*Skill Thrill Gen Z Takes Centre Stage At IIHM On World Youth Day*
Centred around the theme ‘Skill Thrill Gen Z’, the celebrations moved beyond conventional observances to give students opportunities to think on their feet, express ideas, make choices, collaborate and demonstrate how the next generation of hospitality and tourism professionals can contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future. The celebrations also reflected IIHM’s emphasis on connecting education with the wider hospitality and travel industry through industry associations and collaborations, including its engagement with Skal International Bangalore and Young Skal.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Suborno Bose, Chairman, International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), said, “Today’s young people are entering a world where knowledge alone will not define success. They need creativity, empathy, adaptability, technological understanding and the confidence to communicate their ideas. Hospitality education has a unique ability to bring all these qualities together. World Youth Day gives us an opportunity to celebrate the potential of our students while encouraging them to become responsible professionals and future leaders who can make a meaningful difference to the industry and society.”
Ms. Sanchari Chowdhury, Director, IIHM Bangalore and Head-South Operations, IIHM and Director, Young Skal, said, “Gen Z learns differently. They want to participate, experiment, question, create and understand how what they learn connects with the real world. At IIHM, we also believe that industry associations and collaborations are important in giving students exposure beyond the classroom. Through platforms such as Young Skal, students get opportunities to connect with the larger hospitality and tourism ecosystem, understand industry perspectives and develop the confidence and networks that will support them as future professionals.”
Ms. Mani Megalai, President, Skal International Bangalore, said, “The future of travel and hospitality will be shaped by young professionals who combine skills and innovation with a strong sense of responsibility towards people, communities and the planet. Initiatives such as these give students an opportunity to engage with the industry at an early stage, exchange ideas and understand the possibilities that the tourism and hospitality sector offers. Skal International Bangalore is delighted to encourage platforms that help young people build meaningful industry connections and prepare themselves for the future.”
*Where Skills Met Creativity, Competition and Quick Thinking*
The day began with an opening brief and introduction during the assembly, setting the stage for a series of student-led activities under ‘Skill Thrill Gen Z’. The Scratch Up Pitch challenged students to present and sell an idea within two minutes, testing their ability to communicate with clarity, confidence and impact.
Creativity took centre stage with ‘Culinary in Modern Interpretation’, where students explored contemporary approaches to culinary concepts. The ‘One Ingredient, One Minute Reels’ activity brought hospitality skills into the digital storytelling space, encouraging students to communicate creatively through short-form video.
Adding an element of strategy and spirited competition was the Dessert Island Debate for first-year students. Built around the challenge, ‘You can only take three-what will you choose?’, students had to make their case, defend their choices and persuade others. The exercise put teamwork, critical thinking and persuasion skills to the test through a fun, high-energy format.
*From Sustainable Classrooms to a Sustainable Future*
The celebrations also placed a strong emphasis on the larger issues that will shape the future of young hospitality professionals. A 30-minute proctor-led session brought students together around six themes such as Dignity, Opportunities in Hotel and Hospitality Management, Meaningful Participation, Decent Work, Quality Education and Sustainable Future.
Sustainability was taken from concept to practice through ‘Sustainable Hotels through Sustainable Classrooms’, a poster-making competition conducted by the Circle of Masters. Students from Food Production, Rooms Division and Food & Beverage also shared short video bytes highlighting sustainability practices followed in their respective classrooms, demonstrating how responsible hospitality can begin with everyday learning and practices.
A session on World Youth Development further encouraged students to look beyond professional success and consider their role and responsibilities in a rapidly changing world.
Through a combination of skills, creativity, sustainability, debate and industry engagement, IIHM Bangalore’s World Youth Day 2026 celebration highlighted the importance of preparing young people not merely to enter the hospitality and tourism industry, but to participate in shaping its future.
