Toyota Kirloskar Motor today celebrated 75th independence day by engaging with students at Government High School, Mayaganahalli near Bidadi. As a part of TKM’s novel initiative – iCARE, volunteering employees, their families and members of Gram Panchayat and community members wholeheartedly participated in the event by flag hoisting at the school and took part in activities like arts and crafts, creating awareness on environment initiatives.
The event was graced by Mr Sudeep S Dalvi, Senior Vice President and Chief Communication Officer, Swapnesh R Maru, Executive Vice President, and R Venkatakrishnan, Vice President, and senior officials from TKM. The participants made mural paintings on the theme that focused on educational and values. They also undertook a de-weeding and plantation activity in and around the school where 200 saplings comprising of medicinal plants, fruits, and general species were planted. In addition, the day also saw awareness session conducted by TKM HR on career guidance and road safety.
As a good corporate citizen, TKM remains committed to bring in more enriching and sustainable CSR projects for the holistic development of the community, thus effectively contributing to the cause of positive societal growth for a stronger India.
Commenting on the initiative, R Venkatakrishnan, Vice President, TKM said, “Preserving biodiversity and sustainable living are at the very core of our environment initiatives at TKM. Our primary goal is to foster and shape young minds and empower them to drive change for a greener tomorrow. Through iCARE initiatives on this very special occasion of 75th Independence day and Toyota completing 25 years in India, we are trying to build a community that is sensitive to the environment as we proactively contribute towards a building a sustainable society. We are extremely happy with the response from our young participants, and we will continue to educate and build a community living in harmony with nature.”
Since its inception in 2017, ICARE has grown tremendously and has had a substantial impact on society touching 57,000 lives so far. Currently, about 1,000 employees are registered with ICARE under which various activities are implemented to further support and make a difference to society while providing an enriching experience to employees. These initiatives are implemented in the domains of education, environment, health and hygiene, road safety, skill development and disaster management in line with TKM’s CSR vision. The platform empowers passionate employees who believe in volunteering for social causes during their free time.
