India’s First Factory Custom, Jawa Perak, Hits the Streets Across the Country

Jawa Perak

* Deliveries of the motorcycle start from 20th July 2020 at dealerships across India
* Powered by a 334cc cross port engine delivering 30.64 PS of power and a higher 32.74 Nm of torque
* The company puts in place attractive finance schemes and safety protocols across dealerships for a worry-free buying experience

Jawa Perak has been one of the most anticipated motorcycles of 2020 and now the wait to see the Perak on the road and own this creature of the night is over. Classic Legends Pvt. Ltd. announced the start of deliveries of the Perak from the 20th of July across the length and breadth of the country.

The Perak is a motorcycle reminiscing the past, yet far ahead of its time. Designed and developed as a factory custom embodying the spirit of ‘Stealth, Vigilante and Dark’, the BSVI compliant machine is a true bobber in spirit and form with ‘bobbed’ fenders, chopped exhaust and a floating seat.

India’s first Factory Custom is powered by a 334cc liquid cooled, single cylinder, four stroke, DOHC engine, producing 30.64 PS of power and 32.74 Nm of torque, breathing out through signature twin Jawa exhausts chopped for the authentic bobber stance.

The time during the lockdown was spent fruitfully by the Perak product team as they managed to crank up the torque by nearly 2Nm from its earlier 31 Nm. The higher torque directly translates to better pulling performance both from standstill and rolling acceleration. This has been achieved with meticulous fine tuning of the engine coupled with the new cross port technology that ensures thrilling performance while delivering cleaner emissions compliant with BSVI regulations. All this power is put to the tarmac via a 6-speed transmission with ratios optimised to offer a great riding experience through the gears.

Housed in a completely reworked chassis with an all-new swingarm, engineered to offer the optimum transverse, longitudinal, torsional rigidity. Frame and swingarm stiffness have been tuned for a linear feel, aiding stability over straights and poise along winding roads. This plays a significant role in improving the handling.

Unleashing the Jawa Perak, Anupam Thareja, co-founder, Classic Legends said, “When we set out to build the Perak, the goal was simple – to create a motorcycle with the right blend of exclusivity, individuality and performance, with a hint of sinister and dark. Built on the idea of India’s first factory custom, the Perak is just that and now it is out on its prowl. We are proud of our creation and today we offer it to our customers to enjoy. We welcome them to the ’dark’ side and hope that nights will never be the same for Perak riders.”

To help bikers give in to temptation more easily, the Jawa Perak is also available with a range of easy finance options. Each Finance Options on offer across Jawa dealerships has something unique. A few highlights are:

•           50% off on first 3 EMIs
•           Special EMI plan @ Rs. 6,666/month
•           EMI plans as low as Rs. 8,000 @ 2years and Rs. 6,000 @ 3years
•           100% funding | Zero down payment | No income proof required. (T&C apply)

The Jawa Perak was officially launched on November 15th 2019 and the bookings for this factory-custom bobber motorcycle began on January 1st. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 1,94,500, ex-showroom, Delhi. The motorcycle is available for display, test rides and booking at all Jawa dealerships across India.

Classic Legends has put in place a comprehensive standard operating procedure across its sales outlets and the dealerships have been adhering to the policies and measures directed by the Central and State governments with respect to the safety of customers, employees and visitors. The showrooms are functional with teams trained and equipped to follow social distancing, hygiene and sanitation protocols.

500+ BPO jobs to move from Australia to India: Vodafone

Vodafone Hutchison has announced that it will be offshoring 450 call center jobs from Australia to Tasmania and India. A spokesman for Vodafone Hutchison Australia said that company would transfer an unspecified number of positions to a call centre in Mumbai and about 100 jobs to Kingston, Tasmania.

Service Stream, the company that was running Vodafone contract confirmed the telecom operator's plans to end the contract employing 450 in customer service and support roles starting in October to February. Michael Doery, Managing Director of Service Stream says that the company would try to find new roles for the affected employees, but was unlikely to accommodate them. "We're trying to do the right thing for our staff but not give them false expectations. Call centre people are unlikely to suit the other sort of work we do, which is technically-based or based on outdoor civil activities. If a company we're providing services to makes a decision to in-source call centre jobs to Tasmania and India, that's not our decision," Doery said.

The decision to transfer call center jobs out of Australia comes three months after Vodafone Australia and Hutchison 3G Australia formed a 50:50 joint venture. Speaking on the current development Nigel Dews, Australia Chief of Vodafone Hutchison said, "The opportunity to use our combined scale to enhance our customer service capabilities is an important outcome for the Vodafone Hutchison Australia merger."

Is Wal-Mart set to hire over 22,000 people in US?

Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores will hire over 22,000 people this year, a move that will bring cheer to the country’s strained labour market grappling with rising unemployment woes. The retailer, which is one of the least unscathed entities amid the financial turmoil, would be recruiting people for its new and expanded stores nationwide. Wal-Mart has said it would “create more than 22,000 jobs in 2009 to staff new or expanded stores in the US”.

The company would be taking people for positions including store management, pharmacists, human resource managers, customer service associates, cashiers and sales associates. In a statement on Thursday, the retailer said it would create over 1,000 jobs in several individual states. Wal-Mart would generate nearly “1,300 jobs in Arizona; 1,000 jobs in California; 1,300 jobs in Florida; 1,500 jobs in Michigan; 1,200 jobs in New Jersey; 1,000 jobs in South Carolina; 1,200 jobs in Utah and 1,100 in Virginia,” it said.

Last october, Wal-Mart announced plans to open 142 to 157 new or expanded stores in the US. Eduardo Castro-Wright, who is vicechairman of Wal-Mart said the firm is proud to create quality jobs for thousands of Americans during this tough economic time.

“Job creation is just one way in which we’re working hard every day to help people across this country live better,” Castro-Wright noted.

Wal-Mart along with Indian business group Bharti opened their first store in India last week. The joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Wal-Mart Stores Inc was inked in 2007.
Rattled by the raging economic crisis, the US has seen massive job losses in recent months and the official unemployment rate is well above 9%.

The jobless rate has been on the rise as companies have resorted to trimming their workforce as part of cost-cutting measures. US Federal Reserve chairman Ben S Bernanke on Wednesday said more number of jobs could be lost in the next few months. Wal-Mart has presence in many countries and employs more than 2.1 million associates worldwide.
