GITAM University Honors 1218 Graduates At Its 15th Annual Convocation Ceremony



GITAM Deemed-to-be-University marked a milestone in its academic calendar with its 15th annual convocation ceremony held today at its Bengaluru campus. The event celebrated the achievements of 1218 graduating students from GITAM.

Present on the occasion were Mr. Sudhanshu Mani, the Visionary Engineer of Vande Bharat Express, Shri M Sribharat, President of GITAM (Deemed to be) University, and  Prof. Dayananda Siddavattam, Vice-Chancellor, GITAM (Deemed to be) University. 

Gold medals were awarded to outstanding students, acknowledging their exceptional academic performances and contributions, from different domains, including Technology, Science, and Management. Additionally, honorary doctorates were awarded to Ms. Leela Samson, renowned dancer and Padma Shri recipient, and Mr. Anand Malligavad, the "Lakeman of India" known for his water conservation efforts.

Shri M. Sribharat highlighted the importance of a student-centric approach, stating, "At GITAM, we are committed to providing a 360-degree learning experience. Our mission is to create an environment where students can find their ikigai, pursue ground-breaking research, and emerge as compassionate, skilled professionals ready to make a difference in the world. I encourage each and every student to embrace all available opportunities, challenge the status quo, and strive to be the innovators and leaders who will drive positive change in our society."

Mr. Sudhanshu Mani, emphasized the importance of transcending traditional education, stating, "In an era where modern skills buttressed by cross-cultural competence are paramount, the future demands a workforce adept in these areas. Educational institutions must prioritize fostering this ability in their students to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world. Education is not just about acquiring knowledge but also about applying it to solve real-world challenges. GITAM’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in this background is commendable."

Prof. Dayananda Siddavattam highlighted the university's commitment to being an exceptional knowledge-driven institution. He commented, "Our vision is for GITAM to be an exceptional knowledge-driven institution. Through initiatives like the Multidisciplinary Unit of Research on Translational Initiatives (MURTI), we encourage multi-disciplinary collaborations to address pressing global challenges. Today’s graduates are a testament to our commitment to excellence in education and research."
