship. The regional final was conducted virtually via Zoom and aired on TV over the weekend on Times NOW.

India Fact Quiz was launched in February 2020 as India’s first ever digitally gamified quiz on data and facts on India. It was conceptualized with the objective of challenging and correcting the biases of India’s youth around data and facts on India, in sectors like health, education, gender, climate, welfare and population. The championship, targeting the age group between 17-25, is created as a launchpad to identify the brightest and most factful young minds of India. It was launched with an online quiz content with over 450,000 quizzers participating across India. From this, 4 semi-finalists were shortlisted from the North, South, East and West zones each. The winners of each zonal final will qualify as the top 4 national finalists and compete for the pole position as India’s first Fact Champion.

Shriya, the winner of the South zone final, is currently in her second year of B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from PES University, Bengaluru, and has a keen interest in all things related to socio-development and policymaking. In the regional round, she competed against the following 3 semi-finalists: Syed Murtuza Hashmi, 25, MD (Radio-Diagnosis), Deccan College of Medical Sciences, from Hyderabad, Telangana; Sampreeth Desai, 21, B.E (Industrial Engineering & Management), Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, from Vijayapur, Karnataka; and Siddharth Jena, 25, Ph.D. (Climate Change and Wind Engineering), IIT Roorkee, from Belagavi, Karnataka.

The final was hosted by journalist Govindraj Ethiraj, founder of DataBaaz, a data-driven video story platform. The contestants and Govindraj enjoyed traversing through various quizzing rounds such as true and false, multiple choice questions and ranking in order. They were quizzed on their knowledge and biases on topics like gender pay gap, urban and rural infrastructure, health and disease control, climate change and renewable energy, government schemes and policies, and even Covid-19 related topics.

Excited to be representing Karnataka and the entire Southern zone of India at the national finals of IFQ 2020, Shriya says, “Participating in India Fact Quiz is opening my eyes and ears in an entirely new way to how I see India today. I do feel it challenged my biases as it presented an India that was far better performing than I had pictured. One such question was the percentage of married Indian women earning equal to or more than their spouses. The answer was around 44%, whereas I thought that number would be 12%, as I was under the impression a large number of urban Indian women do not work or work in lesser paid jobs, and most rural Indian women do unpaid work such as helping their husbands in the field or threading cotton. So, it was surprising to learn that almost half of married Indian women earn as much as or more than their spouses. I am now looking forward to being challenged in the final round of the championship and explore new areas that I can open my mind to.”

Along with Shriya from the South, the winner of the North final is 18-year-old Aditya Maurya from New Delhi, the youngest finalist in the championship. Together, they will be part of the upcoming national final with two other winners from the West & East.

The following upcoming episodes of the India Fact Quiz 2020 Championship will be aired on Times NOW:

• Regional final (West & East): 28th November, 2020 at 2:30 PM & 29th November, 2020 at 4:30 PM

• National final: 5th December, 2020 at 2:30PM& 6th December, 2020 at 4:30 PM

Edelweiss Tokio Life Unveils Educational Program for Organ Donation in 2nd Edition of #NoMoreWaiting Initiative

Continuing its social initiative #NoMoreWaiting for a second year, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance today unveiled a unique educational program on organ donation and a plan to build a corpus for underprivileged organ recipients. The insurer will continue its partnership with MOHAN Foundation, an NGO actively working for the cause.

Once again, the insurer has roped in Rahul Bose, Actor and Social Activist, as the face of the initiative and aims to harness his social influence in spreading awareness for this cause.

Commenting on the organ donation initiative, Sumit Rai, MD & CEO, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance said, “We deeply resonate with the cause of organ donation because it coincides with our organisation’s vision of protecting people’s dreams and aspirations. This year, we have widened our scope by investing in educating people and aim to gradually make organ donation a subject that is extensively discussed within our social circles. We hope to make a tangible and real-world impact by extending educative as well as economic support.”

The 2nd edition of #NoMoreWaiting will extend for a year and aims to create Organ Donation Ambassadors across the country through a structured program. As a part of this program, the insurer, together with MOHAN Foundation, will offer a 4-hour online certification course, followed by a 2-hour interactive session with experts, organ donor families and recipients.

With support from Edelweiss Tokio Life and MOHAN Foundation, people who have completed this course can conduct awareness sessions, social media campaigns and encourage others to pledge for organ donation.

Another important leg of this initiative will be its fund-raising campaign. The insurer will conduct fund-raising events throughout the year by partnering with well-known Indian musicians and help build a corpus for MOHAN Foundation. This corpus will support underprivileged organ recipients by facilitating expensive transplant surgeries.

Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee, MOHAN Foundation said, “The ongoing pandemic has set back the cause of organ donation as containing Covid 19 has been a priority for all those involved in public welfare, be it hospitals or the government. This phenomenon is not limited to India but has happened across the world. So, such awareness initiatives are much more important in the current scenario to ensure that we keep moving forward in this journey irrespective of the external situation and reflect back and consolidate our achievements of the recent past to build a stronger program for the future.”

