Herbalife Nutrition India Enters Eye Health Segment With Ocular Defense

In line with its commitment to nutrition and wellness, the global nutrition company, Herbalife Nutrition India, has entered the eye health segment with its new product, ‘Ocular Defense’.

The product comes in capsule format and is scientifically formulated to support eye health^. The product contains nutrients that help in maintenance of normal vision and helps in supporting macular health.

Ocular Defense contains a combination of lutein and zeaxanthin that is clinically proven to support the macular health of eyes and improves macular pigment optical density. Macula is the central portion of the retina which helps to clearly see the objects in front of you, and an eye's macular health can be indicated by its density measured as Macular Pigment Optical Density (MOPD). MPOD measures the concentration of carotenoids  (lutein, zeaxanthin- that help filter blue light) in the macular pigment of the eye. Blue light has a potential to cause retinal damage and MPOD is an indirect indicator of the ability of macula to filter high energy blue light. The density could also change over time depending on factors such as ageing, lifestyle, and dietary choices.

Human eye has complex cellular connectivity and many molecules play a role in helping us with the normal visual process. Ocular Defense also contains vitamin A and zinc that helps in maintenance of normal vision and vitamins C, E and minerals including copper and zinc that have antioxidant properties.

While commenting about this new product, Ajay Khanna, Senior Vice President & Managing Director of Herbalife Nutrition India, stated, “At Herbalife Nutrition India, we are constantly innovating to find new solutions to support health & wellness. The eye is a vital organ in the human body, and one needs to care for it. Ocular Defense is a scientifically designed formula,  containing a combination of lutein and zeaxanthin* that is clinically-proven to support macular health and contains nutrients that support maintenance of normal vision.”

Uber Tech Announces 7-Year Strategic Cloud Partnership With Oracle

Oracle and Uber Technologies, Inc., today announced a seven-year strategic cloud partnership to accelerate Uber’s innovation, help deliver new products to market, and drive increased profitability.

As Uber continues to grow and enter new markets, it is increasingly important for the business to focus resources on its core strengths and strategic initiatives. By migrating some of the company’s most critical workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Uber will be in a position to modernize its infrastructure while also accelerating its path to profitability.

“Uber is revolutionizing the way people, products, and services move across continents and through cities,” said Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi. “To deliver on that promise for customers while building value for shareholders, we needed a cloud provider that will help us maximize innovation while reducing our overall infrastructure costs. Oracle provides an ideal combination of price, performance, flexibility, and security to help us deliver incredible customer service, build new products, and increase profitability.”

This new strategic partnership with Uber along with recent analyst reports serve as powerful validation of OCI’s strategy and product vision. Customers want both flexibility and best-in-class price-performance infrastructure across a global footprint. Uber can now take advantage of these capabilities that only OCI provides.

“Uber is expanding into a ‘go anywhere, get anything’ platform, and the company needed a cloud partner that shares a relentless focus on innovation,” said Oracle CEO, Safra Catz. “This landmark competitive win for OCI is further validation of the momentum and acceleration we are experiencing in the market. Enterprises, governments, and startups around the world are recognizing the differentiation of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and experiencing our performance, security, and economic benefits versus other hyperscalers.”

Along with the OCI agreement, the strategic partnership includes other areas of collaboration between the two companies. Oracle will become a global Uber for Business client, selecting Uber as a preferred rideshare for its employees to travel and eat around the world. Uber and Oracle will also continue co-innovating on additional retail and delivery solutions that will evolve from the cloud partnership including consumer experiences with last-mile logistics.

P&G India And Centre For Civil Society Flag-Off ‘Women In STEM Caravan’ Roadshow On International Day For Women And Girls

* The roadshow began with a high-powered roundtable discussion in New Delhi focused on policy provisions, ground realities, role of corporates and direct interventions for Women in #STEM

* The roadshow will now move on to its next destinations in Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra where it will recognize and award P&G Shiksha Betiyan Scholarships to girls pursuing STEM courses

Procter and Gamble India (P&G India) and Centre For Civil Society flagged off a first-of-its-kind ‘Women In STEM Caravan’ on February 11th - a multi-city roadshow that brought together key stakeholders to advance women's participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) trades. The roadshow, officially recognized as a part of the G20 events, commenced in New Delhi on International Day for Women and Girls in Science, with a high-powered ‘Women in STEM: Policy, Practice & Interventions’ roundtable conference focused on policy provisions, ground realities, role of corporates and direct interventions for advancing women’s representation in STEM opportunities.

The conference brought together over 20 eminent professionals, including policymakers, practitioners, academicians, and investors to discuss ways in which women representation in STEM can be strengthened through the right interventions, necessary policy reforms and implementation of best practices. The dignitaries present at the conference included representatives from P&G India, Centre For Civil Society, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, and Niti Aayog. The discussion revolved around key thematic areas including enabling women's entry into STEM careers through policy measures, voices from the ground reporting on current realities of women in STEM across sectors and civil society, government and business interventions that can facilitate women's entry and retention into STEM careers over the next 5 years.

