The spiritual and cultural landscape of Delhi/NCR witnessed a historic event with the commencement of the most sacred rituals in Vedic tradition, Vishnu Sahasranama Kodi Archana. On the first day, more than 5000 devotees partake the event, 60+ priests chanted the thousand names of Lord Vishnu in accordance with the 27 stars and offered floral oblations to usher in prosperity, peace, divine protection, removal of obstacles, and spiritual growth.
This 27-day yajnam is being held at Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple, Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Delhi, organized by the governing body of Arsha Dharma Parishad under the guidance of Chief Priest Brahmasri Puliyannoor Anujan Narayanan Nambudiripad.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi conveyed his greetings, " It is especially heartening that a team of priests from Kerala will lead the chanting. These sacred chants will help guide everyone towards equanimity and peace. Equally significant is the lighting of one lakh diyas, symbolising the timeless prayer 'Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya', a divine prayer to take one from darkness to light. The glow of these lamps will create an atmosphere of divine positivity. Together, the chanting and the lighting of lamps embody the essence of our cultural heritage. They serve as living reminders of our roots, inspiring younger generations to remain connected with our shared traditions and values.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ramesh Nambiar, President of Arsha Dharma Parishad, said: "We are truly blessed to host such a prestigious event for the first time in Delhi. Vishnu Sahasranama Kodi Archana radiates spiritual energy that uplifts individuals and the environment around us. It is a celebration of faith, unity, and divine consciousness. Through this yajnam, devotees can experience our sacred tradition and enjoy various art and cultural events."
The 27-day program includes a rich array of art and cultural performances such as Kathakali, Swaralayaanubhavam, Veena Concert, Kathakali Pada Kacheri, Govinda Sangeetha Archana, Hindustani Music, Ashtapathi Spanam, Flute Concert, Solo Dance, and Poonthana Alapanam by renowned artists. Sustainability is ensured through the use of eco-friendly and bio-friendly materials including sandalwood paste, flowers, ghee, oil, cotton wicks, and cloth.
The 27-days prestigious yajnam will features over 1,500 priests chanting the thousand names of Lord Vishnu in accordance with the 27-star constellations and devotees can book any convenient day to have their names associated with specific stars, ensuring cumulative archanas are performed one crore times per star. Devotees may also benefit from several Sookthams performed in their names, including Sarvaiswaryam, Aikamathyam, Mangalyam, Ashtothram, Bhagyam, and more. Additionally, a Special Udayasthamana Pooja for Lord Vishnu can be conducted by the chief priest.
The yajnam will conclude on 2nd November 2025 with the Laksha Deeparchana, illuminating one lakh lamps around the temple. This traditional ritual embodies both aesthetic and spiritual grandeur, symbolizing devotion, reverence, and blessings for all participants.