Last November, Edelweiss Tokio Life had undertaken a high-impact awareness drive to encourage Indians to take up an organ donation pledge. The insurer collected over 1 lakh pledges in a single month and created a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for most pledges received for an organ donation campaign in 24 hours.

The “Mood of the Nation" Survey 2020” by CoinDCX aimed to understand the sentiments of India’s One Billion strong consumers around cryptocurrency, the technology, and the investment potential of the new and emerging asset class.

The first of its kind national study showcased that 78% of investors in crypto have also invested in mutual funds earlier, 22% of investors in crypto have never invested in any new age investments, whereas 63% of respondents from the IT, Finance & Education sector barring banking felt crypto is a good asset class to invest in. Further only 12% of the respondents from the banking sector felt regulation is the biggest challenge from crypto and stated the reason behind their reluctance to invest in this asset class.

Sumit Gupta, CEO and co-founder of CoinDCX said, “This survey is an important benchmark in the Indian crypto discourse. It highlights the requirements of options for investing in crypto on one side and also emphasises on the requirement of smart regulation in the country. It is clear from the report that, while outwardly India is set to become the next global player on the international scene, it is extremely important that smart and sensible regulations become a part of the discourse.”

“Knowing how an average Indian perceives cryptocurrency puts CoinDCX as well as the Indian cryptocurrency community in a position of responsibility to ensure that every single Indian can understand and adopt cryptos, and join this ever growing community” he further added

72% of full-time employees & 62% of self-employed respondents felt crypto is a good asset class to invest in while less than 5% of Indians comprising homemakers and unemployed respondents said crypto has zero utility. The trend showcased the fact that those with disposable income, were marginally higher and more bullish towards crypto, vis-à-vis the others.

Graduates however took a lead whereby 73% believed that crypto is an alternate investment class, while 67% post graduates cited crypto as a new asset class and a good investment option.

Kashif Raza, Co-founder of Crypto Kanoon, a platform dedicated to clearing regulatory ambiguities in crypto said, “This survey will be a gamechanger for all of us in the cryptocurrency community. The results coming from this survey will help us, as a crypto community, how to bridge the gap between the crypto community and people who want to be a part of this community.“

The report interestingly reiterated that being internet savvy and having a better understanding of the digital economy led to increased interest among millennials for crypto as compared to the older generations. Furthermore, considering the majority of millennials are currently working and have a good amount of disposable income added to their inclination towards the asset.

Post Supreme Court’s judgement in March to lift banking bank, Indian crypto industry has witnessed huge influx of crypto demand from investors. The report titled ‘Mood of the Nation - 2020’ aims to understand the sentiments of investors around cryptocurrency and to understand investment potential. As part of its #TryCrypto movement, CoinDCX conducted the survey through digital means encompassing social media platforms, media houses and communities. A prolific sportswoman, an inspiring influencer, and a strong advocate of social concerns, tennis icon Sania Mirza dons all these hats with absolute ease. And now, she is set to surprise her audiences in yet another way. Sania will soon be seen on MTV Nishedh Alone Together- a 5-episode mini drama series, carrying messages around the awareness and management of Tuberculosis (TB), especially in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Supported through an educational grant from Johnson & Johnson Services Inc. and spearheaded by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and Viacom18, this is a digital only spin-off of MTV Nishedh, the behaviour change communication TV series that premiered in January this year on MTV and Voot. MTV Nishedh Alone Together will start as a weekly miniseries available every Friday from 27th November onwards on MTV India’s and MTV Nishedh’s YouTube, Instagram and Facebook handles.

In her debut appearance in a fiction series, Sania will be playing herself, discussing challenges young people might have faced during lockdown and the need to foster stronger relationships in these trying times. Through her conversations, she will specifically highlight the challenges that have been facing people with TB during these times and underline the importance of seeking proper diagnosis, treatment, support and care. Sania joins the cast with other actors like Priya Chauhan, Syed Raza Ahmed, Himika Bose and Akshay Nalawade, who will also be seen in pivotal roles in the show.

Commenting on her association, Sania Mirza said, “TB continues to be one of the most devastating public health issues in our country. With just under 40% of diagnosed cases occurring in people under the age of 30, there is an urgent need to tackle misconceptions and stigma around it and drive a perception change among young people. MTV Nishedh Alone Together conveys this message in a unique and impactful way. The youth of today is more aware, sensitive, and conscious about issues that plague our country. TB is a continuing menace, and its impact has only worsened through the pandemic. The fight to curb TB is more difficult now than ever and that’s what prompted me to come on board. As someone who is in a place of influence, I hope my presence helps in some way to collectively fight the societal conventions and bring about a positive change.”

A completely shot-at home series, MTV Nishedh Alone Together captures the journey of a young couple, Vicky and Megha, based in Mumbai, who brave it through the professional challenges amidst the lockdown, coupled with concerns around Vicky’s TB treatment in the midst of COVID-19. MTV Nishedh Alone Together has the answer to these questions and much more.

