* RMZ Foundation strengthening cross-culture dialogue through long-term patronage of contemporary artistic voices
Himali Singh Soin and David Soin Tappeser, known as the multi-media performance artist duo Hylozoic/Desires, participate in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia that was curated by Koyo Kouoh. The exhibition will preview from 6-8 May 2026 and open to the public from 9 May to 22 November 2026.
RMZ Foundation announces its support for the artists’ participation, alongside Avtar Foundation and Foundation Henraux.
Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious platforms for contemporary art globally, La Biennale di Venezia stands at the forefront of research and promotion of artists whose practices and research shape critical cultural dialogues across geographies. The invitation extended to Himali Singh Soin and David Soin Tappeser by the late event curator Koyo Kuoh, reflects the growing international recognition of the multidisciplinary approach to contemporary art.
Sharing her thoughts on the artists’ invitation to Biennale Arte 2026, Anu Menda, Chair, RMZ Foundation said, “The 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia by Koyo Kouoh represents one of the most influential platforms for contemporary artistic exchange. At RMZ Foundation, we believe in drawing India’s most varied expressions, from craft traditions to global stages, allowing artists to grow, experiment, and engage through platforms like Venice. Our continued association with Himali Singh Soin and David Soin Tappeser reflects this philosophy of sustained engagement. We are looking forward to their work being realized at the Biennale, which will contribute to fostering dialogue across cultural and geographic boundaries.”
RMZ Foundation has been closely engaged with the artists’ work. Most recently, the Foundation supported Salt Lines, Himali Singh Soin and David Soin’s first institutional solo exhibition in India presented at Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Musuem, Mumbai. This continued association underscores RMZ Foundation’s commitment to expand public access, strengthen cultural exchange, and support practices that reimagine the cultural landscapes across borders.
About RMZ Foundation:
RMZ Foundation is a contemporary art institution founded in 2015 by Anu Menda, built on the premise that art belongs in the world, not apart from it. Over the past decade, the Foundation has collected several sculptural works by leading Indian and international artists, spanning 6+ cities in India, alongside a track record of international placements. These works are embedded within the built environment, extending art into everyday life.
The Foundation’s programme extends beyond collection-building to institutional partnerships, long-term investment in emerging artistic practices, including a focused commitment to women artists, and institutional collaborations. Ecosystem leadership anchors its approach, enabling it to nurture diverse artistic expressions and position them within global cultural discourse. With an intentional focus on expanding artistic opportunities, the Foundation is an institution that claims it’s place at the centre of India’s cultural conversation.
In its next phase, RMZ Foundation is consolidating a multi-city institutional framework that aligns curatorial depth, public engagement, and cross-cultural exchange, shaping how contemporary art is experienced, produced, and understood.
About the artists:
Hylozoic/Desires (Himali Singh Soin & David Soin Tappeser) is a multi-media performance duo whose work combines experimental poetry and original music in order to conjure Borgesian, speculative futures and multiverses. H/D aspire toward a flat ontological ether in which all forms of life—stone, spirit, machine or human—are equal. They skew the linear imagination of time and space to produce divergences that elicit wonder. H/D’s research orbits around (non)place and history as a way to learn from the multiple materialities of contemporary existence. They are concerned with the (poly)rhythms of love and the bea(s)t of belonging. Hylozoic/Desires use metaphors as an event, as a force of attraction capable of binding disparate entities, temporalities, and ontologies.
