SonicWall Accelerates SASE Offerings; Acquires Proven Cloud Security Provider

* SonicWall doubles-down on its cloud-security platform for the modern, remote workforce with its acquisition of Banyan Security

SonicWall, a global cybersecurity leader, today announced the acquisition of Banyan Security, a leading provider of security service edge (SSE) solutions for the modern workforce. This acquisition strengthens SonicWall’s portfolio by adding zero trust security relied on by leading fortune 100 companies to small businesses who are replacing legacy architectures for SSE solutions, including Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).

“Cybersecurity’s focus is shifting to more dynamic solutions that can adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of threats in the cloud age,” said SonicWall President and CEO Bob Vankirk. “For years, firewalls have been the cornerstone of cybersecurity defenses. However, with the rise of cloud computing and secure access service edge (SASE), the industry is shifting its focus to more comprehensive and flexible approaches that include SSE and ZTNA as a necessity. Together, SonicWall and Banyan Security will provide cloud-based secure access service edge (SASE) solutions that empower partners to deliver a security architecture for any stage of their customers’ evolving cloud journey.”

Banyan’s technology further extends SonicWall’s portfolio to the cloud and provides partners and their customers with more flexibility, which is key to the continued development of SonicWall’s cybersecurity platform. The acquisition aligns with SonicWall’s “best of suite” strategy — which includes network, endpoint, wireless, cloud email, and threat intelligence — under a single, multi-tenant portal. The platform also simplifies workflows and offers unified threat visibility, enabling service providers and end users to focus on what truly matters.

“For decades, SonicWall has played a pivotal role in supporting their partners by delivering leading cybersecurity solutions,” said Joshua Skeens, CEO of Logically, a valued SonicWall partner. “They’re now extending that to the cloud as the demand for cloud-first strategies is evident. As businesses embark on their cloud journey, they will require hybrid deployments which SonicWall is ideally positioned to provide, and we are excited to be working alongside SonicWall as we empower businesses to thrive in this new era.”

With hybrid and remote employees working from their homes, virtual offices, and coffee shops, while accessing critical business applications across increasingly complex networks, a new set of challenges has emerged. To secure this ever-growing and interconnected access surface, organizations have been driven to adopt zero trust models to modernize security, often as a replacement for legacy architectures.

The announcement comes on the heels of SonicWall’s acquisition of Solutions Granted, Inc. (SGI), which helped arm the channel with the latest managed detection and response services tailor-made for Managed Service Providers and Managed Security Service Providers.

For more information about SonicWall and its newest acquisition, please attend our webinar to learn more about SonicWall’s platform vision: https://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/5052/603349

Walchand Plus Report Highlights Critical Gaps In Workplace Safety For Women And POSH Act Implementation

* 40% of women experiencing workplace insecurity are unaware of the legal protections – Walchand Plus research releases eye-opening data on the state of POSH training in Corporate India

In a pivotal assessment of the corporate sector’s implementation of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, Walchand Plus, (part of Walchand PeopleFirst ltd., which also owns the Dale Carnegie business in India), an industry leader in workplace solutions, in collaboration with research partner BDB India, exposes critical deficiencies hindering the creation of a secure workspace for women. This comprehensive study, conducted in November 2023, emphasizes the urgent need for a transformative approach to ensure workplace safety.

An alarming revelation surfaces from the study: a staggering 40% of working women experiencing insecurity are unaware of the protective measures offered by the POSH Act. This lack of awareness among employees, as highlighted by the research, underscores the imperative for enhanced education on the Act's provisions. Shockingly, only 42% of employees possess a thorough understanding of the POSH Act.

The report also exposes prevalent misconceptions within organizations, where compliance with the Act is often seen as a mere checkbox rather than a genuine commitment to fostering a safe environment for women. Surveys indicate that 53% of HR professionals are confused about the Act. Furthermore, the research found that HR managers are concerned about the underrepresentation of women and the tendency to downplay harassment issues within senior management.

Commenting on the report Pallavi Jha, Chairperson and Managing Director of Walchand PeopleFirst says, “As a woman, I feel India still has a long way to go when it comes to bridging the gender disparity. In many ways, we’re still a patriarchal society and at Walchand Plus we are committed to driving positive change and fostering a culture of safety, inclusivity, and respect in workplaces across India. The first step towards that is understanding the issue with recent data, which we have tried to do with this research paper. Protecting women at the workplace should be a basic expectation but unfortunately many organizations treat this at a very cosmetic level. Walchand Plus believes that by adopting safety measures, organizations can contribute to a significant shift in workplace dynamics, ensuring the well-being and safety of every employee.”

The research reveals that owing to constraints such as a lack of senior women representation in Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs), among many others, has led much to be desired when it comes to implementation and adherence of the POSH Act. The study underscores the crucial role of training sessions that go beyond legal literacy, addressing procedural aspects and fostering a preventive culture.

