International Solar Alliance To Host Eighth Session Of ISA Assembly From 27-30 October In India

The Eighth Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly, scheduled from 27 to 30 October 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, will bring the world together under one Sun, one vision, and one shared commitment to solar energy.

Launched by India and France at COP21 in Paris, ISA is the largest treaty-based intergovernmental organisation from the Global South, bringing together 124 Member and Signatory Countries. This high-level ministerial gathering comes weeks ahead of COP30 in Brazil, shaping priorities for scaling solar energy, unlocking transformative finance, charting technology and policy roadmaps, and building skill ecosystems to accelerate a just and inclusive energy transition.

At the curtain-raiser today, Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Minister of New and Renewable Energy, GoI, & President of the ISA Assembly, said, “Owing to its clear vision and the consistent policies, India achieved its renewable energy targets five years ahead of the schedule, crossing the 50% mark in overall installed electricity capacity from non-fossil resources. Today with approximately 125 GW of solar capacity, India is the world's third largest solar producer. This progress shows how the national ambition can translate to meaningful change at the local level. It is because our success story is more than just numbers; it is about the people. We have seen firsthand how decentralised solar transforms lives, bring light to rural homes, powers local health centres and gives new tools to our farmers. With PM Surya Ghar - Muft Bijli Yojana, more than 20 lakh households are benefiting from solar power.”

He further added, “Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, we are taking this transformation to the heartland of India. The three components of the scheme target the installation of 10 gigawatts of small solar plants; support 1.4 million off-grid solar pumps; and solarise 3.5 million grid-connected agricultural pumps. Together, these efforts are ensuring that clean energy reaches the last mile. It is this combination of scale and inclusiveness that defines India’s energy transition.”

Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, GoI, noted, “Today we are the third largest in solar power, fourth largest in wind power and overall, we are now the third largest renewable energy installation in the world. Additionally, in manufacturing of solar modules we are the second largest after China. Our manufacturing is not only confined to solar modules but also extends to areas like green hydrogen which is a pivotal part of our energy security—and is going ahead as per our goal of manufacturing about 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2031.”

He also noted, “ISA's role in experience sharing, in cross learning and in deploying solar both at scale as well as at a distributed level has been commendable and I compliment the partner countries who have collaborated within the framework of ISA for expansion of solar energy in their respective countries. We remain committed to continue this collaboration in future and in a variety of ways through both financial support as well as technical support which we have been extending to ISA.  We also wish to see how it can be scaled up in other countries. Some of the deployment experiments in Africa have shown encouraging results. Given India’s success in deploying solar energy at both utility and distributed levels—through household and farm-level initiatives such as the PM Surya Ghar - Muft Bijli Yojana, which aims to solarise 10 million households, and the PM-KUSUM scheme for farm-level solarisation—India is ready to partner with other countries in implementing similar initiatives.”

Mr Ashish Khanna, Director General of ISA said, “Global renewable energy is at an inflection point. It took oil 25 years to reach 1,000 GW — renewables doubled that in just two years. For the first time, renewable generation has surpassed fossil generation. This is a decisive moment for the Global South to lead. The coming decade must be defined not only by ambition but by tangible action. In this new energy landscape, ISA is emerging as a platform of aggregation—convening nations for collective action to drive large-scale solar deployment. Our vision is to accelerate this momentum by moving from commitments to concrete projects, from dialogue to delivery, and from potential to measurable impact—ensuring solar truly becomes the foundation of a sustainable and inclusive future.”

Recalling Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision at the first ISA Assembly in 2018, Mr Khanna emphasised ISA’s role in enhancing solar deployment through aggregation, harmonising technology standards, enabling data-driven energy planning, supporting research and innovation, and advancing One Sun, One World, One Grid (OSOWOG). He highlighted India’s potential to become the “Silicon Valley for Solar” with the establishment of the Global Capability Centre (GCC), linked with STAR-C hubs worldwide for technical support, digital tools, and training.    

The Eighth Session of the ISA Assembly will focus on four strategic pillars: Catalytic Finance Hub; Global Capability Centre & Digitisation; Regional & Country-Level Engagement; and Technology Roadmap & Policy. Ministerial and technical sessions will explore actionable priorities, including advancing catalytic finance through the Africa Solar Facility, strengthening country partnerships through the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Platform, a dedicated initiative to support SIDS in accelerating solar energy deployment through finance, technology, and capacity-building partnerships. and scaling innovation via floating solar, AI and digitisation, OSOWOG, green hydrogen, and standards and testing and solar for agriculture, underscoring ISA’s shift from ambition to action.

The Assembly will also see the release of ISA’s flagship reports—Ease of Doing Solar 2025 and Solar Trends 2025—outlining global progress and pathways to scale solar deployment.

