Hero MotoCorp Has Announced A New Investment Of Rs 420 Crore In Ather Energy


Aligned with its vision - ‘Be the Future of Mobility’, Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has announced a new investment of up to Rs. 420 Crore in Ather Energy.

The company’s board has approved the investment in one or more tranches. Prior to the proposed investment, Hero MotoCorp’s shareholding in Ather Energy was 34.8% (on a fully diluted basis). Post the investment, the shareholding will increase and the exact shareholding will be determined upon completion of capital raise round by Ather.

Commenting on the development, Swadesh Srivastava, Head – Emerging Mobility Business Unit, Hero MotoCorp said, “In keeping with our vision 'Be the Future of Mobility', we are working on a variety of emerging mobility solutions. We were one of the early investors in Ather Energy and have continued to expand our association over the years. We are excited to see the growth of Ather Energy in recent years. Hero MotoCorp is an early investor in Ather Energy and has been a part of its growth story since 2016. The company is also exploring collaborations with Ather Energy in various spheres, such as charging infrastructure, technology and sourcing.

Hero MotoCorp is addressing the emerging mobility opportunity in a comprehensive manner through a range of organic and inorganic initiatives. 

It is gearing up to unveil its first Electric Vehicle (EV) in the month of March this year. The vehicle is being developed at the company’s world-class R&D set-up – the Center of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur and the Tech Center Germany (TGG) near Munich – and will be produced at the company’s manufacturing facility at Chittoor in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Through its investments and partnerships with external partners like Ather Energy and Gogoro Inc., Hero MotoCorp is also working towards building the entire EV ecosystem – from products to technology, to sales, service, customer care, operations, and innovation.

World Peace Museum Inaugurated In Bangalore On Occasion Of Sadako Day

Experience Dimensions Of Religious Festivals: Religion And Spirituality At Paryaya, Udupi, India

Research article by two researchers from Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, has been published in in The International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage published by Technology University Dublin, Ireland.

The article titled "Experience Dimensions of Religious Festivals: Religion and Spirituality at Paryaya, Udupi, India” indicates that ‘Paryaya’ as a festival helps the pilgrims to develop their spirituality. Festivals and events are an important motivation for travel and act as a great tourism attraction for destinations. The five-hundred-year-old ‘Paryaya’ is a festival known for its rituals and religious traditions followed at Sri Krishna Mutt, Udupi, held biennially, attracting thousands of pilgrims from Karnataka, other states of the country and abroad.

The researchers have adopted the concept of experience economy to understand the spiritual nature of religious festivals. Their quantitative research findings on a study conducted during Paryaya in January 2020 indicate that pilgrims' festival experience is a predictor of their revisit intention to Paryaya. Moreover, the research concludes that visitors to Paryaya can be considered as spiritual tourists as their experience reflects the features of spiritual tourism.

Mated to a six-speed constant mesh transmission, the engine is tuned for torquey mid-range for trail riding while developing great top end power for high-speed highway cruising.

The adventure features an all-new chassis, suspended on a unique mono-shock swing arm set-up at the rear and long travel telescopic forks, which gives it an edge over off-road as well as on tarmac, the result is superb handling across various terrains. Despite being a tall motorcycle, the Adventure is surprisingly nimble around corners too.

Braking is taken care of by disc brakes on both ends and dual channel ABS by Continental, with three switchable modes – Road, Rain & Off-road for a more flexible performance.

While retaining its classic identity, the Adventure also is chock-full of interesting, usability features that make the riding experience optimal. The Adventure comes with USB charging capability and Bluetooth connectivity to ensure the user’s smartphone is utilized throughout the ride. The West Midlands Makes Its Mark With Commonwealth Artwork Reveal In India


A unique artistic collaboration powered by people of the Commonwealth has today been unveiled for the first time in Delhi, India. Dubbed the ‘Relaytionship’, the artwork has been launched by the Business and Tourism Programme and is a fluid and dynamic piece of digital art, evolving and growing alongside the Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay as it traverses 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth in 294 days.

Having launched in October in the West Midlands – home to Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games – this is the first reveal of the Relaytionship which has gathered pace and been fuelled by contributions from people across the globe.

To coincide with the Queen’s Baton arriving in the country, the first evolution of the poem and artwork has been revealed at a virtual showcase event, hosted by the British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis.

The Relaytionship artwork was revealed by Apache Indian, who grew up in Handsworth in Birmingham, during the virtual showcase event. 

Originally designed by West Midlands-based audio-visual artist Tommy Xiao Ji in collaboration with spoken word artist Amerah Saleh, the Relaytionship was created by the Business and Tourism Programme to embody the artistic and diverse heritage of the West Midlands whilst reflecting the power of art to connect cultures, countries, and continents.

The artistic collaboration will absorb words and images from people in India, a country with a rich poetic legacy and influence, and continue its journey alongside the Queen’s Baton. Having connected voices from every corner of the Commonwealth, a final version of the hybrid piece of artwork will be revealed when the Queen’s Baton returns to the West Midlands.

Amerah Saleh said: “In October we asked communities around the Commonwealth ‘What does Home mean to you? What does Incredible mean to you?’ and it is inspiring to see the first wave of responses unveiled. As we hoped to demonstrate when we launched the Relaytionship, we are all more connected that you would think. I look forward to developing the artwork as the poem develops and encourage everyone to express what Home and Incredible means to them.”

