Godrej Professional Launches a Campaign Highlighting How Salons are Now #hairforyou

Godrej Professional, a professional brand with products in hair colour, care, styling and keratin from Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), launched the #hairforyou campaign as an extension to the Suraksha Salon Program, with the objective of helping the Indian salon industry get back on its feet and reinstate customer confidence to visit salons. As a part of this, the brand engaged with several influencers across Indian cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Pune. Renowned actresses such as Anupama Gowda and Rajni Dwivedi from Bengaluru, Madhu Shalini from Hyderabad, and Ritabhari Chakraborty, Alivia Sarkar, and Geetashree Roy from Kolkata were also engaged as part of the Godrej Professional #hairforyou campaign.

Godrej Professional through the #hairforyou campaign is attempting to re-establish the confidence of the customers to visit their favourite salons. During the past few months, hair care moved down the priority list and was largely neglected due to unavailability of professional help. However, now as the restrictions have eased, customers can once again treat their hair with professional care. Through engagement with the influencers, the campaign also endeavoured to showcase the hygiene measures that the salon chains have incorporated, to ensure client and employee safety. Right from entry into the salon to the conclusion of the service, the salons uncompromisingly adhered to hygiene protocols.

Commenting on the campaign Mr. Sunil Kataria CEO – India and SAARC, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) said, “Godrej Professional always endeavours to support the Indian salon industry and with the imposition of the lockdown, the beauty establishments suffered with no business. Now, we wanted to communicate how salon establishments are ready to welcome customers once again with a revived importance of hygiene. Through this initiative, Godrej Professional aimed to show that hair care no longer needs to be neglected and that with the right safety measures in place, clients can have an immersive salon experience.”

Suraksha Salon Program by Godrej Professional rested on three pillars – free distribution and subsidized sanitizer and disposable kits cost for salons, education on safety and hygiene for salon infrastructure and services, and back-to-business support. All of these initiatives are available free of cost to any salon that requires support and is not restricted to those that use Godrej Professional.

Is Nokia likely to enter laptop industry?

The world's top cellphone maker Nokia is eyeing entering the laptop business, its Chief Executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said in an interview to Finnish national broadcaster YLE on Wednesday.

"We are looking very actively also at this opportunity," Kallasvuo said, when asked whether Nokia plans to make laptops.

Industry has rumoured about Nokia's possible plan to enter the PC industry since late last year, but Kallasvuo's comment was the first official admittance of such plans.

"We don't have to look even for five years from now to see that what we know as a cellphone and what we know as a PC are in many ways converging," Kallasvuo said.

"Today we have hundreds of millions of people who are having their first Internet experience on the phone. This is a good indication," he said.

Nokia's comments come a week after No 3 PC brand Acer launched a foray into the phone business with eight cellphone models, joining leader Hewlett-Packard and No. 4 Lenovo in the high-growth space.

While strong profit margins in the smartphone industry attract PC brands, the attraction of the low-margin computer industry is less obvious.

"Nokia maybe nervous about entering a market segment that is already heavily commoditised, but it would be in a position to exploit its enormous scale in manufacturing, supply chain and distribution," said Ben Wood, research director at CCS Insight.

"All leading mobile network operators and retailers are adding connected notebooks and netbooks to their portfolios alongside mobile phones. On this basis it comes as no surprise that Nokia is evaluating this segment," he said.

The global PC industry was resilient for most of last year when other technology sectors were ailing, but it too has now been caught up in the deepening economic downturn that has hit demand from consumers and corporate buyers.