Southern Cities Score Big In The 2nd Edition Of “Top Cities For Women” In India Index

Highlights

Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, and Hyderabad rank as the Top 5 Cities for Women in India

National Capital Delhi debuts in the Top 10 Cities for Women in India

Rankings of Gurugram and Jaipur improve significantly

Avtar group, India’s pioneer in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) solutions, released the second edition of ‘Top Cities for Women in India (TCWI)’ index. Data obtained from various governmental sources including Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS July 2022-June 2023), national census and crime records were assimilated apart from Avtar’s primary research on women’s employment. The research comprised an open survey and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) between July 2023 and December 2023 in which over 1200 women from across the country participated. The metrices derived from both the survey and governmental data were put together to arrive at the comprehensive City Inclusion Scores (CIS).

Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Coimbatore, and Jaipur emerge as Top 10 Cities for Women in India in the Category 1 that lists cities with a population of more than one million. The national capital makes a debut in this edition of Top 10 by positioning itself on the 8th rank. The performance of Tamil Nadu state capital Chennai is commendable – it cemented its position as the top city for women to retain its number 1 ranking.

Tiruchirappalli, Vellore, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Shimla, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Gurugram and Puducherry feature in the Category 2 (with a population of less than one million) of Top Cities for Women.             A total of 113 cities were identified for the study based on the role these cities play in the economic growth of the country. The 113 cities have been divided into two categories in the listing. Category 1 covers 49 cities with a population of more than a million and category 2 covers 64 cities with less than a million population. The City Inclusion Score (CIS) which determines the rankings of the cities is based on three pillars – Social Inclusion Score (SIS), Industrial Inclusion Score (IIS) and Citizen Experience Score (CES).  While Social Inclusion Score focuses on external social environment, Industrial Inclusion Score evaluates the extent to which organisations include women in their workforce. The data collated from women across India through FGDs and surveys were used to create the CES.

While building inclusive and equitable cities is still work in progress in India, Southern cities that have strong historical and social factors along with enabling government policies are contributing to gender-progressive living environments helping the cities feature in the index.

Tamil Nadu cities dominate in both population-wise categories with Chennai topping the million plus category and Tiruchirappalli topping the less than a million category.

As many as 8 cities out of 10 in the less than a million-population category are from the Southern part of India – Tiruchirappalli, Vellore, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur and Puducherry. Only two cities – Shimla and Gurugram are from the Northern region. Tamil Nadu with Chennai and Coimbatore, and Maharashtra with Mumbai and Pune are the only states with two cities each in the million-plus category, that have made it to the Top 10 index.

Speaking at the announcement, Dr Saundarya Rajesh, Founder-President, Avtar group said, “Vibrant employment opportunities, good quality of life including educational and healthcare facilities, well-connected transportation networks, experience of safety are defining attributes of inclusive cities for women.  Avtar’s annual index, Top Cities for Women in India is a clarion call to create equitable pathways to increase women’s workforce participation in the country. Our data-driven and evidence-based understanding of the ethos of Indian cities towards women’s inclusion will help in making our country a developed nation by 2027 – as envisioned by our Honorable Prime Minister. Creating environments where women thrive, lead, and contribute their fullest potential is crucial in this pursuit.”

Key findings of the Top cities for Women in India 2023 report

7 Tamil Nadu Cities are among Top Cities for Women in India across categories.

Southern cities dominate in the less than a million category – 8 out of 10 are from the South.

Jaipur bags the 10th rank in the TCWI list in the million plus category.

Gurugram is at the number one position in industrial inclusion in the less than a million category.

32% of the women surveyed feel unsafe and 21% women feel unsure of their safety, stepping out after 8 pm in their cities.

Women rate Indian cities the best on educational and healthcare facilities.

31% of women feel judged for their choice of attire in their cities, while 30% report mixed experiences.

Zillion Launches Rewards-As-A-Service For Brands Across India

* Specially designed rewards platform that will cater to specific needs of brands with an existing loyalty currency

* Zillion will be targeting banks and large enterprises with this new launch

Zillion, one of India’s largest multi-brand loyalty programs, that is part of the BharatPe Group, today announced the launch of Rewards-as-a-Service (RaaS) platform for brands that have an existing loyalty currency, but would need a robust rewards redemption platform to offer a best-in-class experience to their customers. With this newly launched product, the company will be targeting to onboard banks and large enterprises, including those with an extensive distribution network.

Rewards-as-a Service platform will enable brands to have the flexibility of running their own loyalty currency, while offering an exciting redemption platform for their customers. The platform offers a host of options to choose from, including e-Vouchers, Products, Utilities, Air Miles and more. This will also eliminate the hassle of brands having to onboard multiple partners so as to offer a plethora of redemption choices to their customers. The pricing will be competitive as the platform will operate on a bidding model which will ensure customers get the best price at all times.

Speaking on the launch, Mr. Rijish Raghavan, CEO, Zillion, said, “Loyalty industry has undergone a transformational shift over the last few years. Today, the loyalty industry is democratized and loyalty is not limited to only big brands. Young and unconventional brands have realized that loyalty is a great tool to drive customer stickiness and hence, are investing in a robust loyalty program. However, in a majority of cases, the redemption process is broken or very sub-standard with minimal redemption options as brands usually have a select set of options for customers to choose from. Our rewards platform with over 250 choices in e-vouchers, over 4000 products, Air Miles etc., will enable these brands to offer a superlative loyalty experience to their customers. Rewards-as-a-Service will widen the offering from Zillion and allow us to partner with brands who are looking for pure-play rewards management versus overall loyalty management. We are confident that this will be a game changer in the industry and will help us further strengthen our foothold in the market.”

