Nobel Prize Laureates Join Dialogue From Nov 3-5 At Bengaluru And Mumbai

On 3-5 November the Nobel Prize Dialogue will come to India for a special double event in Bengaluru and Mumbai. The dialogue, hosted in partnership with Tata Trusts, brings Nobel Prize laureates together with leading thinkers to explore how knowledge, creativity, and investment in young people can shape a more inclusive, sustainable, and equitable future.

“I’m tremendously excited to visit India for the first time and meet the country’s students, researchers, and members of the public. The passion for science in India is truly inspiring, and I look forward to exchanging ideas about the future of research and innovation,” says David MacMillan, one of the Nobel Prize laureates joining for the event.

With the theme The Future We Want, the India dialogues will reflect on how countries achieve progress through strong democratic institutions and investment in knowledge, creativity and our young people. It will be forward-looking and explore how to build a world of joy, wonder and innovation that is more inclusive, sustainable, and equitable. The program will offer talks and panel discussions focused on megatrends shaping the coming decade.

The events will feature Nobel Prize laureates James Robinson (economic sciences, 2024) and David MacMillan (chemistry, 2021), alongside renowned experts Tolullah Oni, Gagandeep Kang, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and Kush Parmar.

“For almost 125 years the Nobel Prize has been awarded to people who have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind. We bring with us stories to the dialogues in India that highlight the importance of knowledge, creativity and collaboration. Impactful stories based on the Nobel Prize that we hope will inspire minds across the country and help shape the future we want,” says Hanna Stjärne Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation.

The Nobel Prize Dialogue is an open, cross-disciplinary meeting bringing together a unique constellation of Nobel Prize laureates, world-leading scientists, policy makers and thought leaders to discuss global issues that affect us all. A forum for scientists and non-scientists alike, the meeting aims to deepen the dialogue between the scientific community and the rest of society. The conference is inspired by the Nobel Week Dialogue, which has been taking place in Sweden since 2012 on the day before the Nobel Prize award ceremony.

Established in 1892, the Tata Trusts are India’s oldest and amongst Asia’s largest philanthropic institutions.
