The Department of E, IT, Bt Government of Karnataka, under its Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) initiative, hosted the GIA Meet today to promote the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2024 (BTS 2024) to its Global Innovation Alliance partner countries & international trade mission representatives. The Meet, held in Bengaluru, was graced by Shri Priyank Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Bt, and Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Government of Karnataka. The Consul Generals of GIA countries along with Heads of International Trade Missions & different provinces of these countries participated in the event including Australia, Denmark, Israel, Japan, Switzerland, the USA, the UK, Poland, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy & many more. Shri Darshan H.V, IAS, Director, Dept. of Electronics, IT, Bt, and Managing Director, KITS, Govt. of Karnataka set the tone for the GIA Meet, detailed presentation on the event was provided by Dr. Ekroop Caur, IAS, Secretary to Government, Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Govt. of Karnataka, and Ms. Ruchi Bindal, IAS, Deputy Secretary, Dept. of E, IT, Bt Govt. of Karnataka concluded the event.

The Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) is an initiative of the Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology, and Government of Karnataka. The platform aims to create partnerships with leading countries in the field of technology and innovation. This programme was conceptualized in 2017 under the Karnataka Unit for International Co-operation (KUIC), and the GIA partners have grown exponentially, from 10 countries in 2018 to 30+ countries in 2024. The GIA Meet aimed to strengthen international cooperation, foster innovation, and invite global participation in the upcoming BTS 2024 scheduled from November 19-21, 2024, at the iconic

Bangalore Palace.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Bt, and Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Government of Karnataka emphasized the importance of Bengaluru and Karnataka as a global hub for technology collaboration. He stated, “Bengaluru is not just the tech capital of India but also a globally recognized center for innovation, research, and technology-driven growth. The Bengaluru Tech Summit has been a catalyst in bringing together the brightest minds from around the world to exchange ideas and foster innovation. I urge our Global Innovation Alliance partners to include BTS 2024 in their event calendar and actively participate, contributing to the growth of our shared technology future. Karnataka continues to be the destination of choice for technology collaboration, and we look forward to welcoming our GIA Partner countries to explore opportunities and drive innovation together.”

International partners were invited to bring their country delegations, including both ministerial, academic, R&D and corporate representatives, participate in the exhibition by setting up country pavilions to showcase their technological capabilities, hold meetings with representatives from various nations, and conduct focused sessions under the Global Collaboration Track in the conference.

Echoing the message from Shri Kharge, Dr. Ekroop Caur, Secretary to Government, Department of E, IT, Bt, and S&T, Government of Karnataka said, “GIA has been a key pillar in promoting Karnataka’s status as a global innovation hub, fostering partnerships with over 30 countries worldwide. Through these partnerships, Karnataka has successfully established itself as a vibrant centre for technology and innovation, creating a conducive environment for startups, entrepreneurs, and global corporations alike. The GIA Meet marks the start of global outreach efforts to ensure robust international participation in this as well as the future editions of Bengaluru Tech Summit.”

Dr. Ekroop Caur presented an overview of the event along with new GIA initiatives which will be tailored to the requirements of the partner countries. She spoke about how the Government of Karnataka is actively enhancing its global engagement through several key initiatives aimed at fostering international collaboration for the state's vibrant startup ecosystem. The Global Innovation Alliance Market Access Programme (GIA MAP) has successfully facilitated physical exploratory visits for growth-stage Karnataka startups to five countries—UAE, Singapore, Belgium, Australia, and Germany—across various tech segments, supporting 42 startups. Notably, the recent edition in North Rhine Westphalia, Germany, announced a Welcome Package offering €10,000 in financial support to Karnataka-based startups. In addition, the GIA Mixer, a monthly event launched in August 2024, focuses on promoting collaboration with a new country each month, with the pilot edition featuring DeepTech and Fintech startups pitching to Australian counterparts. Furthering its commitment to nurturing innovation, the Department is in discussions with the UK’s Catapult Network and Paris’s Station F incubator to bolster Karnataka’s Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and support the growth of its startups. The Department has recently launched a newsletter: 'The Innovation Chronicle': a monthly guide to key events, initiatives, and industry highlights in ESDM, startups, IT, and biotech through different sections like Breaking news, Department Hub, Industry in Focus, Luminary talks, among many other interesting insights from the Department.

The event under the theme ‘Breaking Boundaries’, will provide unbound opprtunities that will feature a range of activities including a 6-track Conference covering IT & Deep Tech, Biotech & Healthtech, Startup Ecosystem, Global Innovation Alliance, India-USA Tech Conclave and newly added Electro-Semicon track. The Conference will host over 85 sessions featuring 460+ speakers. Each of these tracks are curated by a committee of experts from the industry, research and academia. Special programs like the India-USA Tech Conclave, CEO Conclave, Startup Conclave, and Fireside Chats with renowned personalities will also be featured. 97% Of Educators In Bangalore, Delhi, And Hyderabad Eager To Integrate AI For Improved Teaching, Finds Digii Survey

Digii, India’s leading SaaS provider for Higher Education, today released a first-of-its-kind survey, titled, ‘AI-Driven Education: Maximizing the potential of AI to aid educators and enhance educational successes. The unique survey conducted amongst faculty members from higher education institutes in Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad, aimed to capture educators' perspectives on the growing role of AI in education. The findings revealed that 93% of faculty members across these regions are enthusiastic about AI and believe it will significantly enhance their teaching experience.