Zillion (erstwhile PAYBACK India) is a unique multi-brand loyalty program, designed to engage with customers and reward them for their purchases with loyalty coins that can be redeemed later. Currently, its members can earn coins at 50+ brands – instore & online and redeem them at select partners or for products and vouchers from leading brands. The customers can earn  ‘Zillion coins’ for their routine spends, across the network of offline and online partners, including groceries, fuel, entertainment, travel, apparel and more. The partners of Zillion include renowned brands from multiple industries including retail, fuel, banking, payments, entertainment, hospitality and travel. Some of its key partners include HPCL, BookMyShow, American Express, Amazon, Flipkart and many more.

Float Run off-ear headphones keep ears unobstructed, to achieve peak performance in whatever activity they are performing. The result is a more spatial and natural listening experience.

With an IPX4 splashproof rating[ii], consumers do not have to worry about damage from sweat or from getting caught out in the rain. With long battery life and up to 10 hours playtime when fully charged, the Float Run headphones will power long runs. In a hurry? A quick charge of 10 minutes will give an hour of play[iii]. With a variety of controls built in, users can control playback and access their smartphone's voice assistant without having to take it out of their pocket or bag[iv]. When their run is over and it’s time to get to work, these headphones have a high-quality built-in microphone to make them just as ideal for productivity tasks. Float Run headphones conveniently charge using USB-C. Additionally, the headphones include a carrying pouch to keep the supplied charging cable and headphones together and protected.

Medtronic And Cardiac Design Labs Collaborate To Launch Indigenously Developed Advanced Heart Rhythm Monitoring Technology

* Medtronic to become exclusive distributor of Padma Rhythms® monitoring device in India to enable early disease identification and management for patients from the comfort of their homes.

India Medtronic Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Medtronic plc (NYSE:MDT), today announced a strategic collaboration with Cardiac Design Labs (CDL) to launch, scale up, and expand access to CDL’s novel diagnostic technology, Padma Rhythms®, an external loop recorder (ELR) patch designed for comprehensive, long-term heart monitoring and diagnosis. As part of the collaboration, Medtronic will become the exclusive distributor of Padma Rhythms in India, while both Medtronic and CDL will jointly develop training and education programs to expand reach of the ELR technology across the country.

“We are excited to embark on this transformative journey with CDL to reshape cardiac rhythm monitoring in India,” said Michael Blackwell, vice president and managing director of Medtronic India. “Remote monitoring of cardiac diseases is a rapidly growing space and the inclusion of Padma Rhythms ELR patch provides us with an opportunity to serve more patients by expanding its reach across India.”

The ELR device combines the convenience of an external patch with the advanced capabilities of a Holter, ensuring accurate and insightful data for the monitoring period. It has been designed and manufactured in India by CDL and is powered by a first-of-its-kind connected platform for managing tests, data, algorithms, analysis, review, and reporting. CDL’s innovation includes wearables designed for use in sweat inducing conditions with dependable workflows and minimal interventions for use of devices. An automated data transfer mechanism allows physicians and technicians to access real-time test management dashboards and full disclosures on-demand.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to be the leading cause of death globally and in India. A study by Global Burden of Disease puts the death due to CVD in India at 272 per 1 Lakh population as compared to the global average of 235.1

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Medtronic in our combined objective to alleviate the burden of heart rhythm disorders in India,” said Anand Madanagopal, founder and chief executive officer at CDL.  “The collaboration holds immense promise for the future of cardiac care in India. The launch of Padma Rhythms?marks the coming together of?a?decade of building an indigenous platform with strong R&D focus and interplay of technologies that can bring?a?tectonic shift?in the prevailing cardiac monitoring approaches.”

Proven with over two million hours of ECG from patients, CDL’s proprietary algorithms have been benchmarked against the best globally and remain core to their innovation and commitment to high standards of performance.2 This combined with the integrated platform assures test outcomes and accuracy in rhythm diagnosis.

“Cardiac rhythm disorders can often exhibit subtle symptoms and can affect people of all ages and backgrounds. Affordable diagnostic solutions ensures that everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic status, can access essential diagnostic tools, leading to earlier detection and timely intervention,” said Dr. Devi Shetty, chairman of Narayana Health. “It is initiatives like these that will help address the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases in the country."

Padma Rhythms® ELR features dual ECG channels for precise abnormality detection, a high-resolution 16-bit ECG for accurate data analysis, and proprietary AI-powered algorithms for efficient monitoring. The device is disposable, easily activated, water-resistant, and breathable, ensuring comfort and reliable performance. Crafted with a focus on high fidelity and lightweight construction, it allows uninterrupted daily activities during continuous monitoring.
