As part of the celebrations for the 70th Karnataka Rajyotsav, Vedanta Sesa Goa - Iron Ore Karnataka (IOK) contributed to community welfare by donating the ‘Gift of Life’. Concluding its ‘Raktadaan Abhiyaan 2.0’ blood donation drive, it successfully mobilised community members and employee volunteers to contribute over 500 units of blood.
The initiative, under Sesa Goa’s Project ‘Aarogya’ is aimed at meeting the critical need of blood for the communities, through contributing the ‘Gift of Life’, and is aligned with the UN SDG-3 ‘Good Health & Well-being’.
“The ‘Gift of Blood’ is the ‘Gift of Life’. We are happy to partner with Vedanta Sesa Goa – Iron Ore Karnataka for the Raktadaan Abhiyaan 2.0, and it has led to a contribution of 500+ units of blood.Epitome of public-private partnership, together, we have contributed to making the world a better place, through meeting the critical requirement of blood shortage,” said Mr Vamadevappa, Administrative Officer, Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Brihanmath, Sirigere.
Marking the occasion, Mr. Shrishaila Gouda, CEO, Vedanta – Iron Ore Karnataka said, “This year, Vedanta Sesa Goa-IOK, in collaboration with the community members has collectively contributed 500+ units of the gift of life. The initiative demonstrates our commitment to community welfare and well-being, through enthusiastic participation both from the employees, workmen, business partners and community members.”
The #Raktadaan Abhiyaan – Blood donation drives are a part of the 70th Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations, celebrating the 70th year of the formation of the state of Karnataka, along with celebrating the unity, pride and culture of the people of Karnataka. As a part of the Rajyotsava celebrations, 1500+ employees, workmen, business partners and community members from nearby villages gathered together to celebrate unity and a shared belongingness to the state, reinforced by their love for Kannada. The day included cultural performances demonstrating the Kannada culture and a special traditional lunch showcasing the culture.
Vedanta Sesa Goa has over the years contributed to creating transformational impact through initiatives aimed at supporting farmers, developing rural infrastructure, providing scholarships & skilling training and organising job melas, health camps and blood donation drives. In Fy 25 the Company also carried out a plantation drive, in collaboration with Sirigere Mutt, contributing 60,000+ saplings in Chitradurga.
