Honeywell Automation India Wins Golden Peocock Award For Corporate Social Responsibility


* Honeywell’s program, which is focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) as well as providing access to safe water, was named winner in the ‘Engineering’ category

Honeywell Automation India Limited (NSE: HONAUT) has been named winner of the Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for 2020. The award recognizes the company’s CSR work, which touches the lives of 2 million people across 46 districts in India. Honeywell received the award in the “Engineering” category.

“This award reaffirms our commitment to improving the world we live in by creating, supporting, and nurturing outstanding CSR programs that make a real, sustainable, and measurable impact on communities that Honeywell serves,” said Ashish Gaikwad, Managing Director, Honeywell Automation India Limited.

“As a technology company, we will continue to focus our CSR efforts on promoting STEM education, supporting tech incubation in deep science, and providing safe water access to water-stressed communities. We will also offer holistic rural development in communities where Honeywell is present,” he added.

Honeywell supports science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, including through the Honeywell Center for Advancing Girls in Science at Avasara Academy, Pune. Recently, Honeywell announced its partnership with the Society for Innovation and Development at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, to fund start-ups in deep science. The company has a longstanding partnership with Safe Water Network, with whom it has built 185 safe water stations in areas of Telangana and Maharashtra that suffer groundwater contamination. Honeywell was among the first companies to promote child safety in schools through its CSR programs.

In 2017, Honeywell received a “Special Commendation for Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility” for its safe water program.

The Golden Peacock Awards have become a hallmark of CSR excellence and are regarded as of the top prize in the field.

This year, the awards secretariat received 319 applications from corporations showcasing their CSR work for the period 2018-20. Of these, 119 applications were shortlisted for final selection. The award winners were announced after an intensive three-level independent and quantitative assessment, culminating in a final selection by a top-level jury chaired by Hon’ble Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice of India and former Chairman, National Human Rights Commission of India and National Commission for Constitution of India Reforms. Companies with the highest scores among contenders for each of the respective industrial sectors were adjudged winners.