Ahead of the Assembly, ISA convened Regional Committee Meetings across its four regions: Europe & Others in Brussels (10–12 June), Asia-Pacific in Colombo (15–17 July), Latin America & the Caribbean in Santiago (4–6 August), and Africa in Accra (2–4 September). These meetings, attended by representatives from over 100 countries, reviewed progress, addressed challenges, and aligned regional initiatives with ISA’s global priorities. Recommendations on catalytic finance, innovation partnerships, and solarisation for energy access will feed into the Assembly’s deliberations and outcomes.

Union Minister For AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav Highlights Mind-Heart Connection For Holistic Health At IHW Conference 2025

Heartfulness Institute hosts 3rd International Integrative Health and Wellbeing Conference, uniting leading experts in medicine, yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation to advance evidence-based integrative care at Kanha Shanti Vanam, the world’s largest meditation center and global headquarters of Heartfulness.

The third edition of the International IHW (Integrative Health and Wellbeing) Conference 2025 which kickstarted on 10th October 2025, is in full swing with significant keynote address and panel discussions aligned with the theme of the conference viz., ‘Mind-Body Medicine for Cardiac Health, Lifestyle and Mental Wellbeing’. Eminent dignitaries from the field of medicine, yoga, ayurveda and meditation; policy-makers, educators, researchers, community champions, lifestyle researchers came together at one platform brought by Ministry of AYUSH, AIIMS (New Delhi), ICMR NITM (National Institute of Traditional Medicine), ITRA (Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda) and Heartfulness Institute. Shri Prataprao Jadhav – Hon’ble Minister for AYUSH, Govt. of India, graced the occasion as Chief Guest of Honour respectively.

The purpose of the conference is to integrate modern and traditional health approaches in a systematic and scientific manner; improve prevention and management of chronic diseases through holistic and evidence-based strategies; and promote a comprehensive model of health that addresses physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of wellbeing.

The inaugural session began with Heartfulness meditation followed by welcome address by Dr Krishnamurthy Jayanna, Chair, Heartfulness Research Council. In his speech Shri Prataprao Jadhav – Hon’ble Minister for AYUSH, Govt. of India said, “The IHW 2025 is confluence of major streams for holistic wellness bringing meaningful and relevant discussions and deliberations on holistic health. The serenity of Kanha Shanti Vanam is exemplary for a perfect ecosystem. Our traditional medicine is self-sustaining with no side-effects. The modern lifestyle related health problems can be dealt with the right interventions such as adopting traditional wisdom of yoga and meditation as postulated by Maharshi Patanjali. Under the aegis of Ministry of AYUSH the ‘Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan’ based on the Ayurvedic principles in helping adopt a healthy lifestyle, building a healthy society and a healthy nation. The success of the mission has at its core digital healthcare access to every citizen of India. Hon’ble PM Modiji believes that access to universal healthcare is access to justice. Indian traditional knowledge is being recognized all over the world and there is growing awareness on the same. Govt. of India is establishing AYUSH hospitals across the country. Dr. M. Srinivas, Director, AIIMS New Delhi; Dr Tanuja Nesari, Director, ITRA, Jamnagar; Dr Kashinath Samagandi, Director, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) shared their thoughts on the relevance of the conference. The Keynote Address on ‘Cardiac Health and Disease in India and its relationship with wellbeing’ was delivered by Dr. Srinath Reddy, Founder President and Honorary Distinguished Professor, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).

Five scientific sessions with panel discussions by clinical experts were the other highlights. The first session ‘Advancing evidence-based integrative medicine’ focussed on Research Methods in Integrative Medicine. Key considerations, and perspectives, and Reversal of Heart Disease in clinical practice by Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary to Government of India, Department of Health Research & Director; and Reversal of Heart Disease in clinical practice by Dr Bimal Chhajer, CEO, MD, SAAOL Health Pvt Ltd. India.

The second session viz, ‘Integrative pathways for cardiac health’ emphasised on Integrative care, Ayurveda and Yoga for cardiac health. The key panellists were Dr Gautam Sharma, Professor, Dept. of Cardiology & Head, Center for Integrative Medicine & Research, AIIMS, New Delhi; Dr Rama Jayasundar, Dept. of NMR & MRI Facility, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi; and Dr Kashinath Samagandi, Director, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY).

The third session on  ‘Lifestyle, yoga and cardiac health’ had Dr Jagannath Dixit, Professor, B J Medical College, Pune who spoke on Prevention of Obesity while Dr Arpan A Bhatt, Professor and Head, Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), INI, Jamnagar, Gujarat talked on the Role of Yoga in Cardiac Health and Wellbeing.