SonicWall Expands MSP Portfolio With Simplified Endpoint Protection
SonicWall announced the launch of SonicWall Endpoint Security, a unified endpoint protection solution purpose-built for managed service providers (MSPs) serving small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). Available as a standalone Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tool or as a Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service, fully managed by the SonicSentry security operations center, the platform brings powerful threat protection, automated threat response and one-click ransomware restore. The solution is powered by SonicWall’s patented Real-Time Deep Memory Inspection (RTDMI™) engine to stop advanced threats in real time.
The launch responds to an urgent gap in the SMB security market. One in three SMBs are expected to experience a cyberattack, yet 60% of MSPs that suffer a breach never fully recover. Many affordable endpoint tools marketed to this segment are stripped-down versions of enterprise platforms, trading away the advanced detection capabilities needed to stop today's most sophisticated threats. SonicWall Endpoint Security closes that gap.
“MSPs shouldn't have to choose between enterprise-grade protection and margin viability,” said Chandro Prasad, SonicWall Chief Product Officer. “SonicWall Endpoint Security ends that trade-off. It gives MSPs and their customers the same detection and response technology enterprises rely on, built into a platform that's easy to deploy, easy to manage and priced for real-world budgets.”
Enterprise-Grade Protection Without Enterprise Complexity
SonicWall Endpoint Security combines next-generation antivirus (NGAV) and EDR into a single, lightweight agent managed from a unified, multi-tenant console.
Key features include:
Advanced Threat Prevention: Powered by behavior-based heuristic scanning, patented RTDMI™, and automated storyline responses (STAR) for precise threat hunting.
Verified Protection: VB100 listed by Virus Bulletin.
Instant Ransomware Recovery: One-click rollback restores compromised endpoints to a known-good state in minutes.
Built-In Value: Device control built in and easy integration to other SIEM and ticketing tools for streamlined work
Fully Managed by SonicSentry
For MSPs and partners without an existing security practice, SonicWall Endpoint Security is also available as a fully managed MDR service through SonicSentry. SonicWall's 24/7 SOC handles deployment, threat hunting, incident response and policy management, giving partners always-on protection and expert response without hiring additional analysts or carrying the operational burden of running a SOC themselves.
Firewalls.com, an MSP that ran SonicWall Endpoint Security through its beta program, said the platform's simplicity and depth were evident from deployment, enough that the company chose to run it in its own environment as well.
"Deployment was seamless, management was intuitive, and the preconfigured policies let us deliver meaningful protection right away," said Johnny S. Casiano III, Director of Professional Services at Firewalls.com. "We evaluated the platform thoroughly through the beta program, and there is no stronger endorsement than trusting the same technology to protect our own business that we confidently recommend to our customers."
Built for the Way MSPs Do Business
SonicWall Endpoint Security is available in three tiers designed to match how MSPs build and price their services. Endpoint Security Advanced, delivers core NGAV and EDR protection. Endpoint Security Premier, adds extended telemetry retention for deeper forensic visibility. MDR for Endpoint Security adds SonicWall's 24x7x365 SOC, managed threat hunting, and best-practice-led policy management. All three tiers are specifically priced to be accessible to SMBs.
Available Now
SonicWall Endpoint Security is available today through SonicWall's global partner network on monthly or term subscriptions and integrates with the broader SonicWall Unified Management ecosystem alongside SonicWall's firewall and cloud security offerings.

HDFC Bank Urges Citizens To Stay Vigilant Against ‘Boss Scam’
In the Boss Scam, fraudsters impersonate senior leaders and trusted colleagues on social messaging apps to trick employees into making payments or sharing sensitive information.
How does this scam work:
Fraudsters send emails or messages on social media and messaging platforms, impersonating regulators or senior company executives such as CEOs and CXOs. The message typically claims that the organisation has violated some regulations, creating an urgency and pressuring the recipient to act quickly. The fraudsters share a ZIP file, supposedly containing compliance or security documents. When opened, it silently installs malware. The malware compromises the executive’s device (laptop / mobile), giving fraudsters access to their real social media messaging app account. Using the hijacked account, fraudsters send messages to the finance or accounts personnel, directing them to make urgent high-value transfers. In some cases, criminals save their own numbers under the CEO’s name on the compromised device, making fraudulent instructions appear completely legitimate.