During the conference, P&G India and Centre For Civil Society also recognized and awarded P&G Shiksha Betiyan Scholarships to girls pursuing courses at Industrial Training Institute in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh. In its next stage, the caravan will now travel to Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra where it will award more scholarships under the P&G Shiksha Betiyan Scholarship Program to girls pursuing varied courses for higher education in STEM fields.

Speaking on the occasion, LV Vaidyanathan, MD & CEO, P&G India said, “At P&G, we believe in helping create a world where equality and inclusion are achievable for all, inside and outside of P&G. Data indicates that in India, female representation in STEM workforce is limited to 14%.  Women continue to also be underrepresented in STEM curriculum, leading to underrepresentation in manufacturing, engineering, and technology roles. The reasons often lie in deep-rooted stereotypes and biases that hold back women from pursuing and advancing in STEM careers. We launched P&G Shiksha Betiyan Scholarship Program last year with the aim to break such barriers for girls who aspire to pursue careers in STEM, in partnership with Centre for Civil society. This year, as we expand our scholarship program to impact more girls, we are happy to come together for meaningful dialogue at ‘Women In STEM Caravan’ to deliberate acceleration of progress, as well as inspire more girls to pursue STEM education.”

Laxmi Sampath Goyal, Chief Executive Officer, Centre For Civil Society said, “The need for women’s representation in STEM fields cannot be overstated. With technological advancements playing a critical role in a nation’s development, women’s participation fosters a diversity in perspectives that stimulates originality, innovation, and efficiency. Given the scope for professional growth and achievement in the fields, it is imperative for us to support women in occupying these lucrative positions and empower them in the process.”

P&G India in partnership with Centre For Civil Society has been working to enable STEM careers for girls with the ‘P&G Shiksha Betiyan Scholarship’ program, as part of its flagship CSR initiative P&G Shiksha, where it is providing financial aid and mentorship to girls aspiring to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. The program has so far supported hundreds of women with the aim of breaking barriers and enabling entry of skilled women professionals into manufacturing, technology, engineering, and other STEM related jobs.

Further, the Company’s skin care brand Olay is working to shrink the gender gap in STEM careers with its ‘STEM The Gap’ initiative, by spotlighting the biases and stereotypes that hold back progress and enabling young girls to get interested and excited by STEM subjects. P&G India also has a long-standing partnership with NITIE and hosts the annual ‘P&G-NITIE Equality Summit’ to spark conversations on issues that perpetuate a glass ceiling for women, uncover deep-rooted stereotypes that still exist, and motivate change specifically linked to equal representation of women STEM and Supply Chain.

Boeing To Continue To Expand Footprint With India Logistics Center

* Center to support regional customers, maintain higher fleet utilization and mission readiness rates

Boeing [NYSE: BA] today announced an investment in a new logistics center in India to cater to its regional customers. Continuing to expand its footprint in the country, Boeing is investing in building capabilities that support an efficient and cost-effective service solution for regional customers to maintain higher fleet utilization and mission readiness rates.

In the initial phase of the operations, the India Logistics Center will focus on supporting airline customers as the civil aviation sector continues to rapidly advance towards becoming the world’s third largest passenger market, surpassed only by the U.S. and China. The fleet of Indian airlines is projected to nearly quadruple in size by 2041 compared to 2019. With a growing domestic market and increasing opportunities for international growth, the airlines will require more holistic service support to drive efficient fleet operations. Today, more than 150 Boeing airplanes, including the Next-Generation 737, 737 MAX, 757, 777, and 787 Dreamliner, are operated by leading Indian commercial airlines.

“The further expansion of our footprint in India with the India Logistics Center supports our long-term investment strategy for the country. We remain excited and committed as we provide critical service support towards the growth of the Indian civil and defence aviation ecosystem," said Salil Gupte, president, Boeing India.

In the second phase, the India Logistics Center will cater to the larger network of Boeing’s customers in the region. Through the Boeing India Repair Development and Sustainment (BIRDS) hub program, Boeing is already supporting local customers by creating an ecosystem of comprehensive support packages and indigenous Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities with its partners. This initiative is a testament to Boeing's commitment to "Make in India" and "Aatmanirbhar Bharat". Currently, India operates a fleet of Boeing aircraft, including 11 C-17s, 22 AH-64 Apaches (with an additional 6 on order), 15 CH-47 Chinooks, 12 P-8Is, 3 VVIP aircraft, and 2 Head of State aircraft.

“A key element of efficient customer support is rapid response and distribution of replacement parts. The India Logistics Center will allow better responsiveness and build on Boeing's existing global reputation for the highest quality of customer service,” said Ashwani Bhargava, senior director, India Supply Chain, Boeing India.

India is well-positioned to localize maintenance services capabilities and provide cost-effective solutions given its large technical labor force, including uniquely qualified and highly trained technicians and industry capabilities. With over eight decades of presence in India, Boeing has built a strong network support for its customers in the region through various initiatives and partnerships while contributing to the growth and development of Indian aerospace and defence sector.