The ‘Mind-heart connections in health and wellbeing’ as the fourth session had panel discussions on Ayurveda’s perspective of the mind, Stress, HRV and Cardiac Wellbeing, Impact of Heartfulness Practices in Stress and Anxiety in Students, MRI Studies on Children with Intuitive Skills, and Heartfulness practices for wellbeing – A synthesis of emerging evidence. The key panellists were Dr Hitesh Vyas, Professor, Dept. of Samhitha Siddhanta, ITRA; Dr Rahul Mehrotra, Chief, Non-Invasive & Clinical Cardiology, Artemis Hospitals, Gurugram; Dr Mansee Thakur, Director, MGMSBS, MGM Institute of Health Sciences, Navi Mumbai; Dr Senthil Kumaran, Professor, AIIMS, Delhi; and Dr Jayaram Thimmapuram, Director Heartfulness Research, Academic Hospitalist, Internal Medicine, WellSpan York Hospital respectively.

The final session of the day was on ‘Integrative approaches in acute and critical cardiac care’ where the topics discussed were Heart, Mind, Meditation: The Vision of Ayurveda & its role in integration of care & management by Dr Shankar Prasad, Director of SIVAS Health and Research Institute, Secunderabad; and Dr Rupa Salwan, Senior Director - Myocardial Infarction Program and Senior Consultant -  Cardiology & Interventional Cardiology MSSH (East) Saket.

100 Cancer Survivors Clock 5 Crore Steps In 100 Days As Apollo Hospitals Hosts Saree Run In Bengaluru

·         The Saree Run, flagged off by Sowmya Reddy, a prominent woman leader in Karnataka, saw around 1000 participants including 100 breast cancer winners

·         Held as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event spotlighted the importance of early detection while celebrating the courage and resilience of cancer winners

Apollo Hospitals, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, hosted the third edition of the Saree Run, an empowering community event that celebrates breast cancer winners and raises awareness about early detection and prevention.

This year’s event saw participation from over 1,000 individuals, including 100 breast cancer winners. The run marked the culmination of a 100-day fitness challenge, during which the cancer winners collectively clocked 5 crore steps, a milestone symbolising their collective journey of resilience, recovery, hope, and advocacy for breast cancer awareness

Participants completed a spirited 3.5 km run in traditional sarees, a symbolic gesture reflecting identity, dignity, and strength. The event was flagged off by Ms. Sowmya Reddy, Former MLA of Jayanagar and President, Karnataka State Mahila Congress, who lauded Apollo Hospitals for championing women’s health and creating platforms that normalise open conversations around breast cancer.

“The Saree Run is not just a celebration, it’s a movement that brings visibility to the fight against breast cancer. It reminds us that awareness towards self-care, health, timely screening, and community support can transform outcomes. Seeing hundreds of women run in sarees with such spirit is a powerful statement of strength, resilience, solidarity and power of women of our country,” said Ms. Reddy in her inaugural address.

Leading the clinical efforts behind the event is Dr. Jayanti Thumsi, Senior Consultant and Lead Surgeon, Breast Oncology, Apollo Hospitals, who has personally treated a significant number of the participants, said, “Every step these women took represents courage and defiance against fear, stigma, and uncertainty. Completing 5 crore steps is not just a physical feat; it’s a declaration that life after cancer is full of purpose and vitality. Their resilience inspires patients, doctors, and society alike to believe that breast cancer can be overcome with the right care and early detection.”

Now in its third year, the Saree Run has become a cornerstone of Apollo Hospitals' breast cancer advocacy initiatives in Karnataka. It serves not only as a celebration of cancer winners but also as a platform for community participation and education on early detection and treatment.

AI-Led R&D, Future-Ready Skills, And Smart Manufacturing Take Center Stage On Day 2 Of CII INNOVERGE 2025

The 21st edition of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) flagship India Innovation Summit – CII INNOVERGE 2025 concluded today at The Taj West End, Bengaluru, with a focus on strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem through AI-led R&D, skill development, and advanced manufacturing. Delivering the Special Address, Dr Selvakumar S, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Commerce & Industries, Government of Karnataka, highlighted the pivotal role of research, innovation clusters, and public-private partnerships in strengthening India’s R&D capabilities. He emphasized that Karnataka continues to anchor the nation’s innovation landscape through progressive policies, strategic investments in technology infrastructure, and a robust academic ecosystem. “Karnataka is at the forefront of India’s innovation journey, transforming talent into intellectual property. With initiatives like industry-led ITIs under the PM Setu scheme, an AI-driven Skill Connect Portal linking talent with industry demand, and programs such as Nanavritti Nanna Ika, Kalika Jotege Kaushalya, and CM Kaushalya Karnataka Yojana, we are making skilling aspirational, inclusive, and aligned with emerging sectors like green, digital, and creative industries."