Tips to protect yourself from Boss Scam
· Always verify financial requests independently: Cross-check any urgent payment instruction or beneficiary account change request through a direct phone call or face to face confirmation.
· Never install unknown files: Do not download or install ZIP/executable files received from unknown sources—regulators never send attachments via social media apps.
· Enforce software restriction policies on company systems. Keep device’s operating system malware detection tools updated.
· Report fraudulent/suspicious calls, messages on the Chakshu portal at https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/ or via the Sanchar Saathi mobile app.
Cautioning on this fraud, Mr. Manish Agrawal, Senior Executive Vice President – Credit Intelligence and Control – HDFC Bank, said, “The fraudsters are using Boss Scam incidents to defraud organisations where the employees from the accounts department (authorised signatories) are induced to make payment on pretext of fake instructions received from the senior executive of the organisation. Awareness is the strongest defence against such frauds. These scams combine social engineering, malware and impersonation techniques to trick employees into making unauthorised fund transfers. Organisations should ensure strict controls around software installation, employee awareness programmes, and verification of payment requests before processing transactions. Authorised signatories must be advised against making any payments merely based on text / email without ensuring authenticity of such messages.”
In the event of falling prey to such fraud the victim should immediately report the unauthorised transactions to the bank to get the payment channel blocked, i.e., cards/UPI/net banking to safeguard against future losses. Customers should also file a complaint by calling 1930, a helpline number started by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as well as submit a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal https://www.cybercrime.gov.in

Uber Drives Deeper Into Indian Market With Entry Into 100 More Cities
Uber has announced one of its largest expansions in India, bringing its services to 100 more cities and taking its footprint to 225 cities across the country. Powered by Uber Bike, the expansion takes affordable, reliable mobility deeper into smaller-town India while creating new flexible earning opportunities for tens of thousands of local drivers.
From Jammu in the north to Tirunelveli in the south, Silchar in the east to Jamnagar in the west, Uber will begin by launching Uber Bike operations across the new cities, providing an affordable option for everyday journeys and first- and last-mile connectivity. The expansion spans 18 states and one Union Territory, significantly deepening Uber's presence beyond large Indian cities.
Marking the expansion around India's Independence Day, Uber is also giving first-time riders across the country their first Uber ride free for a limited period, inviting more Indians to experience the convenience, transparency and safety features of app-based mobility that have helped make Uber one of India’s most loved mobility apps.
Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, said: "India's growing road network is connecting smaller cities and unlocking new economic opportunities. I congratulate Uber on expanding to 100 more cities, bringing affordable mobility to more Indians while creating livelihood opportunities for thousands of people. The Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2025 provide states with a clear path to embrace bike taxis and other new mobility solutions and I urge states to adopt the Guidelines and enable affordable first- and last-mile connectivity for their citizens while boosting livelihood creation at scale. Uber's partnership with the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyaan reflects the importance of ensuring that growth in mobility goes hand-in-hand with safer roads."
Rishant Ghosh, Director - Consumer & Growth, Uber India & South Asia, said: "Expanding to 100 new cities marks an important milestone as we take Uber deeper into India and strengthen access to reliable, affordable mobility to millions. The aspiration for convenient mobility is no different in a smaller city than it is in a major metro city, and we are investing to meet that demand. Uber Bike is particularly well suited to these markets, offering an affordable and convenient option for everyday journeys while creating flexible earning opportunities for local drivers. As we cross 220 cities in India, we remain excited about the opportunity to serve millions more across the country.”
The expansion builds on the growing role of two-wheelers in India's everyday mobility. For riders, Uber Bike offers an affordable way to travel short distances, navigate traffic congestion and connect to public transport. For drivers, it provides a low-barrier way to access flexible earning opportunities using an asset many already own.
