MIT Presents Solar Electric Vehicle Championship 2024: Igniting Innovation In Sustainable Transportation


The Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), a premier institution for engineering education and a constituent institute of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, an Institution of Eminence, is proud to announce the upcoming Solar Electric Vehicle Championship (SEVC) 2024 in collaboration with Coimbatore Society of Racing Minds (CSRM), scheduled to be held from 27th to 31st March 2024. The event is conducted jointly by the Department of Aeronautical and Automobile Engineering and Department of Mechatronics of MIT, Manipal. This event marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of sustainable mobility solutions and underscores MIT's commitment to fostering innovation and environmental consciousness.

SEVC 2024 serves as a platform for engineering enthusiasts, innovators, and students from across the nation to demonstrate their skill in designing and constructing solar-powered electric vehicles. Against the backdrop of the scenic Manipal campus, participants will engage in exhilarating competitions, showcasing the culmination of their hard work, creativity, and dedication. Total 31 teams across India have registered for the SEVC. Out of which 14 teams have been qualified for the final dynamic round. The event will be witnessed by 450+ participants across India.

The event not only promotes healthy competition but also encourages collaboration and knowledge exchange among participants, industry experts, and academia. Whitefield Art Collective Launches Its 7th Edition To Be Held From April 05 At VR Bengaluru

Whitefield Art Collective the public art festival supported by Yuj Arts Foundation announced the inauguration of its month-long, seventh edition today. Whitefield Art Collective 2023 encourages creative explorations around the theme of “Transcencing Boundaries”, through partnerships with leading institutions and notable individuals from the city’s artistic community. The theme was chosen to encourage students to surpass the ordinary and the familiar, inspiring them to create sculptures and artworks that challenge conventional thinking. The festival will feature innovative creations that go beyond the boundaries of time, space, culture, and identity to encourage meaningful conversations.

The Public Art Festivals have enlivened the cultural landscape of multiple Indian cities over the past decade. The upcoming Whitefield Art Collective is set to transform VR Bengaluru into a hub of artistic celebration. This month-long event will encompass a captivating blend of art, culture, cinema, photography, musical performances, and workshops.

The Whitefield Art Collective, established in 2016, is a vibrant showcase of the diverse artistic expressions of Bengaluru. The event brings together students, emerging and renowned artists, and leading institutions in a creative exploration of this year’s theme ‘Transcending Boundaries’ Over 100 art installations, sculptures, paintings, and photographs will be displayed at the festival.

Collaborators this year include partnerships with esteemed institutions like the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore University, and Bangalore School of Design. Red Line and Sara Arakkal gallery have joined forces with the Whitefield Art Collective, alongside organizations like UNESCO and the Iconic Women Project. Additionally, this year Whitefield Art Collective has collaborated with PVR Cinemas for art cinema, Snuggles, Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters for learning art of brewing coffee and Million Dreams Academy for the Young Artists programme. A key highlight of the Whitefield Art Collective 2024 is a stunning photo exhibition in association with the UNESCO New Delhi office. The exhibition is based on the UNESCO publication “A Braided River: The Universe of Indian Women in Science,” features charismatic portraits of women scientists who have made their mark in various domains of science. In addition to the exhibit, UNESCO will also host a panel discussion at the Whitefield Art Collective.

The festival will be inaugurated on 5th April by eminent flutist and winner of two national film awards Pt. Pravin Godkhindi. The launch will commence with the unveiling of the ‘Kala Car,’ followed by a classical dance performance by students of Vivrtti Dance Company and a flute recital by Pt. Pravin Godkhindi at the Garden City. The evening will culminate with a viewing of ‘Transcending Boundaries’ an art exhibit at a pop-up gallery especially created for the Whitefield Art Collective. The venue partner, VR Bengaluru, will be a hub of artistic activity, with installations, exhibitions, an art bazaar, workshops, the Young Artists program, and several other exciting events.

This year’s Kala Car has been created in collaboration with the multidisciplinary artist Pradeep Kumar whose work is inspired by the narrative forms and decorative elements related to his native culture, the Lambani tribe. The Iconic Women Project by Kadambari Misra, will exhibit photography that bring to life stories of the unsung female icons of our history. Transforming the walls of the parking area at VR Bengaluru into an art gallery, The Basement Art Project will display works of students from Bangalore University.

Various workshops will provide a platform for participants to delve into art and creativity fostering a vibrant atmosphere of learning and knowledge sharing. Through the screening of an art movie by PVR Cinemas, the festival will bring together cinephiles and art enthusiasts, who share a deep interest in art cinema. The Art Bazaar will offer a curated market for artisans to engage with their audience, accompanied by live music.

