MAHE Hosts One-Day Clinical Competency Development Program For Philips Engineers


The Office of Corporate Relations at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), in collaboration with Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, successfully hosted a one - day Clinical Competency Development Program for a specialized team of fourteen engineers from Ambulatory Monitoring and Diagnostics from Philips Innovation Centre, Bangalore. This event, held on June 14th, 2024, focused on ambulatory monitoring and diagnostics. The program, designed to bridge the gap between engineering expertise and the practical realities of healthcare, provided participants with a comprehensive learning experience. Through engaging classroom sessions led by renowned faculty from KMC, the engineers gained a deeper understanding of cardiac device functionalities, their clinical applications, and the intricacies of patient care. The program went beyond theoretical knowledge, offering participants invaluable hands-on experience with cutting-edge cardiac devices.

Dr Harish Kumar, Director of Corporate Relations at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to the attendees followed by Dr Vinod C Nayak provided an insightful overview of the program's rich agenda, outlining the carefully curated sessions designed to delve into the intricacies of the chosen subject matter

Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Pro Vice Chancellor – Technology & Science, MAHE, emphasized the integration of technology and medicine is the future, and by equipping engineers with clinical knowledge, the program lays the foundation for advancements in healthcare that will address societal needs. He expressed his optimism that the program would produce graduates who can seamlessly bridge the gap between engineering and medicine, driving progress in healthcare delivery and improving the lives of patients.

Dr N N Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor - Strategy & Planning, explained that this collaborative approach, embedded within the program, not only elevates technical competencies but also cultivates a profound understanding of the clinical impact of these innovations. By bridging the gap between engineering prowess and medical expertise, the program empowers participants to design and develop solutions that cater to real-world needs, ultimately improving the lives of patients and advancing the frontiers of healthcare.

Dr Raviraja N.S, Chief Operating Officer Designate, Director- Planning & Monitoring, MAHE, Manipal believes that this convergence holds the key to transforming healthcare delivery and improving patient outcomes. He envisions a future where AI-powered diagnostics, personalized treatments, and remote patient monitoring seamlessly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of medical practices.
