GROHE SPA In Conversation With India’s Design Leaders On Personalised Luxury And Wellness

The idea of home as a private wellness retreat took centre stage, as India’s leading architects and design voices came together for an exclusive design summit hosted by GROHE. Moderated by actor and host Kubbra Sait, the evening moved beyond a traditional product-launch format to explore how luxury is evolving from bold statements to thoughtful personalisation.

A key moment of the evening was a fireside conversation featuring Celebrity Interior Designer Gauri Khan, Architect Rajiv Parekh of Red Architects, and Bijoy Mohan, Executive Officer and Executive Vice President, LIXIL International, LIXIL Corporation. Together, they discussed the growing demand for personalised luxury and how the modern Indian bathroom is increasingly designed as an individually curated sanctuary.

Sharing her thoughts on the showcase, Gauri Khan, Celebrity Interior Designer and Founder, Gauri Khan Designs, said, “The era of a one-size-fits-all bathroom is effectively over. Clients today aren’t simply asking for a shower; they are asking for a ritual. They want to shape how water interacts with the space, the flow, the positioning, and the overall atmosphere. Luxury today is the freedom to personalise an experience, not just select a product.”

This shift was brought to life through the event’s experiential zones, where the focus turned to modularity. GROHE Rainshower Aqua and Grohtherm Aqua were presented not simply as fittings, but as architectural tools, enabling designers to treat the shower as a composition rather than a fixed template.

Rajiv Parekh of Red Architects highlighted what this means for architects: “At RED we have always endeavored to create spaces that adapt with changing needs as clients grow and change and the new GROHE SPA collections allows us to give our clients that flexibility. With modular systems like Rainshower Aqua, we can design the shower experience with far more freedom, placing outlets across ceilings, walls, or side panels to suit the geometry of the space. The engineering can remain hidden, while the experience feels seamless and intentional.”

Offering a market perspective, Priya Rustogi, Leader (Managing Director), India, LIXIL IMEA noted that personalised luxury is increasingly shaping premium residential design across India. “We are seeing a shift in how people value private space,” she said. “In a hyper-connected world, the bathroom has become a place to pause and reset. With GROHE SPA, our focus is to give architects and designers the ability to create truly individual sanctuaries, where wellness is not an idea, but something you experience through water, every day.”

Set against immersive installations, the evening brought together leading architects and retail partners, allowing them to experience the GROHE SPA vision first-hand. The tone was closer to a design gallery than a conventional brand showcase, reflecting a clear direction for premium living: spaces shaped by personal rituals, refined detail, and experience-led design.
