ISRO or Indian Space Research Organisation PSLV C-16 was successfully launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota at 10.12 am on Wednesday morning. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is carrying a remote sensing satellite Resourcesat-2 and two mini spacecraft.
The countdown, which began at 0342 hours today, was progressing smoothly, ISRO sources said.
Apart from Resourcesat-2, the PSLV-C16 will also launch two other satellites, Youthsat and X-Sat. The 1206 kg Resourcesat-2, the primary satellite, has been built by ISRO for facilitating the study and management of natural resources.
The 92 kg Youthsat is a joint Indo-Russian satellite for stellar and atmospheric studies. X-Sat, weighing 106 kg, is a microsatellite for imaging applications built by Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
However, it still waits to be seen if ISRO's scientists can taste success even on the GSLV that it still needs to perfect.

Billionaire Buffett in India during March 2011
Multi-billionaire Warren Buffet will speak at a fund raising campaign in New Delhi next week. He will launch his firm's insurance selling portal and will meet policy holders at an event at the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi, as per a report on the company's website.
Berkshire India, which will now sell its general insurance policies or products through its berkshireinsurance.com portal. It has invited all policy holders to register for the March 25 event at the Taj.
Buffet is ranked No 3 world's richest by Forbes in 2011 and is expected to attend a ground breaking ceremony in South Korea on March 21 before flying into India.

Canada Ford plant to shutdown in 2011, layoff 1,400 jobs
US automaker Ford Motor Co. will shutter one of its manufacturing plants in Canada in 2011, a move that will cut 1,400 jobs, the Canadian Auto Workers said Friday.
As part of a cost-reduction agreement between the company's US headquarters and the CAW, the plant in St. Thomas, Ontario, will close in the third quarter of 2011, the powerful union said in a statement.
Some 1,400 employees will be dismissed, CAW spokeswoman Shannon Devine told AFP. Canadian media put the number of jobs eliminated at 1,600.
As part of the tentative agreement the union said it obtained a commitment by the US automaker to keep at least 10 percent of its North American production in Canada.
"During the negotiations, Ford threatened that if we didn't come to an agreement, the company would begin shifting investment out of Canada," said Ken Lewenza, president of the CAW.
"In today's globalized economy where companies attempt to bypass community commitments, it's crucial that we don't allow this to happen."
The agreement, which expires in September 2012, is expected to be voted on and approved Sunday by the CAW's 7,000 Ford workers in Canada.
The St. Thomas plant produces the Ford Crown Victoria -- a model routinely chosen by US police forces and New York taxis -- as well as the Mercury Grand Marquis.
Although Ford did not accept bailout money from the US government like Chrysler and General Motors did, the CAW said Ford followed the pattern set out earlier in the year by its US rivals to cut significant portions of their Canada operations as part of restructuring.
Chrysler and GM both filed for bankruptcy and received billions of dollars in US government aid. Canada's government also pumped billions of dollars into the companies as part of packages to keep their auto manufacturing operations here afloat.
As part of the new deal, the CAW agreed to a reduction in holidays and a requirement for workers to contribute to the company's pension fund at the rate of one dollar for every hour worked, Devine said.
Ford for its part made new production and investment commitments in several manufacturing locations in Canada, including production of "at least two new-generation vehicles in the next product cycle" at its Oakville plant outside Toronto.
"This footprint commitment was an important achievement for the union," Lewenza said.
But Ford stood firm on closure of the St. Thomas plant.
"Nothing was harder... than coming to the realization that regardless of whatever suggestions the union came up with to save the St. Thomas facility, Ford would be closing the plant," said Mike Vince, chairman of the CAW-Ford bargaining committee and president of CAW Local 200.
Ford committed to funding and opening a center to assist workers unemployed after the plant closure.

Can a flying car be a reality?
Is a flying car on its way?
An American company Terrafugia Transition, based near Boston, is set to unveil the dual-purpose car-cum-plane vehicle called 'The Flying Car' as early as 2011. The two-seater vehicle can let you fly if you wish to avoid the congested city traffic.
If you want to drive on the road, just touch the road. The vehicle will fold up its wings in 30 seconds and transform itself into a car.
"The Flying Car" can travel up to 725 kilometres in the air at a speed of more than 115 kilometres per hour.
Fuelled by gasoline, it has front wheel drive on the road and a propeller for flight.
With its wings folded, it can be parked in your ordinary car garage.
Its initial cost is expected to be around $200,000 (nearly Rs.1 crore), says the company which has already orders for 60 vehicles.
The CEO of the company told Canadian TV (CTV) network here that they have successfully test-flown "The Flying Car" as many as 28 times.
The tests have shown that the vehicle can drive, fly and switch from being a plane to a car in just 30 seconds.
"It (testing) has been very successful," Carl Dietrich, co-founder and CEO of Terrafugia, told the television network.
He said: " We have got a very good handling vehicle and our test pilot said that the flights were just remarkably unremarkable - it just flies like a really nice, little airplane."
He said this miracle vehicle will ease problems for pilots who currently face problems like weather which sometimes doesn't allow them to take off or land.
"This vehicle allows a pilot any time, if the weather changes, to divert to the nearest airport, fold up their wings and drive safely under the weather."
Company vice president Richard Gersh told media: "The Transition (the name for "The Flying Car") is not designed to replace the automobile. However, it will solve transportation issues for a variety of circumstances."
Asked whether the vehicle will be mass produced one day, he said: "That is certainly a possibility, but a number of years away."
He said the vehicle will be able travel on ordinary roads.
"Our depositors represent a wide-cross section in terms of age, interests, and intended use of the vehicle. We have deposits from both experienced pilots and non-pilots who intend to earn their Sport Pilot certificate," said the vice president of Terrafugia.
Set up in 2006, Terrafugia is run by trained aeronautical engineers and MBAs from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) is a growing business segment and is expected to generate an income of $640 million by the year 2011. The industry is also expected to be the fastest growing outsourcing business, according to a report released by the research agency.
The findings based on ValueNotes maintains that India is expected to have a major share in this forecasted revenue from LPO, which will also open huge employment opportunities in India.
"LPOs are seen as a more stable career option than opportunities in the mainstream IT and ITeS sector.
Unlike other segments in outsourcing, the LPO segment has seen a robust growth even during recessionary times, thus providing a stable career option," said Lokendra Tomar, Chief Operating Officer, Asia-Pacific, Integreon, a LPO firm.
The LPO industry will be generating employment opportunities for all the lawyersincluding lawyers, graduates, freshers and MBAs.
