* Launches free package delivery pick ups in Delhi NCR for pre-loved woolens as winter giveaways to the less privileged
Uber today rolled out its annual winter campaign - ‘Spread Warmth with Uber Package’, by inviting people to contribute woolens to help the needy this winter. Uber will provide free pick-ups and drops for these giveaways in Delhi-NCR between Dec 13 and Dec 19, from 10AM to 5PM. The ridesharing company has partnered with notable non profit Goonj for this campaign, which has been running winter giveaway campaigns for over two decades.
On the Uber app - a dedicated delivery option, ‘Package Giving’, has been created through which people can give away their woolen clothes in good condition to the underprivileged to help provide some comfort during north India’s cold winter. Uber will provide logistics support by offering free Uber Package rides for delivering woolens to Goonj’s Head Office in Delhi. Goonj will sort and include these woolens in its ‘Winter Kits’ to be sent to colder regions of rural India, carefully prepared for families in need.
Uber is committed to supporting communities it serves in, and urges residents of Delhi-NCR to generously support the initiative which makes giving and sharing as easy as a few clicks on the app.
Speaking about Uber’s campaign, Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, said, “We have always strived to support the communities in the cities we serve, in all the ways we can. We know the winters are harsh in most of north India, and that many are forced to endure the biting cold without access to proper woolens. We decided to partner with Goonj considering their expertise of over two decades when it comes to winter woolen giveaways, and we encourage residents of Delhi NCR who want to do their bit to share the warmth with the less privileged.’’
Speaking about the partnership, Anshu Gupta, Founder Director, Goonj, said, “We believe winters are an annual, preventable disaster for people who have little clothes. In cities like Delhi, where we have abundance of clothes and woolens in our homes, this campaign gives everyone an option to create exponential impact beyond the regular recycling of their woolens. Instead when you ‘Goonj it’ your woolens, you not only bring warmth to someone you also contribute to rural development outcomes. We also hope that more corporations and cloth brands partner with us on preventing this annual suffering of people.”
Help Spread Warmth this winter in 3 easy steps:

Respecting the dignity of people receiving these woolens, Uber requests its customers to give items that are in good and usable condition.
