Medtronic And Philips Partner To Upskill 300+ Clinicians In Structural Heart Imaging In India


Medtronic, a leader in medical technology and Philips, a leader in health technology announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in India, to educate and train cardiologists and radiologists on advanced imaging techniques for structural heart diseases. This partnership aims to upskill 300+ clinicians in multi-modality imaging such as echocardiography (echo) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), especially for End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients.

The training program will combine didactic sessions with hands-on experience delivered on Philips’ cutting-edge ultrasound and MRI systems, under the guidance of renowned international and Indian experts. 15 key medical institutions have been identified specializing in structural heart procedures for these educational workshops.

Medtronic transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) system recently celebrated a significant milestone: 20 years since its first-in-human procedure in 2004. Philips's AI-driven software, capable of analyzing aortic anatomy using data obtained from 3D transesophageal echocardiography (3D TEE) and MRI, eliminates the need for radiopaque contrast agents. This innovation is particularly advantageous for safeguarding kidney health, as contrast agents can be nephrotoxic and pose a significant risk of further deteriorating kidney function in ESRD patients. By enabling clinicians to use alternate imaging approaches, the partnership will significantly improve both the duration and quality of life for these patients.

In line with its ongoing commitment to community well-being and giving it back to the society, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the inauguration of water purification units in Mysore district. The event was marked by the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Member, Karnataka Vidhana Parishath along with senior TKM leadership Mr. Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer, Senior Vice President & Head State Affairs - Toyota Kirloskar Motor, acknowledging the transformative impact of this initiative.

With a commitment to ensuring access to safe and hygienic drinking water, enhancing public health, and preventing waterborne diseases, TKM has installed state-of-the-art water purification units in Mysore district for the fiscal year 2024-25. With this latest deployment, these installations benefit and positively impact over 3,98,870 people significantly improving community well-being.

Each unit features an advanced six-stage purification process along with a real-time water monitoring system that tracks key parameters such as Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and caters to the need of the community where water is contaminated with high TDS.  Additionally, the system is equipped with solar power, backup power solutions, for uninterrupted usage and an efficient wastewater management mechanism, ensuring optimal water dispensing while minimizing energy consumption. With this latest initiative, a total of 7500 ltrs/hour water purification capacity is developed to cater to the community needs.

TKM’s collaboration with local Grama Panchayats and the community has been instrumental in fostering a sense of ownership and shared responsibility, further strengthening the initiative’s impact and its continued sustainability and promotion of better sanitation practices and overall well-being across communities.

Henkel Strengthens Its Electronics Footprint In India With Application Engineering Center And Manufacturing Expansion


Henkel has announced the launch of a state-of-the-art Application Engineering Center in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, further strengthening the leadership of its Adhesive Technologies business in the electronics sector. The company will also be setting up an adhesive materials manufacturing plant for the electronics sector at its multi-technology manufacturing site in Kurkumbh, near Pune. These investments underscore Henkel’s commitment to localization, innovation, and accelerated product development to meet the rapidly evolving demands of the region’s electronics industry. As India's electronics industry is projected to grow exponentially in the next few years, fuelled by government initiatives such as Make in India and PLI (Production-Linked Incentive) schemes, Henkel’s expanded footprint positions it to strongly support this rapid growth.

Equipped with state-of-the-art dispensing systems, vacuum impregnation technologies for device waterproofing, and high-precision material analysis tools, the center enables rapid prototyping, proof-of-concept testing, and product validation. This center will enhance Henkel’s global innovation footprint, complementing its existing sites in Germany, the US, China, Singapore, Japan, Korea and Vietnam.  With these investments, Henkel further strengthens its role as a key innovation partner for electronics manufacturers worldwide.

VIMS&RC And Intuitive Collaborate To Expand Access To Robotic-Assisted Surgery For Future Surgeons With I-ROPE

Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bangalore, a leading institution in multi-specialty tertiary care, has joined hands with Intuitive, a global technology leader in minimally invasive care and the pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery (RAS), to introduce resident surgeons to robotic-assisted surgical technology through the Intuitive Robotic Onboarding Program and Education (I-ROPE). This initiative marks the introduction of I-ROPE in a private hospital in India, providing surgical oncology postgraduate trainees with exposure to robotic-assisted surgery and its clinical applications.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. L K Atheeq, IAS Additional Chief Secretary to ?M Government of Karnataka, in an event held at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Whitefield, Bengaluru. Dr. UT Iftikhar Ali Fareed, Chairman of the Allied & Healthcare Council of Karnataka, Dr.Riyaz Basha S M.D, Registrar [Evaluation] Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, and Dr. Kalpaja D A, Chairperson-Vydehi Group of Institutions, were also present at the event.

At Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, the program is being conducted using the state-of-the-art da Vinci surgical system, providing residents hands-on familiarity with one of the most advanced robotic-assisted surgical platforms available today.

Despite the increasing adoption of robotic-assisted surgery worldwide, exposure to this technology remains limited within traditional surgical training programs in India. This collaboration between Intuitive and Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre aims to bridge this gap by integrating robotic-assisted surgery into early-stage surgical exposure, to help prepare future surgeons for evolving medical practices.

Since the inception of the I-ROPE program, around 350 resident surgeons have participated in it, gaining exposure to robotic-assisted surgical technology.