Bike is also part of Uber's broader ambition to build a multimodal mobility platform for India, giving consumers greater choice based on how, when and where they need to travel - from Bike and Auto for everyday journeys to cars, airport rides and Intercity, alongside integrations with public transport.
Every Uber Bike trip is backed by Uber's suite of in-app safety features, including Realtime Driver ID Check, an in-app SOS Button, Share Trip Status and Uber's 24x7 Safety Line, helping riders travel with greater confidence.

Most GCC Leaders Cite Talent Upskilling As Critical To Maintaining Competitive Advantage Over The Next Four Years: Survey
Nearly 90% of India's Global Capability Centre (GCC) leaders are confident about retaining their global leadership position through 2030 but cite unresolved talent and skill gaps across AI and sector-specific knowledge as risks that could retard growth, according to PwC India-FICCI’s study titled, “Navigating the skills imperative for India's GCCs in the AI era.”
The report, based on a survey of 200 senior GCC executives across eight industries, finds that GCC leaders believe workforce upskilling is an urgent requirement. At least 72% of GCCs across sectors and sizes must reskill or upskill over 40% of their workforce. This entails enterprise-wide scale, not incremental programmes. Most GCCs currently allocate 3–5% of operating budgets to talent development. However, an overwhelming 94% believe investments must rise to at least 6%, with more than a quarter expecting spending to exceed 8%.
Rajesh Ojha, Partner and Leader - GCC Market Segment, PwC India, said, “India's GCC story is at an inflection point. GCCs are increasingly becoming the enterprise nerve centre where strategic decision-making, digital innovation, and AI-led transformation converge to create global business impact. But sustaining this shift will require a fundamental reimagining of workflows, leadership models, and skilling ecosystems. The GCCs that succeed will be those that build composite skills and capabilities, combining frontier AI skills with deep domain knowledge and human judgment.”
As enterprises increasingly deploy AI across core operations, the report finds that GCCs are shifting from being cost-efficient service providers to becoming AI-native intelligence cores with 86% of leaders expecting AI to bring substantial or transformational change to the nature of work by 2030. A blend of frontier AI capabilities (data engineering, machine learning, cybersecurity) and foundational competencies (domain expertise, business judgment, strategic leadership) will be the new competitive advantage.
Raghav Narsalay, Partner and Leader – Research and Insight Hub, PwC India, said: “ AI aspirations are outpacing leadership preparedness, and the gap between hiring talent and making it truly AI-ready needs to be bridged through deliberate, structured, and sector-relevant skilling pathways .”
Key insights from the report:
Top talent supply constraints for GCCs: 62% of leaders cite the absence of professionals combining domain expertise with tech capabilities as the biggest supply-side constraint, followed by intense competition for talent (55%) and a shortage of senior leaders with AI-era strategic competencies (52%).
AI literacy gap at the top: Leadership AI literacy stands at just 27% on average, with over 90% of GCCs reporting that 40% or fewer of their leadership team possess sufficient AI literacy for strategic decision-making.
Sector-specific pressure points: Reskilling needs are steepest in regulated, knowledge-intensive sectors like energy (87%), life sciences (80%), and healthcare (80%), though even the lowest-need sectors (BFSI, TMT, manufacturing) sit near 50%, making it a universal challenge.
Slow time-to-productivity: New hires take an average of 8.69 months to become fully productive and is a friction point which stands between talent ambition and execution.
Policy asks from industry: 57% of leaders want AI and digital modules embedded into engineering and management curricula, while 51% recommend government co-funding of GCC reskilling programmes.
About the report: The findings in this report are based on a primary survey of 200 senior GCC decision-makers, including C-suite executives, business leaders, and GCC heads, spanning eight industries across India's leading GCC hubs. The respondent base skews toward mature GCC operations, with nearly two-thirds representing organisations employing more than 500 professionals, and 45% operating as multi-functional centres of excellence delivering capabilities across multiple service lines. The survey data is supplemented by qualitative interviews with GCC leaders, industry experts, and policymakers, and is supported by PwC India's proprietary analysis of the sector.