Wipro Ltd: In-Line Operating Performance During Q3 FY21-22

* Wipro's IT services revenue grew 2.3% QoQ (3% CC) to USD2.64bn in Q3FY22, a tad below our estimates. IT services' EBITM declined 10bps QoQ to 17.6% as revenue momentum and operating efficiencies largely negated wage hikes and lower utilization.

* Wipro has guided for IT services revenue to be in the range of USD2,692-2,745mn in Q4, implying 2-4% CC QoQ growth. Management remains fairly confident of sustaining organic revenue growth momentum in coming quarters while sustaining EBITM at 17-17.5%.

* Wipro signed 11 large deals with a combined TCV of over USD600mn in Q3, while the total order intake was USD2.8bn. Management said the deal pipeline was robust and consisted of a good mix of small and large deals, providing good revenue visibility.

Infosys Ltd: All-Round Beat; FY22 Revenue Growth Guidance Raised

* Infosys has raised its FY22 revenue growth guidance to 19.5-20% CC (earlier 16.5-17.5%), implying 0.5-2% QoQ growth in Q4. Infosys remains confident of sustaining growth momentum on the back of broad-based demand, solid deal intake and a healthy deal pipeline. The company has retained its EBITM guidance at 22-24%.

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd: Revenue Beats Expectations, But Margins Miss

* Revenue growth was broad-based, and all verticals posted double-digit CC growth YoY. Growth was led by Retail & CPG (20.4% CC YoY), Manufacturing (18.3%), BFSI (17.9%), Technology & Services (17.7%) and Life Sciences & Healthcare (16.3%). All geographies, except for Asia Pacific and MEA, posted double-digit growth YoY.

Aditya Birla Fashion And Retail Collaborates With Germany’s GIZ To Boost Circular Economy In The Country


* The joint project will focus on material innovation, reduce inputs of harmful substances, increase textile-to-textile recycling, develop alternatives to plastic packaging, and foster traceability 

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL), one of India’s leading fashion companies, announced that it has collaborated with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH for implementing an India specific project to strengthen the textile and apparel industry for sustainable clothing. This unique initiative is part of the ‘develoPPP programme’ and is being implemented by ABFRL and GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).  

With this collaboration, ABFRL and GIZ aims to strengthen circular business practices for the Indian market. This will support the industry to match supply and demand which was witnessing pressure due to resource constraints.  

The joint project is designed to introduce material innovation, reduce inputs of harmful substances, increase textile-to-textile recycling, develop alternatives to plastic packaging, and foster traceability. The program will complement existing business practices such as downcycling, recycling, reusing and introducing new sustainable production processes. With the support of GIZ, ABFRL along with the Indian industry players will be able to leverage circular business practices and adopt complex processes that are technically superior and consumer friendly.

India’s textile and apparel industry is the 6th largest in the world and second largest employment sector. Promoting a common understanding is therefore crucial from a sustainable development perspective for the entire textile sector in India. 78% Of Indians Feel That Insurance Is An Extremely Important Part Of Overall Financial Planning: SBI Life’s Financial Immunity Survey 2.0


After March 2020, 44% & 46% of the Indians have bought Life & Health insurance respectively for the first time

Key findings: 

* 80% of the Indians strongly feel prepared towards physical immunity out of which 74% have taken double dose of vaccination

* Top 3 worries of Indians

* 59% Rising medical/ treatment cost

* 59% Instability of jobs

* 58% Concerns around Health of self/family members

* 57% of the Indians feel ‘Financial Immunity’ is equal to ‘Being financially secure and stable’

* 3 out of 4 Indians have increased their saving/ investing since January 2021 & 50% of them plan to invest in savings/investments/insurance

* Indians remains underinsured as the life cover to personal annual income ratio is only 3.8 times, which is way below the recommended 10x to 25x of annual income

* 70% of the Indians strongly feel that life cover should keep on increasing when prominent life milestones are achieved  

SBI Life Insurance, one of the most trusted private life insurers in the country, unveiled yet another comprehensive consumer study, The Financial Immunity Survey 2.0, providing deep insights into consumer’s evolving behavior towards financial preparedness in the post covid world. SBI Life commissioned the survey with NielsenIQ (India), reaching out to 5,000 respondents across 28 key cities covering the length and breadth of India.

On the backdrop of the ongoing pandemic, a vast majority of Indians are confident that the country would tide over the situation or a possible 3rd wave. The confidence of being able to navigate through the situation is not surprising when 80% of the Indians strongly feel prepared towards physical immunity on account of taking either single or double dose of vaccination. But 38% of the Indians feel that the situation could worsen over the next three months and their top three worries attributed to (1) Rising medical/ treatment cost (2) Instability of Jobs (3) concerns around Health of family/self.

The survey findings further attempts to decode the behavior towards the top worries citied by consumers on the account of impact of income because of the pandemic where 79% of the Indians faced income reduction and 1/3rd are still facing reduced income. 64% of the Indians feel that their key life milestones like accumulating savings, leisure traveling, providing for child education were impacted.

With COVID-19 and uncertainty around, the importance of financial immunity has increased and 57% of the Indians relate it to being able to maintain ‘Financial Security and Stability of self/ family’.  78% of the Indians, feel that life insurance is extremely important in overall financial planning process. Realizing this importance of insurance, 46% purchased Health insurance and 44% purchased Life insurance for the first time during COVID-19. But although Indians feel insurance is important, they still seem to be under insured with as their insurance cover is ~3.8 times of their annual income which is not even close to recommended 10X or 25X of their annual income.
