Department of Mechatronics, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal organised a three-day international conference on Robotics, Control, Automation, and Artificial Intelligence (RCAAI 2022). It was held between 24th to 26th November 2022.
The conference was inaugurated in the Sir M Visvesvaraya Seminar Hall of MIT Campus and the chief guest for inaugural function was Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy he is a Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri at the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. The patron of the conference Cdr. Dr. Anil Rana, Director, MIT, Manipal presided over the inaugural session and motivated the participants through his inspirational talk. Dr. DV Kamath, Professor & Head, Dept. of Mechatronics, MIT Manipal also educated the gathering related to the theme.

Speaking about the event Cdr. Dr. Anil Rana, Director, MIT, Manipal said that “It is great to see the leading researchers from abroad deliberates speeches on topics like Bio-inspired Robotics, Rescue Robotics, Hybrid Parallel Robots for human-robot interaction, AI & Automation, Robotics for Rural applications, and RCAAI-2022 is very much in line with the conference theme. Also, the collaboration with Department of Mechanical Engineering has been exceptionally beneficial for us, let’s keep growing together like this”
Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri, Ministry of Defence, Government of India said that “I’m thrilled looking at the participation, where students from various places have joined us today. The need for engineering institutions to continuously strive and excel was much needed. Especially in the emerging areas of Robotics, Control, Automation, and Artificial Intelligence, I urge the institutions to come out with a roadmap to meet the future expectations of mankind and economic growth.”
Prof. S M Kulkarni, Dean (R&C), NITK Surathkal, and Dr. Ravikiran Kadoli, Professor & Head, Mechanical Engineering, NITK, Surathkal, emphasized the need for such conferences to upgrade the knowledge of Mechatronics in emerging areas. On 23rd November 2022, as part of the pre-conference tutorial, BTech and MTech students were given hands-on training on the use of Robo Analyzer software for the demonstration of Robot Kinematics by the developers of Robo Analyzer and RIDIM software.
The participants belonged to various countries such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), USA, Sweden, Canada, and Botswana and a total of 84 researchers gave an oral presentation during the technical sessions of RCAAI-2022.