Based on insights from over 500 educators across 22 leading institutions nationwide, including Manipal Academy of Banking, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), Chanakya University, BITSoM, VIT Bangalore, The Apollo University, Malla Reddy University, the Indian Institute of Art and Design, etc, the survey explored the transformative potential of AI on overall teaching experience. It also assessed faculty readiness for training in AI tools and examined how technology can be leveraged to revolutionize teaching and learning.

The Digii survey revealed that about 41% of faculty members are actively using AI in their teaching. Among these, over 70% utilize AI for content creation, 40.1% for generating assessments, 28.4% for monitoring attendance, 24.4% for conducting evaluations, and 22.5% for generating feedback. Additionally, over 37% have experimented with AI tools but are not currently using them, while 21.6% have not used AI tools at all in their teaching.

"One of the most promising insights from our survey is the overwhelming enthusiasm among educators in Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad to embrace AI-based tools. 97% of them are not only interested in leveraging AI to improve learning outcomes but are also willing to undergo the necessary training to integrate these tools effectively into their teaching practices," said Hemant Sahal, Founder & CEO, Digii.

Later in the afternoon, Mrs. Bhakti Samant, Chief Dietician at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai, and Honorary Joint Secretary of IAPEN's Mumbai Chapter, led an engaging session on "Decoding Diagnostics." She provided a clear overview of diagnostic techniques in clinical nutrition, helping the audience understand how to apply these methods effectively in practice.

IIIT-Bangalore And Greendzine Technologies Sign MoU For Collaborative R&D On Robotic Picker Project

International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B), a premier research and development institution, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Greendzine Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a leading company specializing in Electric mobility solutions for the Industrial and Warehouse market. Greendzine is building solutions to connect Warehouse to Home (W2H) through its MOPTro EV platform. This MoU marks the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on the development and implementation of the innovative Robotic Picker technology on Greendzine's MOPTro WASP, a product for warehouse picking.

The collaboration aims to leverage IIIT-B's cutting-edge research capabilities and Greendzine's expertise in electric mobility solutions to create a groundbreaking Robotic Picker that can significantly enhance automation in warehouses and industries. The project will involve advanced research in vision systems, multi-agent path planning algorithms and universal grippers, with IIIT-B providing the necessary lab facilities, product demonstration platforms and funding for the research.

IIIT-Bangalore will offer its expertise in the areas of vision systems, path planning algorithms and universal grippers while providing lab facilities for research and product demonstration. IIIT-B will also fund the project, including resources, hardware, software and IP filing.

Greendzine Technologies will be responsible for the execution and management of the project, including overseeing program management, prototyping, testing and vendor management. The company will also handle the demonstration of the solution to potential customers and execute proof of concept at customer premises.

The project, which is set to run for one year with an option for an additional two-year extension represents a significant step forward in the field of robotic automation. Both parties are committed to ensuring the highest standards of research and development throughout the collaboration. The project is under aegis of MINRO, which is Center of Excellence (CoE) funded by the Government of Karnataka.

Commenting on the partnership, Commodore SR Sridhar (Retd), Registrar of IIIT-Bangalore, said, "This collaboration with Greendzine Technologies aligns with IIIT-Bangalore's mission to encourage innovation and create impactful technological solutions. The Robotic Picker project holds immense potential to revolutionize the automation landscape in industries and warehouses."

Mr. Karthikeyan Sundaram, Co-Founder & CTO, Greendzine Technologies, added, "We are pleased to enter into an MoU to advance our Robotic Picking Project to the next level. This 12-month research collaboration focuses on developing a universal gripper for warehouse environments, capable of handling diverse volumetric and textured items. Our research will dive into vision systems, multi-agent path planning, and gripper technology, with the goal of filing intellectual properties (IPs) and eventually bringing the product to market. This strategic partnership also emphasizes the importance of our philosophy "Manomation", which is Human-Robot collaboration, particularly through the development of cobots (collaborative robots) that assist rather than replace human workers. This approach aligns with our broader mission to enhance workforce productivity, reduce fatigue, and encourage greater participation of women in the workforce. Our ultimate aim is to take cutting-edge technology from the lab to real-world applications, with interest already shown by customers across various sectors, including automotive and third-party logistics.

AU Small Finance Bank To Organize 1100 Health Camps Across 12 States In India

* Benefitting close to 1 Lakh people from aspirational districts of Rural India

AU Small Finance Bank, India's largest Small Finance Bank, has launched a comprehensive initiative to organise health camps across twelve states. The initiative was launched with an inaugural camp in Sirohi district, Rajasthan, today. Through this initiative, the Bank’s CSR arm- AU Foundation aims to organize 1,100 camps, benefiting approximately 1 lakh individuals who lack easy access to primary healthcare services.

The primary goal of these camps is to provide basic health checkups and diagnoses to the rural communities, with a focus on reducing the prevalence of anemia and raising awareness about diseases in rural India. The initiative will be executed in phase wise manner beginning with Rajasthan and Gujarat in the first phase and later expanding to ten more states, including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh. At few locations, the camp will be hosted twice in broader time intervals to monitoring the health of patients hailing from the same location.

These camps, targeting the aspirational districts in rural India, aim to bring healthcare benefits to underprivileged communities. Medical teams will conduct primary-level health checks, including weight, height, hemoglobin levels, blood pressure, blood sugar and assessments for conditions such as cough, fever, skin diseases and other ailments. Necessary medications will also be provided based on the diagnoses and each anemic patient will receive a 30-day supply of tablets as part of the Anemia Awareness Program.

Over the last three years, AU SFB has organized a total of 2,350 health checkup camps across 11 states, benefiting 1.6 lakh individuals, with an average of 780 plus camps conducted annually.
