South Indian Banks nationwide ‘Drug free Campus’ campaign targeting the youth in schools and colleges completed its second leg in the youthful city of Bengaluru.
The campaign set its footprint in Bangalore, at St Aloysious School and College, Cox Town where Dr Pradeep B S, Additional Professor and Principal Investigator, Dept of Epidemiology, Centre for public health, NIMHANS conducted an awareness session for students. The event was also graced by presence of Fr Anthony Mahendran, Manager & Correspondent St Aloysious group of Institutions Bangalore, Ms. Rekha V R, Joint General Manager & Regional Head, South Indian Bank were also present.
Sharing his views on the campaign, Mr. Thomas Joseph K, EVP & Group Business Head said "Drugs are a menace that is rampant amongst our student community leading to addiction and other societal evils. We at South Indian Bank being part of the community, believe that education and campaigning at the grass root level is what will help curb this menace. In this light we have our CSR initiatives planned and executed in a manner that they educate youngsters on the perils of drugs at large and how to live a joyful life without them.”
South Indian Bank is planning to conduct similar campaigns in educational institutions across the country. The awareness sessions are joined by conducted by the officials from Excise department, narcotic cell etc. and events like poster making competition, mimes, street play with the participation of students, parents and teachers.
