Sony India today announced the WH-1000XM6 wireless noise cancelling headphones – latest edition of its award winning 1000X series that set a new standard for premium audio and personal listening experiences. Building on the legacy of the 1000X series, this latest model combines premium sound with the best noise cancelling[1] in a seamless design to create an unparalleled audio solution for music lovers, fashionistas, travellers and professionals alike.

The next evolution in noise cancellation

Powered by advanced processor and an adaptive microphone system, noise cancelling is optimised in real time on the WH-1000XM6 so your world stays undisturbed and your sound stays pure. With processor speeds seven times faster than its predecessor, the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 fine-tunes 12 microphones, which is 1.5 times more than its precursor the WH-1000XM5, in real time, delivering a dramatic leap in noise cancelling and sound quality. The precise detection of the twelve optimally places microphones allow the noise cancellation to adapt more precisely to fit you and your environment. Whether you are looking to block out noise on a busy commute or stay focused in the office, your sound experience will be seamless and powerful.

Sony’s new Adaptive NC Optimiser delivers unmatched noise cancelling precision – adjusting to any form of external noise and air pressure. Plus, the specially designed driver unit is optimally tuned for enhanced noise cancellation.

Auto Ambient Sound mode is even better at adapting to your surroundings in real time, balancing music and external sound. Multiple microphones filter noise or let in what matters: announcements, conversations, or the world around you. Adjust settings automatically or fine-tune them manually in the Sony | Sound Connect app.

Premium sound, co-created with the masters

The WH-1000X6 headphones allow you to hear your music as it was meant to be. Developed in collaboration with world-renowned mastering engineers at three of the industry top recording studios, Sterling Sound, Battery Studios and Coast Mastering the WH-1000XM6 refines every note for studio-level accuracy, delivering a superior music experience.

The WH-1000XM6 are engineered to perfection with the specially designed driver unit delivering clarity that feels almost tangible, and every detail comes through with precision.

The high rigidity carbon fibre composite material dome and uniquely developed voice coil structure bring out the subtleties in every frequency—so vocals sound richer, instruments feel more defined, and every track carries more emotion.

The HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 features an advanced look-ahead noise shaper for improved D/A conversion, allowing the WH-1000XM6 to predict and optimize quantization noise while responding quickly to sudden sound changes. This gives you clearer details, richer bass and a more natural listening experience.

The WH-1000XM6 supports the High-Resolution Audio and High-Resolution Audio Wireless, thanks to LDAC, Sony’s industry-adopted audio coding technology[2]. In addition, using Edge-AI, DSEE Extreme™ upscales compressed digital music files in real time to restore high range sound lost in compression.

The Sony | Sound Connect app makes it even easier to fine tune your entertainment experience on the WH-1000XM6. When listening to music, you can dial in the perfect sound with the 10-band EQ, or create a spacious feel with Background Music Effect. Gamers can also enjoy the Game EQ, developed with Sony’s expertise from its INZONE range to enhance sound quality for FPS gaming. For those watching movies on the go, the WH-1000XM6 also feature 360 Reality Audio Upmix for Cinema that brings spatial sound experience just like you are in a movie theatre from 2ch stereo sound by Sony’s unique upmix and 360 Spatial Sound technology.

Always be heard with the Ultra clear call quality

The WH-1000XM6 allows you to enjoy clarity in every call. Intelligent beamforming isolates your voice from background noise, so you are always heard even when others are talking. If you need to mute[3] you can do it instantly, via the button right on your headphones.

With the advanced six-microphone AI- based beamforming system, the WH-1000XM6 homes in on your voice while filtering out background noise, so every word comes through crystal clear even in chaotic environments.

The AI- optimised noise reduction algorithm suppresses background sound while isolating your voice. Beamforming microphones and precise voice pickup technology ensuring every word is heard clearly.

Masterfully crafted for all-day comfort

The familiar iconic design of the WH-1000X series has been taken to the next level with an elegant, soft fit wider headband infused with vegan leather ensuring a pressure-free fit. The asymmetrical headband design makes it easy to identify the left and right side with just a glance.

The earpads are designed for all-day wear thanks to stretchable material that provides a secure yet gentle fit to reduce pressure whilst blocking external noise.

