Beginning December 2018, Jet Airways, India’s premier, full-service international airline, is all set to strengthen its network by introducing 18 additional frequencies on domestic as well as international routes to meet growing demand from travellers.
Earlier this month, Jet Airways launched the country’s first non-stop service between Mumbai and Manchester, UK. Come 01st December, the airline will further enhance connectivity to Singapore with its new, non-stop service from Pune. Pune recorded the highest number of arrivals into Singapore from an upcoming Indian metro and Jet Airways’ new service will complement its current operations to Singapore via its hubs in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. For Pune, a growing business and corporate centre and a leading centre of education, the new service will be the airline’s second international destination from the city.
The airline’s new service from Pune will even benefit guests who are travelling to onward destinations in the Far East, Asia-Pacific and Australia via Singapore, as they can now seamlessly connect onwards using the services of the airline’s codeshare and interline partners such as Garuda Indonesia, Jetstar Asia, and Qantas. For guests travelling to India, the new service will offer greater convenience and save valuable time.
Effective early December, Jet Airways is also adding new frequencies on other select destinations such as Bangkok, Kathmandu and Singapore in ASEAN as well as Doha and Dubai in the Gulf, in view of the growing demand. The airline will soon add a 3rd daily frequency to Bangkok and Singapore each from Delhi and a 3rd daily service to Singapore from Mumbai, complementing its existing services and as a direct outcome to the increase in air traffic between India and the ASEAN region. Industry air passenger traffic between Singapore – India itself increased by 17% through 2017.
Additional frequencies will also be introduced to the Gulf, strengthening the airline’s status as one of the largest carriers to/ from the region. December will see the introduction of 2nd daily services connecting Mumbai and Delhi with Doha respectively. The addition of a 7th daily frequency between Mumbai and Dubai will also make Jet Airways the only airline to offer unparalleled 24 hour connectivity to the Gulf’s favorite destination - for business and leisure travellers alike - with maximum number of daily services.
Jet Airways will also offer a 4th daily frequency between Delhi and Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
These additional services are the result of a comprehensive network review by the airline, with the objective of strengthening its network at its hubs at Mumbai and Delhi, as part of its initiative of deploying assets on more productive and economically efficient routes instead of uneconomic ones. The extensive connectivity via these centre points to its domestic and international network will enable the airline to undertake denser operations, introduce these additional frequencies offering greater choice and connectivity to its guests. The measures will also help align capacity with the demand characteristics of specific markets.
Jet Airways also continues to augment its domestic connectivity at these hubs, and will increase operations between Mumbai and Amritsar to daily frequencies, and add a 4th daily frequency on the Delhi – Amritsar route in December. These steps are in addition to new services already introduced at the beginning of Winter Schedule, including new flights on the Delhi & Bangalore – Vadodara routes, increased frequencies in the Mumbai – Guwahati and Mumbai – Patna markets and an enhancement of capacity from ATR to 737 operations on the Delhi – Jodhpur route.
Raj Sivakumar, Senior Vice-President – Worldwide Sales & Distribution, Jet Airways, said, “The strategy will enable Jet Airways to offer extensive connectivity via Mumbai to most its network in South and West India. Similarly, new services to Delhi will offer seamless connectivity to the North and East of India. Both hubs will also supplement wide ranging domestic India access with connections to its growing international network, as the airline takes a further step towards developing connecting pathways between East and West, and growing as a regional hub in Asia.”
The above services based on the recent network review will help the airline improve yields and fully leverage the advantages of its new, fuel-efficient B737 MAX fleet, 6 more of which are expected to join the fleet this fiscal. Together, the new, aircraft will help the airline to not only improve revenues, but also reduce costs simultaneously.

Nutanix, a leader in enterprise cloud computing has announced the findings of its first ever global Enterprise Cloud Index, measuring enterprise plans for adopting private, hybrid and public clouds.* The new report found enterprises plan to increase hybrid cloud usage, with 91% stating hybrid cloud as the ideal IT model, but only 18% stating they have that model today. The findings also revealed that application mobility across any cloud is a top priority for 97% of respondents – with 88% of respondents saying it would “solve a lot of my problems.” Additionally, the report found public cloud is not a panacea; IT decision makers ranked matching applications to the right cloud environment as a critical capability, and 35% of organizations using public clouds overspent their annual budget. When asked to rank the primary benefits of hybrid cloud, interoperability between cloud types (23%) and the ability to move applications back and forth between clouds (16%) outranked cost (6%) and security (5%) as the primary benefits.
Nutanix commissioned Vanson Bourne to survey IT decision makers about where they are running their business applications today, where they plan to run them in the future, challenges in setting up their cloud environments and how their cloud initiatives stack up against other IT projects and priorities. The survey resulted in approximately 2,300 respondents from multiple industries, business sizes and geographies in the Americas; Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA); and Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) regions.
In roles centered on agility and digital transformation, IT teams understand that runtime environments for enterprise apps change constantly. Respondents indicated a need for greater orchestration and application mobility across cloud environments, as they seek flexibility to move apps to the “right” cloud on a more dynamic basis. In addition, shadow IT practices that circumvent enterprise IT teams are posing a significant challenge to forecasting and controlling public cloud spend with well over half of respondents (57%) reporting one or more incidents of shadow IT.
Other key findings of the report include:
Hybrid cloud better addresses business needs over single public cloud, including the price tag: 87% of respondents said that hybrid cloud as an IT trend is having a positive impact on their businesses, and more hybrid cloud users reported all their needs were being met (49%) compared to single public cloud users (37%). Furthermore, organizations that use public cloud spend 26% of their annual IT budget on public cloud. Perhaps most striking is the fact that only 6% using public cloud came in under budget, while nearly six times as many (35%) overspent in their use of public cloud resources
Security is top of mind for determining workloads: 71% of respondents surveyed for the report ranked data security and regulatory compliance as the top factor in determining where to provision their workloads. This was followed by performance at 62%, ease of management at 53%, and cost at 52%.
App developers today are circumventing IT: 57% of respondents said their developers are circumventing IT when it comes to deciding where applications run, putting the organization at potential risk.
Finding hybrid IT talent is difficult: With clear benefits to a hybrid model, respondents say scarcity of hybrid experts is a challenge, with 54% claiming talent retention is part of the problem.
EMEA is expected to surpass the Americas with hybrid cloud adoption:Regionally, the Americas reported greater use of hybrid clouds now (22%) and within 12 months’ time (31%). However, the two-year outlook has EMEA (43%) surpassing the Americas’ hybrid plans (39%) and APJ (39%) catching up.
“As enterprises demand stronger application mobility and interoperability, they are increasingly choosing hybrid cloud infrastructure,” said Ben Gibson, chief marketing officer for Nutanix. “While the advent of public cloud has increased IT efficiency in certain areas, hybrid cloud capabilities are the next step in providing the freedom to dynamically provision and manage applications based on business needs. However, the findings of this study reveal an important gap in the market: organizations need IT talent to manage their hybrid cloud models, especially in the next 12 to 24 months.”