Research By Alteryx Finds 79% Of Indian Business Leaders Have Concerns About AI-Produced Answers But Are Not Prioritising Skills


* Research by Alteryx finds that 79% of business leaders across India have concerns about AI-produced answers but are not prioritising skillsets that will help mitigate risks

Alteryx, Inc., a leader in AI for enterprise analytics, released findings from independent research revealing the workforce side effects of AI. As business leaders and recruiters across India prepare for an AI-infused labour market transition, many existing roles will evolve and become obsolete, reshaping the skill stack of the future workforce at an accelerated pace. However, the research titled Defining the Enterprise of the Future highlights a disconnect between the skills and traits currently prioritised during the hiring process and the attributes needed to reap AI’s greatest benefits.

New roles emerge as organisations prepare for the future

While AI may already impact the current workforce, it's critical to stay ahead, develop new skills and prepare for this ever-changing business landscape.

58% anticipate the emergence of the Chief AI Officer role will be critical to a more holistic approach to AI strategy that collaborates with business units from IT and compliance to HR and People teams. For context, just over 400 globally have CAIO in their LinkedIn job titles.

AI applications engineers (47%), responsible for designing and developing AI-powered models; AI/ML engineer (36%), focuses on researching, building and designing self-running artificial intelligence; and AI research scientists (35%), who drive innovation through the research and development of AI systems, are three most urgent hiring priorities cited by business leaders.

The future brings a new look to data and IT teams

As teams look to the future, the findings provide a snapshot of which roles are set to become obsolete, emerging roles to gravitate toward, and skills required for the evolving era of AI-infused intelligence.

Database administration (27%), Repetitive coding (21%), Single-language software development (16%), and AI and ML Development (7%) are among the technical skill sets that will become obsolete. 

55% believe that over the next three years, the advanced tech talent landscape will be characterised by a talent surplus, and 66% say that there will be a surplus of general tech talent through the increasing accessibility and user-friendliness of generative AI technology.

Shifting priorities for the tech labour market

While the overall consensus is that humanity's importance increases in an AI world as humans will do what AI cannot, findings demonstrate a disconnect in skill focus. Despite the well-documented AI skills gap, where demand has far outstripped supply, many businesses still prioritise recruiting for roles with highly sought-after technical skills.

There’s growing recognition for soft skills in collaborating with and questioning the outputs of intelligent systems, so are leaders focused on the wrong recruitment priorities

While 75% of respondents say it is more important for their employees to be multi-skilled than specialising in a specific area, upskilling priorities still favour hard skills over soft skills.

Expertise in AI, software, data analysis and mining, and financial analysis and planning all ranked ahead of the most in-demand soft skills, including data literacy, strategic thinking, digital literacy, and team leadership.

58% cite creativity as the top skill humans will supply in a working world shaped by AI, followed by critical thinking (38%), emotion (35%), and morality (34%), yet only 19% counted critical thinking, and 25% counted creativity in the top three in-demand skills.

“The rapid rise of AI requires business leaders to build and shape the future workforce now to thrive or risk lagging behind in a future transformed by a seismic shift in the skills needed for the era of intelligence,” said Libby Duane-Adams, Chief Advocacy Officer at Alteryx. “Not all employees need to become data scientists. It’s about championing cultures of creative problem-solving, learning to look at business problems through an analytic lens, and collaborating across all levels to empower employees to use data in everyday roles. Continuous investments in data literacy upskilling and training opportunities will create the professional trajectories where everyone can “speak data” and exploit AI applications for trusted, ethical outcomes.”

About the Research

The survey was conducted by Coleman-Parkes in September and October 2023, and targeted 2,800 IT decision-makers, data analysts, and line of business leaders about the enterprise of the future. Respondents were based in North and South America, Europe, Japan (150), India, Singapore, and Australia. There was equal representation of the public sector, manufacturing (including supply chain), financial services and banking, and technology. Companies ranged in size from fewer than 500 employees to more than 10,000. 60% had an average revenue of more than $1 billion.

The First Edition Of The NSF Nutrition Conclave Wraps Up With A Blueprint To Combat Malnutrition

Emphasizing effective strategies to break the cycle of malnutrition, the Nourishing Schools Foundation (NSF), in collaboration with Mount Carmel College, Autonomous, Bengaluru- Department of Home Science organized the first edition of the Nourishing Schools Foundation Nutrition Conclave. The Conclave, organized at Mount Carmel College, Autonomous, Bengaluru, was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Ms. Veena S. Rao, Director, Auro Centre for Public Nutrition, Public Health and Public Policy and Former Advisor, Karnataka Nutrition Mission and Dr. K. Madan Gopal, Former Senior Consultant, NITI Aayog, as Special Guests.

The agenda of the Conclave focused on the need to enhance collaborative efforts between stakeholders and industry leaders in developing strategies to combat malnutrition. It included extensive panel discussions on various subjects, such as the significant role of empowering children in eradicating malnutrition, the integration of nutrition education through school curricula, the importance of impact assessment in combating malnutrition, and the transformative power of CSR in school nutrition-based initiatives.
