Emirates Announces Repatriation Flights to Five Indian Cities Between July 12-26, 2020

Emirates will be operating special repatriation flights to five Indian cities between 12 and 26 July to assist stranded Indians get home and for residents of UAE currently in India to return to the UAE.

The flights will be operated to Bengaluru, Delhi, Kochi, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram between 12 and 26 July 2020 offering the following flight frequencies

Bengaluru: twice daily flights

Delhi: twice daily flights

Kochi: twice daily flights

Mumbai: thrice daily flights

Thiruvananthapuram: once daily flights

The flights to Bengaluru and Mumbai are subject to state government approval.

Flights can be booked on emirates.com, through travel agents, Emirates’ sales offices and contact centre. Passengers must meet all the entry requirements of the destination to be allowed to board the flights.

Flights from Dubai to India

Only Indian citizens stranded in the UAE will be allowed to fly from Dubai to the five Indian destinations.

These flights will be available for UAE nationals and residents with prior entry approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDFRA) for residents of Dubai and ICA approval for residents of other emirates of the UAE.

All passengers travelling from airports in India to Dubai are also required to carry a negative Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) certificate issued by a laboratory authorised by the government of India to be accepted on the flight. Certificates must be issued no more than 96 hours before departure.

Will HCL Tech layoff 450 employees?

IT services company HCL Technologies has asked 450 employees at its Delhi and Bangalore offices to leave. A majority of those axed were on the bench.

An HCL Technologies official, on the condition of anonymity, said that the company had sacked 400 people in Delhi and another 50 in Bangalore in the last one-two months. The firm had earlier asked those on the bench, the buffer of employees kept on the rolls for new projects, to get assigned to projects or face the prospect of being asked to leave the firm, he said.

In an email reply, a company spokeswoman didn’t comment on the number of people sacked by the company but indicated that the move was linked to the performance of employees.

“HCL follows a systematic process of performance review and development, and the expectation of the organisation is for employees to meet the stringent performance standards. This is a routine and ongoing process,” she said.

As of December 31, 2008, HCL had about 52,957 employees. The global downturn has impacted the revenues of clients of Indian IT companies, thereby dampening demand for software services.

Survey reports 38% recruiters anticipate new jobs in 2009

Thirty per cent of recruiters anticipated new jobs to be added in 2009 while 9.5 percent predicted layoffs, according to a recent survey.

Over 40 per cent recruiters in pharma, IT, ITes, retail, telecom, banking feel that there will be creation of new jobs in 2009, the survey, covering over 1500 recruiters and conducted by Naukri.com, a leading job website, said.

According to the survey, 37.8 percent expected replacement hiring while 14.3 percent expected freeze on recruitment procedure.The real estate industry expected a 16 percent layoffs in the sector in the coming months.

As per the survey, the overall job index fell from 776 in November to 697 in December 2008, a drop of 10 per cent in new jobs. Overall, it implied a 31 per cent decline in new jobs since July 2008.

City wise, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata witnessed a decline in new jobs. Most of the cities saw a decline in jobs, notably Delhi - NCR, registering a drop from 841 in November to 697 in Decmber.

Mumbai moved up marginally from 692 in November to 717 in December. Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Cochin, Baroda, where jobs grew or declined by a small margin, remained less affected.
