India’s leading eyecare specialists, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital plans to invest over Rs 175 crore in expanding its presence in Karnataka over the next two years. The hospital chain made this announcement at the inauguration of its super-speciality eye care center at Indiranagar in Bengaluru.
The new center is offering free consultations for patients who are 50 years or above till the month end. Karnataka’s Honourable Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education, Dr K Sudhakar inaugurated the Indiranagar facility in the presence of Dr. Adil Agarwal, CEO, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Shri P C Mohan, MP Bangalore Central and Shri S Raghu, MLA, CV Raman Nagar.
In the next two years, Dr Agarwal’s will set up around 25 hospitals in Karnataka at an investment of Rs 150 crore. In addition, the Group will set up more than 30 vision centers at an investment of Rs 25 crore, taking its total investment in the state to Rs 175 crore over a two year period.
Dr Adil Agarwal, CEO, Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, is optimistic about the Group’s growth prospects in Karnataka. “Karnataka has been a revenue generator for the Group, contributing approximately ?100 crore to our overall business. Currently, we have 15 centers in the state (11 in Bangalore and 4 outside Bangalore). In the next 36 months, with all the expansion that we have lined up, we expect the state to contribute to Rs 200 crore to the Group’s business. Karnataka is an important state for us and we are committed to expanding our presence here both in Bengaluru and outside the city,” he said.
Inaugurating the new facility at Indiranagar, Honourable Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education, Dr K Sudhakar, said, “I am happy to inaugurate the new center at Indiranagar, which I am sure will offer the best eye care service to people in East Bengaluru and beyond. Vision care can change lives and Dr. Agarwal’s has been changing lives one at a time. It is good to know that Dr. Agarwal’s is opening more clinics across the state. The hospital chain is doing exemplary work in the field of eye care and new centers across the state will help more people receive the best eye care,” he said.
Dr. Agarwal’s newest center in Indiranagar will be a refractive hub for the hospital chain, which means that all refractive surgeries from all of Dr. Agarwal’s branches in Karnataka will be performed out of this center. The center is equipped with advanced technology and the latest equipment to provide comprehensive eyecare in a holistic manner. The hospital is housed in two floors, spread across approximately 5,000 sq ft. The center will provide patients with 360-degree comprehensive eyecare under one roof, offering services such as general ophthalmology, cataract services, laser cataract surgery, retina & cornea services, glaucoma & orbit, refractive surgery and paediatric ophthalmology.
With the inauguration of this center, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals now has a total network presence of 102 hospitals spread across India and Africa. The Group’s presence spans across 11 countries and over 10 states in India. Its facilities are staffed by a team of over 400 ophthalmologists and 4,000 employees.
Dr. Agarwal’s has treated over 12 million patients so far and offers not only quality eyecare, but also academic and research programs in ophthalmology and related fields. The chain has been on a growth spree across the country, with more than 60 units added to its network in the past five years alone with latest addition made in Vijayawada in December, 2021.