Plus, the intuitive controls allow you to easily switch between noise cancelling, ambient sound and mic mute with tactile buttons and a responsive touch panel.

Inspired by products with handcrafted precision workmanship, the folding mechanism on the WH-1000XM6 is crafted using advance metal injection for a seamless durable fold, while designed to slip seamlessly into bags and airplane pockets. The compact case now features a magnetic closure for easy access.

More Intuitive, Smarter than ever

With WH-1000XM6 you can experience Scene-based Listening, a new intuitive feature that uses sensing technology to automatically play music according to your activity and adjust noise cancellation level based on your environment and location. Along with Quick Access and Scene-based Listening, you can effortlessly connect to the top music service including Amazon Music (via "Amazon Music Play Now")[4], Apple Music[5], Spotify (via "Spotify Tap")[6] and YouTube Music[7].

The WH-1000XM6 is ready for LE Audio, delivering ultra-low latency for flawless gaming and effortless access to broadcasts with Auracast™[8], with exceptional sound quality. The Multi-Point and Auto Switch makes switching between devices seamless, so you are always connected without interruption.

On the go? Even quicker charging is possible, with three minutes giving you up to three hours of charge[9]

Made with the environment in mind

Sony has designed these headphones with the environment in mind. The WH-1000XM6 packaging is made from 100% paper materials. We continue to advance the adoption of Sony’s proprietary paper, Original Blended Material, for the packaging of our flagship headphone model, the 1000X series (the WF-1000XM5, WF-1000XM4, WH-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM6). IN-SPACe Model Rocketry/CANSAT India Student Competition 2024-25 To Take Place In Uttar Pradesh From October 27-30, 2025

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe), in association with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Astronautical Society of India (ASI), has announced the national-level Model Rocketry/CANSAT India Student Competition 2024-25, with the grand finale scheduled to take place on the banks of the Narayani River at Tumkuhiraj, Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, from October 27–30, 2025.

The competition aims to provide students with a hands-on experience in designing, development, and launch of a model rocket that can deploy CANSAT (7U SAT) of 1 kg at 1Km altitude meeting the defined mission objectives. This will provide students opportunity to simulate real-world space missions and will also contribute in nurturing the next generation of Indian space professionals.

A total of 71 student teams, comprising around 600 students, faculty members, and mentors, have qualified for the national finale, with 36 teams in the CANSAT category and 35 teams in Model Rocketry. Participants represent universities and technical institutions from across India.

As part of the outreach leading up to the competition, IN-SPACe along with ISRO had launched the ‘Art-in-Space’ and ‘Space Quiz 20:20’ contests across seven districts of Uttar Pradesh — Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Jaunpur, Bahraich, Bulandshahr, and Gautam Buddha Nagar, witnessing an overwhelming response from nearly 73,000 students. This contest is being executed by Namaskar Foundation. Additionally, to ignite deep interest in Science and Tech amongst the students an “Antariksh Rath” equipped with rockets, satellites, astronaut’s suits and educational models is spreading awareness amongst students. Winners from these contests will be felicitated at the grand finale and will also experience an immersive space habitat module at the event venue.

Shri Shashank Mani, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Deoria said, “It is an honour to host the CANSAT Model Rocket Competition in the Tamkuhi Raj area of Deoria Lok Sabha in Kushinagar District. This competition will excite the imagination of the region and seed a culture of space awareness. It aligns with the mission of Amrit Prayas our 10 year developmental strategy for the Lok Sabha, which seeks to use space technology in this region.”

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Vinod Kumar, Director, Promotion Directorate, IN-SPACe and Executive Secretary, ASI, said, “This competition reflects IN-SPACe’s commitment to fueling experiential learning and students' early engagement with space technology. By giving them real-world challenges to solve, we hope to build a strong foundation for India’s future scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs who will contribute to our growing space economy. The support from the Uttar Pradesh government and Kushinagar district administration has been crucial in bringing this finale to life”

The competition’s mission objectives include the design, development, and launch of a model rocket and CANSAT carrying a 1 kg payload to an altitude of 1 km, followed by safe payload ejection, recovery, and landing. Through these challenges, students gain exposure to the fundamentals of rocketry, payload design, and mission management, along with key soft skills such as teamwork, project coordination, and problem-solving.