Actor Priya Chauhan said, “MTV Nishedh has given voice to many young people to fight for what is right. Megha has been a challenging yet memorable character for me, for she depicts many aspects of the modern Indian woman. I am glad to bring it back to the audience in MTV Nishedh Alone Together with a sharper focus on TB. What’s more exciting is that we got the support of someone as iconic as Sania Mirza for this one. It has been a delight working with her and we look forward to a successful run.”

Actor Syed Raza Ahmed who plays the role of Vicky commented, “With the first season of MTV Nishedh, we attempted to address an array of issues that typically do not receive the attention they deserve. This extended digital version is a targeted approach to tackle the issue of Tuberculosis in India and how misinformation and taboos continue to make the situation worse. My character showcases the dilemma of a young patient, striving his way through the day to day challenges in both his personal and professional life. I’m happy to be back as Vicky and be a part of MTV Nishedh Alone Together and I hope this edition would be as loved by the audiences as the previous one has.”

5 Technology Startups that are Reshaping the Future of their Industries

The world of technology is always on the move. Innovations come hard and fast, and what might be new and exciting one day is often old news the next. This means that companies must exist in a state of constant evolution, incorporating new ideas and introducing new features in rapid succession. Those that fail to do so face an uphill battle for survival in what is ultimately an extremely competitive space.

But while companies that innovate in the B2C space take centre stage in the eyes of the world due to the visibility of their products, technological advancements that reshape B2B industries are often sidelined. To correct this imbalance, and shine a light on the companies that are quietly revolutionising their sectors, here are four tech startups whose groundbreaking products and services have had a seismic impact on their respective fields:

Logistics Tech – Clickpost

Clickpost is India’s largest and Asia's second-largest logistics intelligence platform. It was launched in 2015 as a courier aggregator and pivoted to being a SAAS platform for shippers in 2017, providing cutting edge logistics intelligence solutions to help customers and e-commerce businesses. Although the logistics intelligence sector is highly competitive and operates on extremely slim margins, Clickpost has been able to stand out through three sustainable differentiators: data, with Clickpost using over 1 billion data points for its AI engine (more than 5x that of its nearest competitor); integrations across the entire delivery ecosystem, including with couriers, shopfronts, order management systems, warehousing systems, and CRMs (Customer Relationship Management); and issue-specific use cases, wherein ClickPost has automated over 100 different types of exceptions (more than 4x that of its nearest competitor).

As a result, Clickpost has achieved profitability within just two years of operations, processing more than 10 million shipments per month and growing at a rate of 600% YoY. It is currently Asia’s second-largest integrated logistics platform with more than 100 logistics partners and is a trusted partner to some of the biggest brands in the industry including Nykaa, PharmEasy, and RealMe.

Adtech – GreedyGame

GreedyGame is India’s leading mobile-first native ads platform launched in 2013, designed to help app and game publishers improve their monetisation through native ad formats and acquire genuine users globally. These ads match the look, feel, and format of any given platform, making them less intrusive and heightening user engagement levels. Through the world’s first AI-enabled ad unit recommendation and creation engine for implementing native ads, GreedyGame allows publishers to easily implement native ads in their apps, optimise their revenues, and avoid any potential policy violations.

With 100 million monthly active users (MAU) and a premium inventory of 300+ Apps (SDK Integrated), GreedyGame has worked with brands like Amazon, ONEPLUS, Dream11, MPL, Zee5, and RummyCircle, among many others. The current annual revenue run rate is $2mn, having  grown with a CAGR of 131% over the last 6 years. It has secured funding from leading institutions such as Times Internet and the IIT-Ropar Entrepreneurship Cell. GreedyGame has also been selected to be a part of NASSCOM’s 10,000 startup programme, and won the Techinasia Startup Arena India edition in 2016.

Lovetech – Aisle

Based out of Bangalore, Aisle is India’s leading high-intent dating app, built for Indians by Indians. Designed for Indian-origin members from around the world who are looking for serious relationships, Aisle has staked its claim to the middle ground between traditional matrimonial websites and casual dating apps. Through its landmark game theory model, Aisle rewards users who bring authenticity, emotion, and investment to every conversation. This approach has made Aisle India’s most successful dating app, with more success stories per 1000 users than any other platform in the country.

Aisle’s trailblazing approach to the world of online dating is best exemplified by its recent launch of the ‘Rooms’ feature. This revolutionary new live streaming option allows users to interact-before-matching by hosting a virtual ‘Room’ and initiating an audio conversation with any other interested user. Through this exciting feature, users have the opportunity to form a connection through real conversations before choosing to match.

Crowdtech – Brandie

Brandie was established in 2016 as the world’s first crowd marketing platform. Brandie is built on the principle that consumers already endorse their favourite companies on social media. Collaborating with Brandie allows brands to reward this behaviour, and build a network of vocal loyalists in the process. Playing on the concept of word-of-mouth marketing, the founders of Brandie have developed a disruptive model where consumers promote the brand they love on social media by posting pictures and earn rewards for it.

This unique approach results in an increase in the brand’s revenue, while simultaneously reducing their marketing spend and receiving valuable user generated content. Since its launch in India, Brandie has tied up with brands such as Air India, Godrej Nature’s Basket, Raw Pressery, and The Belgian Waffle Company.

Ed-Tech- Spayee