 

Mr Kamal Bali, Past Chairman, CII Southern Region; Chairman, CII India INNOVERGE 2025 & President & Managing Director, Volvo Group India, in his opening remarks, highlighted the transformative role of collaboration between government, industry, and academia in shaping India’s next decade of innovation. Partnership is the future of leadership — we must move from an obsession with competition to an obsession with collaboration. In a thought-provoking fireside discussion titled “Innovation and Strategy in Warfare – Operation Sindoor”, Maj Gen Ravi Murugan (Retd), PVSM, AVSM, shed light on how the Indian Army’s technological preparedness, AI integration, and innovation mindset shaped modern warfare and national security strategy. Reflected on how technology has always been — and remains — the key driver of the battlefield. He underlined the value of curiosity, data-driven learning, and the need for India to accelerate advancements in defence manufacturing to stay ahead in an evolving global landscape.

The 7th edition of Windergy India 2025, the exclusive international trade fair and conference for the wind energy sector in the country, is scheduled to take place this October from 29-31 at the Chennai Trade Centre. Conference Agenda

Alongside the mega trade fair, which will unveil a formidable lineup of over 350 international and national exhibitors, the event also features high-powered panel discussions and roundtables on 29 and 30 October, presented by eminent industry professionals.

 

Themed ‘Wind Power: Policies and Partnerships Towards Aatmanirbharta’, the event promises an insightful conference designed to energise the sector and spark meaningful dialogue.

 

Day 1 features the Tulsi R. Tanti Memorial Lecture on ‘The Road to Energy Self-Sufficiency and Net Zero: The Strategic Role of Wind’, followed by a high-level Government Policy & Regulatory Panel exploring the pathway to achieving 100 GW of wind power by 2030. Govt Initiatives

The Government of India has been strategically making reforms and proactively promoting the wind energy sector. The recent initiative by the GST council to reduce taxes on wind energy equipment from 12% to 5% has given a tremendous boost to the sector.

The move encourages growth, affordability and innovation in the wind energy industry, and brings the country closer to its climate and energy security goals. With positive trends and staunch support from the Government, India's target of achieving 150 GW is well within reach.

N Thangaraja continues hot streak by registering third victory of the season at Bengaluru Open 2025 Powered by IndianOil

Sri Lankan N Thangaraja continued his hot streak by bagging his second title in four weeks and third trophy of the season following his resolute final round performance of two-under 69 at the INR 1 crore Bengaluru Open 2025 Powered by IndianOil played at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) course in Bengaluru.

Thangaraja (66-65-66-69) came home the champion by a two-shot margin at a total of 18-under 266 to secure his seventh professional win.

The 44-year-old from Colombo picked up the winning cheque worth INR 15 lakh that took his season’s earnings to INR 82,22,088. Thanga as a result consolidated himself in third position in the PGTI Order of Merit as he came within INR 6.45 lakh of the merit list leader Yuvraj Sandhu.

Manu Gandas (70-63-69-66) of Gurugram finished runner-up at 16-under 268 after he posted a 66 on the last day.

Bengaluru-based Rahil Gangjee shot the final day’s best score of 64 to claim tied third place at 13-under 271 along with Saptak Talwar who carded a 67 on day four.

Seventeen-year-old rookie Manoj S (66) of Bengaluru took fifth place at 12-under 272.

Delhi’s Arjun Prasad (70) finished tied 15th at seven-under 277. Arjun continued in second place on PGTI’s money list and also closed the gap with PGTI Ranking leader Yuvraj Sandhu to nearly INR 2.5 lakh.

N Thangaraja, enjoying a commanding five-shot lead heading into the final round, had a mixed front-nine where he made a birdie and bogey each. On the back-nine, Manu Gandas began to pose a serious challenge to the leader with four birdies till the 15th.

However, Thangaraja rose to the occasion with three straight birdies from the 11th to the 13th courtesy a great approach and an accurate tee shot that kept him ahead of the pack. Thanga’s bogey on the 14th couldn’t derail his round as the seasoned campaigner closed out the tournament with pars on the last four holes.

Thangaraja, who had recorded a win and a runner-up finish on the PGTI in the past three weeks, said, “I feel my game turned around after I changed the grip on my putter ahead of the Chennai event. Since then, my putting has just taken off. I’ve been very consistent with my putting over the last four weeks which in turn produced the desired results for me.

“I was focused and relaxed through the day today despite the likes of Manu making a charge and closing the gap with me on the back-nine. I didn’t really feel pressure and just played like I had played in the previous three rounds.

“I’m happy that I have been getting better with every passing week. These are good signs for me in the lead up to the DP World India Championship in Delhi next week, a tournament where I’m very keen to perform well and make a mark.”

Noida’s Kanav Chauhan (72), the only amateur to make the cut, took the trophy for the best performing amateur. He finished tied 33rd at even-par 284.

Panchkula’s Brijesh Kumar made a hole-in-one on the 15th during his last round of 76. He finished 49th at 12-over 296.