The Model Rocketry/CANSAT India Student Competition 2024-25 marks another step in IN-SPACe’s ongoing efforts to promote space education, skill development, and innovation at the grassroots level, aligning with the Government of India’s vision of building a self-reliant, $44 billion space economy by 2033.

Breaking Stigma: Encouraging Open Conversation About Breast Health

DR. R V RAGHUNANDAN, Senior Consultant - Radiation Oncology, HCG MNR Curie Cancer Centre at Ongole

Breast health often remains a silent topic in many Indian homes, a subject wrapped in hesitation and stigma. For caregivers and parents, this silence can be painful, as it may delay crucial awareness and early action that saves lives. Encouraging open conversation about breast health empowers families to break barriers, share knowledge, and protect the women they love. When conversations become normal and supportive, early detection and prevention become possible, offering hope instead of fear.

Why Stigma Holds Women Back

When breast health is wrapped in shame, women hesitate to speak up. In Indian studies, some women expressed fear that others would avoid them, whisper about them, or see them differently if they were known to visit a cancer clinic. In surveys of cancer patients and caregivers, a large majority reported experiencing or internalizing stigma, believing that the community views cancer as a curse, as something contagious, or as a sign of personal failing.
Many women say they “must suffer quietly” and avoid telling even close family about symptoms or fear. These fears often cause delay, avoiding clinical visits, ignoring lumps, or hiding symptoms until disease has advanced.

How Stigma Manifests

  • Silence in the home: Women don’t share symptoms for fear of gossip or shame.

  • Social isolation: Some are excluded from social or religious functions after diagnosis.

  • Household separation: In extreme settings, patients may be asked to use separate utensils or rooms.

  • Fear of judgment: Worries about marriage prospects, community glance, or being seen as “impure” prevent disclosure.

Impact of stigma on breast cancer outcomes

Stigma and silence contribute to delays in noticing symptoms and getting screened. According to Indian health studies, many women discover breast cancer only at advanced stages, when treatment is more complex and less effective. A lack of open dialogue reduces awareness about screening guidelines and self-examination techniques that could detect problems early. Breaking stigma means increasing the chances that women find care before cancer progresses, reducing suffering and saving lives.

How families can encourage open conversations

Parents and caregivers play a vital role in creating a safe space for talks about breast health. Here are ways families can nurture open dialogue:

  • Normalize the topic: Include breast health as part of general health discussions, just like nutrition or exercise.

  • Use simple language: Describe breast anatomy and early warning signs in straightforward, non-medical terms.

  • Show empathy and support: Listen carefully without judgment and reassure your loved ones that seeking care is brave and necessary.

  • Share stories: Real-life examples of women who found cancer early and recovered can motivate others to act.

  • Practice together: Encourage mothers, daughters, and sisters to learn breast self-examination methods as a family activity.

Empowering women with knowledge and screening

Alongside open talks, educating women about the importance of regular self-exams and clinical screenings is essential. Healthcare guidelines recommend monthly self-breast exams from the 20s and clinical breast exams or mammograms, starting at the age 40 or earlier for high-risk women. When families support these practices and accompany women to health check-ups, it reduces fear and stigma around medical visits.

Community and healthcare roles in stigma reduction

Beyond families, community leaders, educators, and healthcare providers must team up to change public attitudes. Awareness campaigns tailored to local languages and culture help dispel myths and encourage dialogue. Training healthcare workers to create welcoming environment for women, seeking breast health advice makes a difference. Expanding accessible screening services in both urban and rural areas ensures that stigma does not translate into inaccessibility.

A New Dawn: Talk Today, Thrive Tomorrow

Stigma around breast health is a heavy, silent burden, one that steals lives by delaying diagnosis and isolating women. But when we break silence, families, communities, and health systems open their voices, fear is removed, bringing support, and creating pathways to care.

To every reader: start the conversation today. Encourage the women you care about to speak, to seek help, to break free from shame. Because health begins with truth, not silence.

Takeaway: Open your home and your voice. Let breast health become a discussion, not a secret. When we talk, we heal.
